Chereads / The Vampire's Last Mission / Chapter 4 - Caught

Chapter 4 - Caught

Isn't it a mere gun? Why fret when my fangs can be used as a weapon?

Ivy had no choice but to transform when the security guards began shooting at her.

Although she had no weapons like them it took the vampire lady only five minutes to eliminate the fifteen guys.

Knowing too well that the gunshot earlier must have alerted the officers downstairs, with one powerful kick Ivy broke the door.

"Why bother calling for help when it will be too late when they get here?" Ivy's cold voice filled the room when she met the trembling man making a phone call.

"Goodbye," Ivy didn't give him the chance to plead. With the gun, she snatched from one of the security guys she buried five bullets into the fat man's chest.

She didn't forget to confirm that he was dead before she exited the room.

"Girl, you need to leave there right now. All the forces are coming to the 15th floor. Some are using the stairs while others use the elevator. The elevator will open in six seconds so leave," Samuel warned. He could not hide how terrified he was at the moment.

Ivy did not need to think too much. Her only option was to go back to the rooftop and get changed back into her dress and that is what she did.

Three minutes after she changed, about five policemen arrived on the rooftop.

They first examined her before they questioned her.

"What are you doing here?" The police officer leading the group asked in a suspicious tone.

"It felt too stuffy inside the hall so I came up to the rooftop to get some fresh air and also used this opportunity to enjoy the night scenery," Ivy forced herself to speak in a ladylike manner. She didn't use her cold voice because she did not want to arouse suspicions.

"It's dangerous out here. Return to the hall where there is enough protection," The man said after examining Ivy once again.

"Thank you, I will do just that," Ivy forced a smile on before she hurried out of the rooftop.

"Search," Her sharp ears heard the man's voice ordering his subordinates to search the rooftop.

"Ivy, the hotel management has discovered that their CCTV has been hacked into. It is being repaired right now. You need to get out of there right now because I won't be able to help you anymore," Samuel said as he stood up from where he sat on the white couch.

For some reason, the couch became too uncomfortable for him to sit down on.

"Don't worry, I am not that easy to kill," Ivy said as confident as she had always sounded. Just then the two began hearing loud voices at the top of the stairs.

"What are those noises about?" Samuel's heart began beating erratically.

"It seems like my cover has been blown…,"

"Let me come out and help you…,"

"Stay right where you are. You will only put yourself into trouble if you come out to help me so stay in your room. I will handle this," Ivy said as she continued walking fast.

"I am already at the hall. I just need to mix myself in the crowd and no one will recognise me," Ivy said as she paused to catch her breath. Although she said this, Samuel did not feel at ease at all.

Ivy composed herself as she made to enter the hall but surprisingly she was blocked.

"What is it?" Ivy asked, sounding very offended.

"Everyone who enters the hall has to be searched…,"

"What insolence!" Ivy said, her voice rising higher than normal. If people were not there she would have snapped the young police officer's neck for daring to obstruct her path.

"That is the order and it must be obeyed…,"

"She is with me," a cool voice belonging to a guy said before the guy showed himself.

"Young Master Mo," the police officer showed his respect by bowing to the guy who seemed to be the same age as him.

Ivy paid no attention to the guy's face. All she wanted to do was to enter the hall and find a way to leave the hotel as soon as possible.

"Let her in," the young man in red blazers said as his gaze focused on the face of the lady who wasn't even staring at him.

"But…," The police officer stepped away when the young man's once gentle gaze turned to a murderous one.

Ivy walked into the hall not sparing the guy who helped her a glance.

"My name is Raymond…,"

"Sorry but I am not interested," Ivy walked past him to the annoyance and shock of those whose eyes were on the tall handsome guy.

The socialites began murmuring about what just happened and as usual, Ivy paid no attention to them.

About five minutes later, the policeman whom she met on the rooftop entered the hall. He searched for her after giving his men her description.

"Goddamn it! This can't be happening," Ivy standing on the pavement ready to use the rope she had hidden under her dress remarked when she realised that her rope was tampered with too.

"What is going on there? Were you able to leave," Samuel talked through the earbud?

"My rope was tampered with too. I am trapped here without any escape route. I swear I will kill the one who did this to me," Ivy muttered as she clenched her fist tightly.

"Darn, who would do such a thing to you? Let me help…,"

"I recall saying no. You know I won't change my mind about it," Ivy said in her stern tone as she looked down to see the distance.

She clasped her fist when she saw how high up the distance was. If only they were on the fifth or fourth floor and not the twenty floor, she wouldn't have a problem jumping down.

Just then the policeman got a glimpse of Ivy's face.

He alerted his subordinates in an instant. "She is the one who killed Prime Minister Benjamin Franklin," the policeman announced, pointing his gun at Ivy who was still standing close to the pavement.

Those standing close to where Ivy stood began running away from where she stood.

Her eyes darted from one murmuring socialite to the other. Their scornful look did not escape her notice.

Ivy's eyes finally moved to the policemen standing pointing their guns at her.

If only their Academy did not have the rule that says they can't disclose their identity to the public, handling these men who think they are protected because they have their guns with them would have been a piece of cake.

She could fight a hundred policemen with guns and will not sustain even a scratch if she transformed into her true form.

"Your hands in the air," the same policeman ordered.

Ivy chuckled as she took a step forward, "And what will you do if I refuse to obey your order?".

"Stand where you are," The man ordered once again when Ivy didn't stop.

All she needs is to snatch a gun from one of the police officers and then all of them will be at her mercy.

"Ivy, what are you up to? Don't try anything stupid there…," The earbud got disconnected before the anxious Samuel could complete his sentence.

"I said stop there," The man repeated when Ivy was just a few steps away from where about twenty police officers lined up with guns pointing at Ivy.

'I just need to get closer. Just a little bit closer!'

Ivy took another bold step forward only to stagger backwards when the policeman released a bullet into her stomach.

'If you think a bullet can take me down then you are wrong'.

Ivy stands erect as if nothing happened. She took a step forward despite the policeman's repeated warning.

Her stubbornness was one the police had never seen.

He knew why the lady was stubbornly approaching them despite his warning so he released the trigger again and another bullet got stuck into her upper abdomen.

Ivy groaned in pain as she gripped her stomach.

'I will never accept defeat. The word 'Defeat' is not in my dictionary'

Ivy pulled out the spoilt gun she had hidden at her knee sheath.

She pointed at the policeman who shot her.

All the guests began shouting when they realised that the scene wasn't as easy as they thought.

"Fire," The man gave the order when he saw Ivy release the trigger.

'What a scared idiot he is'

Ivy staggered backwards as bullets got buried into every part of her body.

What shocked everyone most was when they saw that the lady was still alive and standing.

"My life is in my hands. Every man for himself," Ivy muttered on seeing the police officers approach where she stood.

Before they get even closer the wounded lady whose right leg she couldn't lift falls backwards on the pavement leaving everyone perplexed.

The policemen standing on the pavement watched as the lady fell off such a great height.
