Chapter 56 - 56 - Practice 3.0

The couple's conversation died down and eventually, breakfast was ready.

"Can you wake up Angelica for me?" Sarah asked David as she started setting the table up.

"Sure." after agreeing David stood up from his seat before exiting the kitchen.

A few minutes later, Sarah had set the table, and breakfast was served by the time David came back with a sleepy Angelica in his arms.

When David entered he saw Sarah was seared so he went straight for his daughter's seat and gently placed her into it before he sat at his seat.

"It's as delicious as always dear." David took a bite and complimented his wife.

"You never have anything to criticize about my cooking." Sarah retorted when she heard his compliment.

"That's because everything you make is great." David kept flattering her.

Sarah rolled her eyes and ignored him to focus on her food.

Half an hour later the family had finished eating and the father-daughter duo left the kitchen and started watching TV while Sarah washes the dishes and cleaned up.

Jack joined them in watching TV while he waited for his energy to regenerate.

.....

It was around noon when Sarah finished cleaning the house up for when the guests got here.

Jack knew that the crew would be coming soon, so although he hadn't fully regenerated his energy, he decided that he should start his experiments and practice.

Having thought about it and made his decision Jack stood up from his spot on the couch and then walked to the basement door.

He phased through it and headed to his spot in the basement where he usually practiced so he could time himself at a clock that is down there.

'Okay, first practice forming a human shape as fast as possible and then try to make it larger.'

Jack went over his plans in his head as he formed the image and willed it to happen after lifting his hand with his palm facing upwards.

After concentrating his will for 18 seconds mist swirled around his hand and merged into a human-shaped figure.

'Not bad, A little faster than before.' Jack thought to himself as he let the image fade from his mind.

After he relaxed from concentrating his will on forming the image in his mind, he took a minute break before continuing.

An hour later Jack got his formation time down to 10 seconds.

'Well, I guess that's all I can get it to, for now, I still need to try and make it human-sized.' Jack decided when he checked his energy and saw that he had just a little above half left.

Jack formed the small-sized mist figure first in front of him on the floor before he willed it to be bigger.

After about another half minute more mist swirled around and formed a human-sized mist figure.

'Took a bit but it looks good.' Jack made sure to keep his focus as he inspected the mist figure so it didn't dissipate.

After he inspected it for a bit he let his focus slip and watched as it dispersed.

'The only problem is that I don't know if it would work as a distraction from other spiritual entities.'

'Obviously, the living would see it and think nothing of it because they can't see me to begin with, but if spirits can see me, It probably wouldn't work because I don't think I look anything like that.' Jack looked at his ghostly hands as he thought about it.

He doesn't know exactly what he looks like because he can't see himself in a mirror but he can see his hands, body, and legs.

He can say for sure that the way he sees himself is basically the same as when he was alive except he is more transparent.

'Maybe I can try to make it look more like my spiritual form, but it might be hard to image considering I don't know what my face looks like.' Jack thought and despite his misgivings about not knowing what his face looks like, he immediately tried to put it into action.

To begin with, he pictured himself like he was staring in a mirror standing in front of him and made himself look transparent.

After he created the image and held it, he willed it to appear in front of him.

After a minute the mist swirled and gathered into his image.

Jack kept it for a bit as he inspected it before he let it dissipate.

However, although it was much more detailed than the base human-shaped figure that he first tried, there were still a few problems.

For example, his face was much less transparent than the rest of his body, he assumed it was because he had a harder time picturing it like that since he hasn't seen it.

Also, he still felt like there was something off about it, it just didn't seem like himself...

After thinking about it for a bit when he finally realized that it is basically a still image.

There is no life to it.

'Oh God, if I have to picture it moving and acting like a person...'

Jack knew right away that it wasn't happening anytime soon.

He was struggling to even form it let alone have it move.

It would require so much practice that Jack didn't know how long it would take.

'Maybe I could food someone if they weren't looking directly at it...'

'Maybe from behind or something, the face gives it away almost ignorantly with how still it is.' Jack tried to look at the bright side but it didn't help much.

As Jack was despairing at the work he will have to do, he started feeling a little weary.

Knowing this feeling from before he immediately put his palms on his chest and started his spirit healing ability.

He started losing energy instantly ad his hands glowed green.

Jack paled in fright when he realized he hurt himself somehow while he was experimenting.

'Was it from trying to make it as detailed as possible?' Jack tried to think of how he would have over-exerted himself enough to harm him.
