Chapter 53 - 53 - Practice

Knowing that they were coming tomorrow, Jack could relax and continue to experiment with peace of mind.

But first, he wanted to use the energy he had right now to level up, that way he can regenerate his energy completely and have more to experiment with.

Having made up his mind and thought of a plan of action for now Jack enacted it right away.

Jack moved behind David and focused his will on his hand before patting David on the shoulder.

David stiffened as soon as he felt something touch his shoulder.

"What's wrong?"

Sarah saw him acting weird so she asked David to make sure he was okay.

"Nothing, I think Jack was just patting my back. " David replied.

"Do you think he wants something?" Sarah asked because she thought jack might be trying to get David's attention.

"Maybe?" David said unsure about what Jack would want.

Jack was disappointed, they're too used to him and don't get scared much he only got 1% from that.

As Jack thought about what to do next, Sarah spoke to David.

"Did you leave the TV on for him?"

"No, it was quiet today so I didn't think about it," David replied remembering turning the TV off when he was called for Dinner.

"Maybe that's what he wants." Sarah assumed since she couldn't think of any other reason why Jack would pat her husband's shoulder.

"I guess..." David said as he got up and moved to the living room.

Jack was ecstatic, he was just thinking about how to separate David from the mother and daughter when Saran gave him a nice assist.

Knowing David was going to the living room, Jack immediately phased through the wall and possessed Mr.Teddy bear.

He hoped this would be enough to scare David for the final bit and level up.

Jack didn't have to wait long as a few seconds later David entered the living room walking straight toward the remote to turn the TV on for him.

Jack waited till David walked past him before he got up using the doll and walked as silently as possible behind David.

Jack watched as David turned the TV on and turned to leave the living room planning to return to the kitchen to converse with his wife when he froze in fear.

Mr.Teddy(Jack) was standing right in front of him staring at him.

Jack watched as David froze and his face changed into fear instantly.

However, Jack didn't hear any system notification so he knew this wasn't enough.

Jack suddenly started moving into a full sprint at David who immediately reacted by backpedaling.

Unfortunately, David wasn't paying attention and tripped onto his ass not even being able to retreat two steps, making it easy for Jack to catch him.

David was hyperventilating by this point as he closed his eyes and put his arms up in a protective gesture as Jack leaped at him.

*Ding*

After Jack leaped at him he heard a ding from the system so he immediately unpossessed Mr.Teddy not wanting to waste his completely regenerated energy.

David only felt a soft thing but his arms before falling onto his chest.

Confused he put his arms down to look only to see a lifeless doll laying on him.

David didn't question what just happened and just accepted it.

David immediately picked it up and threw it toward the corner where Angelica's other toys were and then got up off his ass and walked quickly back to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Jack was excitedly checking his status.

'Finally Level 6, and my energy has increased by a third and is completely full.'

'Time to experiment.' Jack happily thought as he ignored how he got this level up by terrorizing David with his nonsensical fear of toys coming alive to attack him.

Jack closed his status before making his way to the basement door and phasing through it and making his way down the stairs.

After he got to the center of the basement Jack immediately started his practice again.

He focused on the image of a ball of mist forming in his hand and then willed it to happen.

Jack focused for 15 seconds before a swirling mist started forming into a ball in his hand.

As soon as it was completely formed Jack let the image fade from his mind and watched as the ball dissipated.

'That was faster than normal, I wonder why...' Jack formed the mist ball much quicker this time and after some thought, he guessed that it had to do with his mood.

Earlier he was worried about leveling even if subconsciously.

So with a lighter mood and having got the level up off his shoulders he was able to focus much more and faster than earlier.

'That's good and bad...'

' If I'm in a relaxed state it will become easier but if I'm in a stressful situation it might take way longer than when I'm relaxed and just practicing.'

'Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it right now, I can't just will myself to become stressed and then practice forming the mist under pressure...' Jack couldn't think of a way to practice under pressure.

He could only experience it when the time comes and in the meanwhile hope that he doesn't choke up and get himself killed if he struggles to form the mist under pressure.

He wasn't sure he could do it while being attacked by an evil spirit or who knows what else is out there.

'Enough about that, I can only do my best and practice what I can now.' Jack slapped his cheeks to gather himself, he can't be distracted by what-ifs.

After focusing on his practice Jack practiced many times and eventually got his mist ball forming time down to 10 seconds after a couple of hours.

After two hours he started getting tired so he stopped immediately and tried to heal himself.

Fortunately, he didn't lose energy so he wasn't injured.

He didn't dare continue though because he felt that things would become worse if he tried too hard to the point of energy exhaustion.
