Chapter 57 - 57 - Practice 4.0

While thinking about why he was hurt, Jack realized he stopped losing energy and felt better so he stopped his ability and resume thinking.

After thinking for a while could only conclude that somehow he had overextended himself by the amount of detail he put into the mist figure.

'Is it the detail?'

'It couldn't be the quantity of mist this time right?'

'I was able to do the simple human-sized and shaped mist without issue, so why did I suddenly start getting weary when I added details?'

Jack had no clue why but he knew he had to be careful now that he knew that too much detail could hurt him.

Jack opened his status and checked his energy levels.

'I still have a bit of energy left, should I just continue practicing my formation time or just save my energy?'

After thinking about his options and the risks, he eventually decided to still practice for a bit.

'I'll practice for a little bit longer but I will slowly get more detailed with my mist figure so that I can see where my limits lay if I can do so.' Jack planned his next actions in his head.

He figured that he somehow used too much of his 'willpower' on the details of the image and so he hurt himself.

Did he drain his 'willpower'?

If he did that might also mean he shouldn't practice and he should rest.

However, he wanted to see if he could still perform his mist ability first and then heal himself right after to see if his 'willpower' is actually drained.

Will it affect his ability or maybe he just exceeded what his current 'willpower' is capable of when the image that he tried to form was too detailed?

To find out Jack has to experiment and so he got to it immediately.

Jack lifted his hand and willed the ball of mist to appear in his hand.

After practicing so much it easily and immediately formed in a swirling fashion.

Jack held it there for a bit before releasing it.

After that, he put his hands on his chest and tried to heal himself.

He sighed in relief when he saw no energy drain.

'Fortunately, it didn't drain my energy.'

'That means that it's not because my willpower was drained, but probably because it exceeded my will powers ability to withstand.'

'How does my willpower increase though?' Jack wondered as he put a hand to his chin in thought.

Jack stared blankly at the air as he thought hard about how to increase his willpower.

After a few minutes of nothing coming to him, he decided to check his status.

When he did he didn't see anything new or different.

'Maybe it's a hidden stat that increases with every level?'

'Maybe when my energy is increased consequently my willpower is also increased to be able to handle that energy...'

'Although I have no proof, it would make sense and I feel that might be right.' Jack's gut told him he was at least close if not right.

'Well, this means I should slowly increase in detail when I make something so that I can find my current limits.' Jack planned out his next practice.

'But for now, I guess I should stop.' Jack decoded when he saw his energy was getting low.

'I need to be full tonight so that I can be prepared for whatever will happen when I click continue on that notification.' Jack said to himself before he proceeded to go upstairs to check on the family.

I'm sorry for the short chapter, I'm really busy lately and I have tried to get at least 1k words out a day but today I'm particularly busy and couldn't even get 600 words.

I honestly debated not even releasing this chapter today and just taking a day off because it wasn't up to my word count but I didn't want to release absolutely nothing.

I might cut down on 5 chapters a week so I can have weekends off.

Not that I won't write on weekends but if I can write and not have to release a chapter, I can stockpile those for when I'm busy and can't write a chapter that day.

I'm still a newbie writer and I'm learning what works for me so I don't lose motivation to write.

I am doing this as a hobby while making absolutely nothing, so please forgive me, I'm sure anyone who enjoys my story won't want me to lose motivation and get stuck or drop it.
