Chapter 43 - Combat Skills

It was around 8 am and all the preparation to leave the pack had been made. All the shifters leaving with Sage stood outside the pack waiting for him to come out. After about an hour of waiting, they saw him striding out with Aurora looking gloomy by his side. She was still not able to think that Sage would ever leave her alone. It was all surprising that she wished she could do all she could to stop him but she couldn't. He was the Alpha anyway and he had to do whatever he could to stop the pack from being hunted. At that point, she regretted him being crowned Alpha. What if he was just a random member of the pack, would she have missed him a lot? She continued to question herself until they both moved out to meet the fighters waiting for him.

They all bowed in greetings to their Alpha and Luna. Sage addressed them and they all took to his speech. Just then he turned to Aurora and pulled her into a long kiss earning an exclamation from everyone present.

"I'll be back soon," he whispered into her ear and pulled her into a warm hug. Still, Aurora didn't give in to the hug. She continued to fume in outrage until they left the pack.

Sage drove his car, carrying along four shifters. Rae also took his car and they made their way out to the pack. Sage gist with his people and they all had fun. They used about six hours to get to the nearest pack which was because of the speed they drove on. It was late afternoon when they got there so they knew that the pack members would have been busy with the day's activities. Before they could enter the pack named Furnace pack, they were inspected. After searching for their belongings and concluding that they are marketers, they passed through without any attempt to be stopped again.

They packed their cars in a safe arena and strode deeper into the pack for them to get to the Furnace pack building where training could be going on. Sage told them to split and since they were twenty, they split into five. Sage warned Rae to be careful like the last time since shifters can recognise him as a Beta of a pack. He nodded to Sage's warnings and left with three other shifters.

Sage and the three shifters also made their way to the pack building. He told them that they need to know some activities going on in the Furnace pack. When they got to the pack building, they saw that no pastime was held and since there was none, they wouldn't be able to enter the pack building. Sage told them to be patient so they would see if the Alpha was available or not. They waited for only ten minutes when the door was opened revealing Alpha Mike, the Alpha of Furnace pack and his Luna. He smiled when he heard the Alpha commanding his guards to stay behind and that he and Luna were going for a run. He remembered Alpha Mike in his coronation so he hid quite well to avoid the Alpha seeing him. Alpha Mike finally left with his Luna and Sage turned to his fighters. "We should join those at the field so we can also try to figure out which skills they are using," he told them and they nodded in agreement.

They watched the training from a long distance and tried to video the combat skills they used but they couldn't get it. Sage then told the other three to wait behind and that he would be back. Then, he strode down from where they stood and walked on until he got to the entrance of the field. When he got to the gate, he was stopped.

Sage curved a sweet smile on his face and uttered, "As you can see, I am not a member of this pack but I am not an opportunity to join the combat training in my pack, can I know how Combat training works here?" He asked, making some boyish gestures with his body.

The guards at the entrance scrutinized him head to toe and asked, "Which pack are you from?"

Without any hesitation, he replied, "Lock Hearts pack."

The guards exchanged glances and turned to face him, "Lock Hearts pack?" One of them implored and Sage nodded. "I thought they were the best pack, good at using the combat fight?"

"Really? They are? But as for me they never give me the chance or maybe I refused to receive the strict training they give to them," Sage mumbled sheepishly and the guards burst into laughter.

One of them took some steps towards Sage, "I smell strong blood in you," he told Sage who was taken aback but composed himself.

"Why? Because I'm the healer's son?" He requested and they all burst into laughter again.

The one who had smelled him nodded his head. "I thought so."

Sage grinned at him, "You're smart," he commented on him because he knew the guard might have trained hard to smell someone's scent. "So tell me how your training here goes," he said, roaming his eyes over the guards to see who would speak first.

The one who had smelled him was the one who spoke first and Sage was glad knowing he would disclose something reasonable to him. "We learn the supreme combat skills here," the guard relayed and Sage arched his eyebrows, "Supreme combat skills? Have never heard of such," Sage admitted.

"Oh!" They muttered. "It is true that being the healer's son can burts one's brain."

"There are three skills to learn when learning combat fighting. One is the Basic combat skill, two is the supreme combat skill and the third one is the golden combat skill. One needs to know the first, and second before starting the third," the guard explained and Sage tilted his head. He was happy about the information. He immediately thanked them and smirked to himself as he made his way back to his fighters.
