"To get your scent."
Rainer's body felt like it had lost its soul and then found it. She nodded her head slowly stepping away from both the beast and him. But the Kylan strode towards her, covering the space Rainer had made.
"Don't ever run away from me, cause the more you do, the closer I get," he said dose words with sincerity shining in his eyes, "let's go inside it's getting dark,"
They went inside, even though it hadn't set yet. They had their dinner this time at the grand dining table that could contain twenty people, but Rainer noticed that they were the only ones eating at it, she then realized that she had not seen anyone else apart from the young girl in the castle.
"Where are everyone?" she asked,
"Jasmine must be doing some work,"
"I don't mean Jasmine, I mean....where ate everyone else? Do you stay here alone?"
"No, I have servants who clean," he answered with a shrug,
"What about relations?" Rainer's curiosity was growing that began to drop questions one after another.
"I do," was his short reply.
Rainer wanted to say more but decided against it. She tried eating the food but she just couldn't, she wondered how Kylan had lived in a lonely and silent place all this while. Rainer occasionally stole some glares at him, their eyes met a couple of times but she always looked away,
She heard the light click of the cutlery on a plate and wondered why he stopped eating, she could feel his gaze on her as she eat her food making her conscious. She lifted her head and looked at him to find him leaning on his chair with his head on his knocks looking at her with his piercing gray eyes.
"Why are you looking at me?"
"Can't I look at my wife, and weren't you the one who was stealing glances at me,"
Her face burned, realizing that he noticed her stealing glans at him and hearing him call her wife did this to her body,
Later that night Kylan was out in his studies, while Rainer was prepping to take a bath but got sidetracked by an old-looking book that fell from her wall drop, she picked it up and began flipping through the book. The book was about the history of the desert, she was so immersed in the book that she didn't know when Kylan walked in.
"You left the tap on," Kylan said sitting opposite Rainer on one of the sofers,
Startled, Rainer jerked away from the bed, holding the book close to her like a shield,
"When did you get here? and what are you going here?" Rainer asked tightening her grip on the book,
"Not too long ago and this is my room," he said crossing his leg over the other, leaning lazily on his knuckles as his eyes scanned Rainer's body.
Realizing that she was in nothing except her towel, Rainer quickly used the bed shit to cover herself,
"What do you mean this is your room, this is clearly my room," Rainer clapped back, her face burning with embarrassment.
Kylan's lips pulled up in a smile as he watched Rainer's face turn crimson. Realizing that he was speaking the truth, she diced to ask another question.
"Why don't you just give me another room?"
"They're all occupied," he spoke lazily,
"By who? there are so many rooms here and they're just three people who leave here," Rainier said shooting him a hard glare,
"By people," he said in an isn't that obvious tune,
Realizing that she would not win this she quickly took her clothes and dashed into the bathroom. After freshening up she came out to still find Kylan sitting on the char, but this time he was looking through her spell book and had a few of his shirt buttons undone which showed his hard, tanned chest,
Sitting down on the bed Rainier continued reading the book but she kept trying distracted by Kylan who was also reading. She wounded if he could cast a spell if he tries, no, Rainer shook her head there was no way he could do that, he was not a witch. Telling herself that she felt a little bit powerful that she could do something that he couldn't. Rainer smiled to herself as she shook her head. Kylan who noticed Rainer just shocked his head as a small smile made its way to his lips,
Rainer woke up that night to find Kylan's space empty, the night was cold so Rainer snuggled herself deeper into the blanket seeking warmth but for some strange reason, she felt a piercing gaze on her. She sat up and looked around but there was no one. Going back to sleep again she heard a faint knock, she opened her eyes once again but found no one.
Fear was slowly creeping into her, she held into the blanket tight as she covered herself, but that didn't stop the knock from happening. Gathering up courage she stood up to open the door but then she held the knock again but this time it came from the window. Rainer could feel someone's presence in the room but she could not see the person.
Leaving the room in fear, Rainer walled through the hallway but still, she felt that same gaze on her, as she also walked passed windows she could still hear the light taping on the window which made her already racing heart race faster. She wondered where Kylan was by this time, maybe he was still in his studies she thought to herself. She knew that meeting him now would be disturbing but she was too scared to care.
As she walked she heard a low deadly grow which came from a distance. Curious, she decided to follow it, the growl was scary but she didn't know what made her body move towards it. Finally, she arrived at the end of the hallway but before she could look at what was making that sound someone closed her eye and pulled her away. She look up to find Jasmine looking at her with a worried look,
"I'm sorry Rainer but you can't go there it's not safe,"
"And why so?" Rainer asked raising her brow,
"I'm sorry but it's not in my position to tell you that," She had an apological look on her face as she said dose words,
" Okay," Rainer reluctantly agreed, even though she was burning to know what was that that made that sound, " but where is Kylan?"
"He is with the others," Jasmine said wearing back her bright smile,
"Who?" Rainer asked confused, "was it the brow-haired man? Rainer thought
"You'll meet them tomorrow but I think you guys have met before,"
Jasmine explained but as she did Rainer heard the light tapping on the window,
"Did you hear that?" Rainer asked,
"Yes I did, there's no need to worry, those are just the restless souls of the desert, the prince should tell you all about it, but first you need to go to your room,"
Rainer wanted to protest but she just let Jasmine lead her back to her room. But had lots of questions but she had to wait for Kylan to come back first. Rainer sat on the couch waiting for Kylan but he never came, she could still hear the light tapping on the window and it got her wondering why those souls were reckless.
