Chapter 47 - Questioning The Beta's Daughter

Sage succeeded in reaching the terrace, indicating his men to stay far behind them. While on the terrace, he made sure no one could see him where he stood. The Beta kept looking up towards them but he was able to hide his face and listened carefully to the meeting that had been going on. The Alpha was talking about something he wasn't able to grasp but he tried his best to pay attention to it since the ladies he had gone up with were paying rapt attention to the meeting.

After all the explanations from the Gamma, Sage knew what they were talking about. He quickly pushed through his men's minds to link what he had heard. "Moon packs also have been raided by the assassins. They explained how they looked in full detail. It was the same way they had also appeared to us. I think they are planning to get their hands on the assassins," he told them and locked his mind back to focus. Sage then looked up at the ladies and saw how serious they were so he decided to ask the royal lady a question.

"What is happening here?" He inquired like a novice, pretending not to understand what we were talking about.

The lady twisted her head over her shoulder to look at him. She smiled when she remembered he was still right beside her. "They are having a meeting about the recent attack on our pack. We don't know who they are since we've never for once caught up with them," she disclosed and Sage confirmed his thoughts.

"Do you mean they aren't rogues?"

"No, they are not. They use their combat skills for fighting and they also hide their scent. It's so difficult to reach them too," she commended and he tried to help her but she resisted.

"Combat skills?" Sage demanded and she nodded. "Can you explain better?"

Before she could say anything, her maid spoke up, "Can't you see we're having a meeting, can you keep quiet for some while?" the maid demanded harshly and her pilot gave her a stern look.

"I warned you not to talk rudely to him, Amia, what's wrong with you?" The lady requested and her maid bowed to plead for her mercy. She scoffed and gave Sage a flashy smile. "Yes, the combat skills, they made use of the highest combat skills which are the hardest skills to learn. The Alpha is still trying to get the pack that had gone that far in training but only a few fighters had learnt it so it is difficult to find the assassin," Rose explained to him and Sage's heart leapt in joy hearing it from her.

"So, the assassins aren't just random fighters, they are fighters with the hardest skills in combat?" He thought to himself. He stared at the lady for some time and decided to keep questioning until the meeting with the king ended.

"You smell too powerful, who are you?" Sage inquired immediately after the meeting ended.

"I think that question was supposed to be for you," she divulged.

"Oh, that! Well, I'm Steven and I'm from the Lock Hearts pack," he lied to cover up his identity. Who knows if she might know the name of the new Alpha that had just taken over Lock Heart's throne?

"That isn't all."

"Then, inform me about the ones I've not mentioned."

The royal lady scoffed. "Which family do you belong to? You have a very strong aura which means you're from a noble home," she said, wanting him to reveal who he was.

"What do you think about how powerful the healer's son would be?"

The lady grinned and nodded her head. "That's better. I'm Rose, the only child and daughter of the Beta. Pretty much, I am the next Beta of this pack," she pouted proudly and Sage chuckled.

He stretched his hands and she took it with pleasure, "So glad to know you," he told her and they both shared pleasantries.

"If I may ask Steven, what had brought you to the pack and why have you tamed me?" She demanded, feeling shy all of a sudden.

Sage raised his eyebrows and nodded his head. "I'm here to trade with your pack. I saw you from afar and decided to make friends with you," he conveyed.

"Really?!" She winced, "I so much love making friends."

"That's nice," Sage complimented.

Rose smiled and began to walk down the terrace while her maid and Sage followed behind. When they got out off the terrace, Rose turned to Sage, "We'll part_"

"I need a favour from you, Rose," Sage pleaded.

"I knew it. I told you Rose that he isn't the person you can walk with," Amia reminisced and Rose felt rage burn in her.

"You won't say a word again, Amia," Rose warned.

With the opportunity, Sage decided to go straight to the point. "I made some mistakes while trying to get into the pack building. My friends and I ran our way in and we ended up fighting with the guards. So, please all I want you to do now is to find a way to get out without any argument," Sage begged and it touched Rose.

"Where're your friends?" She asked and he pointed at his back. Rose also turned to face back and saw the other three standing some meters away from them. She faced Sage back and nodded her head in agreement.

She then told them to follow her behind as they made their way to the entrance of the pack building. While hurrying out, guards almost came forward to them but Rose stopped them.

When they got to the gate, Rose told them that Sage and his men were at the pack building to see her and they had to run because they knew they wouldn't let them in. Rose pleaded with the guards to let them out and they had no other option.

"Thank you for visiting and make sure you come stopping by again Steven," Rose said.

"Of course, I won't forget your kindness," Sage ensured and bowed his head to give her respect.
