Rainer woke up alone in her bed, she realized that Kylan must have come back when she was asleep, looking at his spot it felt cold and untouched, that meant he didn't sleep next to her last night, but why? was it because of what she said last night? no, that can't be the reason,
Rainer freshened up and went down to look for Kylan but Jasmine told her that he had gone out with the mysterious guests early in the morning. Thinking of how last night's dinner was silent, breakfast was awfully silent. Rainer asked for Jasmin to join her and thankfully she did, making breakfast bearable.
Jasmine showed her the remaining place in the mansion and told her a few things she knew and was allowed to say. It was lunchtime and Kylan wasn't back yet, she kept on asking Jasmine when Kylan would likely come back like a worried wife but Jasmine did have the answer to her question.
So after another silent meal, Rainer decided to do something other than reading or waiting for her husband, she decided to go sparring with Jasmine, who was well, the only person around.
They both went to the forests, which looked alive and green. Rainer could not believe that such a place existed here, in the desert, if she didn't know better she would think that the was in the forest instead of a wasteland.
"Are you sure you want to do this? you know that being physical is not..um you know..witches way," Jasmine asked, sounding unsure,
" Don't worry, I know my way around weapons, I do this all the time with my best friend Tony," remembering Tony, Rainer's mood abruptly shifted but she was quick to paste a smile on her face, Jasmine saw it but decided not to ask any questions.
"Okay,"
And so it began, the clashing of swords could be heard across the forest, Jasmine was indeed a good fighter but she was still holden back but Rainer wanted her to give her all and it didn't take time for that to happen.
Jasmine was very swift with her movement, she was just like the wind landing and jumping like a panther, Rainer was barely able to keep up with her speed but she was too thrilled to stop. Rainer was breathing hard as sweat broke out of her skin but she still charged towards Jasmine who still had her smile on her lips, soon Jasmine knocked off Rainer's sword from her hands, pointing hers towards Rainer's chest.
"Do you yield?" She asked, but Rainer was having too much fun to quit,
"No,"
Hearing that Jasmin throw her sword to the ground and took a stance with Rainer doing the same and in minutes both ladies were all out in a fight, they weren't pulling each other's her, rather they were fighting like men, throwing punches, and flying kicks. Rainer was obviously lacking some skills but she also took note as she fought.
Rainer staggered a few steps back as Jasmine throw a punch at her that she missed,
"I'm so sorry Rainer, I... I didn't mean to.." Jasmin was cut off by Rainer, she had a horrified look on her face as she saw the blood that escaped from the small cut on Rainer's lips.
"No Jasmine, we're sparring and this...this is just a small wound, you don't need to apologize," Rainer cut Jasmin, reassuring her but one look at Jasmine's face told her that she would not be able to fight any longer, so she decided to call it a day.
As they arrived at the mansion, Rainer's face lit up upon seeing Kylan back home, Rainer ran and hugged him from behind inhaling his intoxicating masculine scent and she nuzzled her face at his back. Realizing how she had reached she quickly pulled away, wondering to herself why she behaved in such a way.
"You missed me?" his question almost sounded as if he was asking himself instead of her,
"Yes I did, I haven't seen you for the whole day and I thought that you were angry with me so yes, I was worried," Rainer blotted out, looking away with her cheek turning pink,
A smile that reached his eye made its way to his lips as he pinched Rainer's cheeks,
"And why would I be angry at you, you didn't do anything, I just went on an important meeting that's all," Kylan said pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear, enjoying the spark he felt as his skin touches her.
It had felt like years since Rainer felt that spark she always feels whenever his skin touches her, she closed her eyes leaning into his touch that did things to her body,
Suddenly, a deadly growl erupted from his chest, as his eyes fell on the wound on her lips. Rainer's body shook upon hearing the dangerous growl, but Kylan held her closer to him as he inspected her lips.
"How did you get this?" his voice echoed in the room as his eyes pierced through her's trying to read her very soul. Seeing the anger growing in his eyes, Rainer knew that calling Jasmine's name would definitely not end well so she did what she had to do.
"Oh, this little thing, don't mind it a gut it when I was walking out of our room reading a book, you need not worry it would heal very soon, and if I wish I can heal it with magic,"
Rainer lied through her teeth, she knew it wasn't right but she had to do it. The lie sounded convincing but she could see in his eyes that he didn't buy any of it,
Realizing a sigh, Kylan leaned forward and began leaking Rainer's injury as gently as possible not wanting to add too much pressure on the cut. Her eyes widened as she felt his hot tongue on her lips, her face immediately flared up in embarrassment As he pulled away Rainer lowers her head, hiding her face behind her long, dark hair. But Kylan didn't let her hide from him, as he lifted her chin with his finger, placing a small kiss on her nose.
"I'll be back," he said before walking away, leaving the shaken Rainer behind.
After taking a long well-deserved bath, Rainer went to the garden and was reading the same book from yesterday under the setting sun. The book was big and old but Rainer was somehow fascinated by it, she spends most of her time reading in school, so it wasn't the first time for her to be reading such books but this one just drew he by its mystery.
As she read the book Rainer stumbled on a page that had a very familiar symbol of a red fox with a red gladiolus flower. Rainer knew that she had seen such a symbol somewhere but she just couldn't remember. After minutes of trying to remember she gave up and continued her reading but she began to feel uncomfortable, it felt as if someone was watching her.
Feeling that same feeling as last night, Rainer's heart began to hammer in her chest but she, quickly shook away the feeling and continued her book, but as time passed Rainer began hearing gentle whispers close to her ear that sent shivers down her spine. The more she stayed there the louder it got but she could not pick out anything it said.
The voices sounded troubled and restless. In less than a minute the sun would completely set from the horizon, making it in able for Rainer to read her book, so she stood up and began walking inside but before she could enter Rainer saw a huge shadow like smoke coming her way, as the whispers grow stronger, but Rainer was unable to move from her spot, she had frozen.
The shadows were just a few meters away from her but before they got to her a bright blinding light flashed, tea nearly blindingly her. She closed her trying to block off the bright light from entering her eyes but ended up tripping on her own feet but before she could reach the ground a pair of strong arms caught her right in time.
She opened her eyes and found herself back in her room, in the strong arms of Kylan. He gently dropped her on the bed, before scanning her body looking for any form of injury.
"Are you alright, do you feel pain anywhere?" he asked, sounding worried.
What are dose things and what harm can they bring that made Kylan act this way,
"I'm fine, just a little shaken," Rainer said with a reassuring smile, but Kylan's eyes just kept looking for any form of injury. After making sure that nothing was of he, stood up and poured water into a glass, and gave it to Rainer,
"Finish it," he order.
Rainer didn't need to be told twice, she was thirsty as hell, so in less than a minute the glass was already empty,
"More?" he offered, but Rainer just shook her head.
"What are dose?" she asked,
"Souls, reckless souls," he answers, dropping the jug of water back on the table.
"Why are they reckless?" Rainer asked, curiosity dancing in her eyes,
Seeing the look in her eyes, Kylan let out a sigh before taking her small hands in his big ones,
"After lunch, I'll tell you what you need to know,"
