Chereads / My Nerd Mate: I Won't Let Her Go / Chapter 40 - The Date And The Badge

Chapter 40 - The Date And The Badge

Sage was able to catch up with Aurora and gripped her while she struggled to get his hands off her. He smirked and whispered to her, "I'm now stronger than before, I hope you understand," he said, proudly and Aurora scoffed.

"I won't argue with you on that, so would you kindly let go of me, I told you I'm hungry and not in the mood to joke," she told him, still trying to jerk his hands off her.

"I'm not joking. Let's go out and eat," he proposed.

Aurora arched her eyebrows at him, "Go where? All because I want to eat, you asked me to go out? No thanks, I'm not interested. You can go on your own will."

Sage smiled heartily at her. She was his cute mate and he loved how clever she was. Acting and behaving wise was what he got fond of about her. "Let's go for a date," he tried to twist his words to see if she might agree to go with him.

"A date?" She inquired, a little bit surprised by what he said.

"Yes, a date. I want to have one with you."

Aurora tilted her head backwards to think. She hadn't had any date with anyone and Sage proposing it to her made her want to go with him. She was eager to see how it would turn out. "Fine, I will go but we won't show our identity, I don't want any hails on my first date," she mumbled while Sage pulled her hand but she stifled herself not ready to leave. "I need to change."

Sage finally let go of her hand and he watched her run towards their room. He choked on his laughter and walked out to his car. He entered and waited patiently for his mate.

About twenty minutes later, Aurora was back outside. When she strode to their car, Sage couldn't help but drool at her beauty. She was putting on a short white floral gown and black sneakers to match. Her face radiated with how she painted herself into a doll. Her beauty beheld his look and he grinned bizarre to her image.

Aurora got into the front seat beside the driver seat and stretched a nose mask to him. "To prevent them from seeing us,"  she said and nudged him to take the nose mask. So she was really serious when she said she couldn't let the outside world see her as a luna. He heaved a heavy sigh and ignited his car key to start his car.

They drove through the highway hitting the soil with their screeching tire. Aurora placed the nose mask on her face and felt satisfied. She didn't want to be recognised by anyone as their Luna. She also couldn't blame herself for choosing someone who would become an Alpha. Maybe if she had known earlier, she wouldn't have gotten close to him not to talk of loving him.

Their car halted in front of one of the big restaurants. Sage also put on his mask and they both got out to dine. They were welcomed wholeheartedly and Aurora wondered what they would do if they eventually showed their face.

She made sure she hid her face perfectly until they were led to a reserved table. Soon later, they were served the exact meal they asked for. Seeing how mouth-watering the foods were, they began to devour their meal. They ate to their satisfaction and when they were done, Sage took Aurora's hands and they strode back to their packed car.

Sage opened the door for her and joined her, "We'll be visiting the mall now," he told her.

Aurora gape at him with curiosity. "Why?"

"You aren't romantic, are you?" He asked and she chuckled.

"It's just weird going out like this. This is my first date but it's okay if we're having a great date," she said.

Sage shook his head and began to drive out of the restaurant. They made their way to the mall and when they got there Sage showered her with many gifts of Clothes, Jewellery, shoes and snacks. Aurora felt happy after having a great time before they returned to the pack building.

One Week Later|

Sage stood outside of the pack building after his Herald had informed him about the arrival of his Beta and other shifters that had gone with Rae to visit packs.

From afar, he was able to smell their scent. He was happy they were back home safely. Then he waited for them to reach the pack building.

"Alpha," Rae and others bowed in greeting to him.

"You're welcome, come inside," Sage beckoned and turned back into the hall.

He walked majestically to his throne and sat on it while Rae also found his seat with the shifters as they began a short meeting on their arrival. Sage wasn't ready to be kept under suspicion so he declared the meeting. "I'm so sorry I didn't allow you to have a good rest but after this meeting, I assure you a better rest," he told them and they agreed to him. He turned to his Beta, "What's up, Rae?"

"There's more to the badge, Alpha. We went to all the packs closer to us and to those that could build an assassin. We saw a lot of people in each pack using this badge," Rae informed.

Sage sat comfy in his seat, "You mean almost all the packs you visited make use of the same badge," Sage asked.

Rae called upon a shifter and asked him to bring out the same badge as the one they had gotten. The shifter did and fetched about five of the same badge.

Sage asked the badge to be brought to him and he inspected them. "They are the same," he said to them and they nodded. "This is absurd," he mumbled as he tried to think why all the pack had the same badge. Just then something came to his mind, "Have any of you seen this badge in the pack?" He asked and they shook their heads. "Did you try to ask from each pack what the badge is used for?"

"Oh, Right!" Rae mumbled, "I heard from each pack that members of the pack used it for combat training."

"Combat training?"

"Yes, Alpha."
