Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 (Marking his territory)

"Kylan,"

Hearing his name from her lips a satisfied growl erupted from his throat, which made Rainer jolt in her seat. Seeing her reaction another growl escaped from him but this time it was of dissatisfaction.

"You should eat your food," he said looking away from her,

Rainer who heard this didn't know what to think. Was he a Lycan? if he was then why did he fight off those lycans back then? Or was he a rival pack that came to take what the other alpha wanted?

"Don't you like the food?" he must have noticed the chaos that was running through Rainer's mind,

"I'm full," Rainer said, she hadn't eaten half of her meal but she had indeed lost her appetite,

"Fine then, walk with me," he said, stretching his hands toward Rainer. Rainer looked at his outstretched hand for a few seconds before placing her small hand in his big one, she felt that same spark again that made her crave for more.

They didn't communicate as they walked through the mansion, his face was as calm as a still stream but Rainer was having a hard time staying silent, she wanted to ask him some more questions but didn't know where to start

They made their way outside of the mansion and walked through the vast yard. Rainer was taken aback by how colorful and rich the fields surrounding the castle were.

The mansion was beautifully decorated with palm trees, green grass, and some other little trees. Walking proudly on the grass were a few peacocks, which spread their beautiful and colorful wings with grace. Not too far from where she stood, she saw a garden that contains various types and colors of flowers that attract insects, butterflies, and small birds to feed on their sweet nectar.

They walked further together, looking at the beauty of the mansion from the streams to the plant nursery and so on. At that time, Rainer felt so at peace with herself that she almost forgot all of her questions,

Rainer had a wide smile on her face that radiated. Rainer had almost forgotten the last time she had smiled so much. Slowly, the smile on her face died when she remembered home.

"Where is my sister?" She asked lining up at him.

"She is in a safe place, you need not worry," he said sniffing a red rose in his hand,

"But why isn't she here?" Rainer's curiosity was growing as time passed,

"Because she can't survive in the desert, the heat would kill her just the way it killed your friend," he said as the flower in his hand turned into red sand and soon everything faded into dust and the only thing that was left was just the both of them standing in the middle of a wasteland.

Rainer's eyes nearly fell off of their sockets upon seeing this. This shouldn't be too shocking but seeing it unfold before her made her wonder if all this was just a dream but it wasn't. Soon everything turned back to how they were before, she wondered if what she's she was seeing was real or maybe an illusion.

And Thinking about Tony made Rainer's eyes felt hot and watery. She removed the moon chain from under her dress before tightly holding on to it as a lone tear fell from her eyes. She really missed him a lot. She wished he had never followed her that day, or if she had tried harder to chase him back, he wouldn't have ended up like that. Rainer swallowed the lump that formed in her throat.

"You know about Tony?" Rainer asked looking up at him with teary eyes.

He just hummed a reply to her question before plunking another flower,

"Who are you? and is this all real?" the question just fell from her mouth but it was already too late to regret anything.

He looked at her for a while before looking back at the flower in his hand,

"Yes, everything here is all really and I'm one of the princes of the desert," he said flatly as if it didn't matter.

Rainer looked at the man who had a carefree expression on his face as he fiddled with the flower in his hand. his eyes could put any person under his spell just by merely looking at them. This close to him, Rainer could see how sharp his feathers were and how tan he was; his raven-dark hair was now messy due to the wind, which played with it, but he still looked dangerously handsome. Rainer wondered how many hearts he had broken in his life,

"My advice, don't cast any spell close to the scorpions, they react to magic," he said pointing over to a particular direction.

Rainer watched his finger that pointed in the direction of the two giant scorpions that had their metasomal and patella chained with massive chains that were deeply connected to the ground. The scorpions were so large that they could be measured against a tree. One of the scorpions was black with a red stinger, while the other was a mixture of red and brown.

Rainer felt his hand on her shoulder, and before she knew it, she had materials in front of the scope. Rainer's complexion abruptly turned white with fear. Rainer quickly hid behind him holding him as tight as she could for life. Kylan just chuckled upon seeing Rainer's reaction,

Rainer couldn't believe her ears. There was a freaking scorpion that could detect magic. Then why did he bring her this close to it? Was he planning on killing her? Rainer's soul almost left her body as the black scorpion lowered its head before him.

She had never felt so much fear in her entire life as she did now. Rainer heard the chains being pulled as both scorpions grew closer to her. Cold sweat broke out from her skin as her legs gave way, but thanks to Kylan who caught her right in time before she landed on the ground.

He held her by the waist, taking a deep sniff from her silky hair. He fiddled with a few strands of her hair, enjoying the way it felt between his fingers. Then he gently pulled them away, exposing her soft and creamy neck that had his mark. Rainer took in a sharp breath as she felt his fingers travel from her neck to her shoulder before taking in her intoxicating scent.

"Don't fear; they can smell fear and use it against their victims, magic isn't really smiled on here so be careful when you cast your spell, I don't mind it but not everyone likes it, but you can do whatever you want no one can hurt you not even these scorpions can. Your free, just like a bird,"

"Then why did you bring me close to them?"

"To get your scent, so that they know who you are to me and to know their duty towards you,"
