Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: JJ

(JJ POV)

I stumbled my way into our mansion, heavily drunk and dizzy. I knew in my mind already that dad is going to freak out on me again.

Whatever!

"Hi Rosa!" I said to our head maid and my former nanny.

"J.J, your father is not happy with you." She looked seriously worried but being the goofy monkey that I am, I just brushed it off.

"Come on, why don't you dance with me?" I said as I took her hand and pulled her in a tango like movement.

"J.J, you're drunk. Your father is pissed." She said as she struggled in going with the flow.

"To hell with him!" I said.

"Johan Jackson Vanderbilt!" A thunderous voice interrupted our dancing.

"Yes, Sir Jacob Vanderbilt?" I said sarcastically.

"I have had enough with your nonsense! Have you been out partying again?"

"Nope." I said, barely able to open my eyes while facing him. My vision is slightly blurry right now. I couldn't stand still.

"Guess what? I called Marco's mom, she said that Marco just arrived and he is in the same state as you. You're fucking drunk again." He said.

"Well, if you already know the truth, why do you still feel the need to ask me then?"

"Don't you smart mouth me, young man! You totally blew the original plan for today." He said.

"What was my plan?"

"You were supposed to attend our pack meeting and instead, you went out with Marco to fucking party. What the hell is wrong with you?"

"I don't know."

"Do you still want to be an Alpha, Johan?" He asked.

"Of course, I do."

"Then stop fucking around and have some discipline for Pete's sake. I mean, at least, show us that you're fucking passionate about being an Alpha. You're not showing any sign of interest whatsoever."

"What's the point of attending the meeting when we do the same fucking thing over and over again? All we do is talk about how to win the war over the rogues and this and that. No matter how many we kill, there will always be rogues. They will always exist. Maybe we should just let them be."

I then felt a hand slap me hard across my face.

"Wake up, Johan! Your grandmother was killed by a rogue wolf. I promised my father in his deathbed that I will avenge her and do everything I can in my power to extinguish every single rogues out there. Now, that we are close to winning, do you think we should stop?"

"No." I answered while looking down.

"Do you think that the wolves who murdered my mother deserve to live in peace after what they have done?"

"No."

"If you have a mate and your mate gets murdered by a fucking rogue, would you let him get away with it?"

"No."

"Do you know how many pack members we lost because of the rogues?!"

"Yes."

"That's why we are having these crucial meetings. It's for the best of the Vanderbilt pack. I don't want any one of my pack members touched by these filthy rogues. Get that through your skull."

"I get it."

"A good alpha will always put the pack first over anything and you should start caring right now if you still want to be the alpha."

"Jacob, that's enough, he gets it already." Mom said as he rushed to dad's side.

"No, Grace! He has to know, he has to learn. Otherwise, he's just going to keep slacking off."

"Let me talk to him. Come here, son!" Mom said as she pulled me to the side of the room.

"Son, anytime now, you're going to know who your mate is. You have to take this seriously because this is no walk in the park. We're dealing with a powerful group of enemies here and if you keep slacking off, you might fail to protect your pack and your future Luna. Are you going to let that happen?"

I instantly got sobered up by dad's lectures and my mom's pep talk. It was incredible.

"No, I won't." I said, looking her in the eyes.

"You need to have a commitment here, son. Otherwise, it's just not going to work. You have to put in more effort for you and your future Luna and your future pups."

"I will, I…I promise." I said.

"That's my boy." She said as she gave me a kiss on the forehead.

Maybe I needed that slap, it was a great wake up call. It still stings though.

----

"God, J.J! You really are an Alpha in bed." My girlfriend said after we finished our second round. I wrapped an arm around her and kissed her head.

I think I like Anya. She's smart, she's stunning, her wolf is strong, and I can sense it. She would be a good Luna. Oddly enough, my wolf never had an interest in her. I wonder why. My mom said that anytime now, I would discover my mate and I guess I'll be okay if it's her. Everyone in my pack is fond of her already. I mean, how could it not be her?

"J.J?" She called as she caressed my bare chest.

"Yeah?"

"Do you think I'll be a good Luna?"

"Of course."

She smiled at me before kissing my cheek.

"I love you, J.J."

"Me too." I said.

We cuddled for a little while before I decided to ask her something that really matters.

"Anya?"

"Hmm?"

"What if…"

"What if what, J.J.?"

"What if the moon goddess pairs us with other wolves?" I asked.

"Nonsense, I am very certain that our wolves would want each other. They just haven't realized it yet. It takes a while for the longing to happen J.J.! Don't worry, the moon goddess won't make a mistake."

"I guess."

----

After Anya left, I decided to take the initiative to converse with my wolf.

"Hey!" I said.

"What do you want?"

"You don't really like Anya, do you?" I asked.

"She's fine, J.J.!"

"Is she going to be my mate?"

"I don't know. It depends on the longing that will take place. If I long for her, then she will be your mate. It's all in the hands of the moon goddess at this point."

"Well, when will the longing happen?"

"Again, I don't know." My wolf responded.

Waldorf school days are about to begin. I wonder who my mate will be. Will it be Anya or will it be someone else?
