Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Queen Agatha

(Ravine POV)

Frida and I are currently in my room, and we're already starting on our article assignment for the writer's club. I really am looking forward to writing about Winstead and representing my hometown in Waldorf.

I am proud of my roots and family origins and I am ready to express it here.

"What's your topic going to be?" I asked Frida.

"I am thinking of writing about what it's like to live here in Marydale versus in Winstead, and the culture shock I experienced when I set foot on this town."

"That's a great idea." I said.

We were brainstorming and everything when Jenny, Rita and Joan barged inside my room.

"Hey, lovelies!!" They greeted.

"Shhh, Sister Blanche might wake up." I said.

"What are you all up to?" Rita asked.

"We're just brainstorming what to write for the school paper. We are now part of the writer's club in Waldorf."

"Cool." Jenny said.

"How was your week by the way?" Joan asked.

"It was fun for both of us. Ravine claimed he saw the guy we met years ago in the playground when we were little. Typical Ravine, he sees ghosts most of the time." Frida said.

"Ugh, aren't you the most annoying person ever?" I said.

"Hey, have you guys heard the urban legend about the red forest here in Marydale?" Jenny said.

"What urban legend?" I asked.

"Oh, don't listen to Jenny. She just likes to mess with you guys." Rita commented.

"No we want to hear it really. What is it about?" Frida said.

"It's just basically about wolves and witches." Joan said.

"Just let me tell the damn story." Jenny said, already irritated.

Everyone then compressed together like a bunch of children, waiting to hear a bedtime story.

"18 years ago, a bloodbath has occurred deep in the forest. A pack of wolves and a coven of powerful witches engaged in a hardcore and brutal combat. These wolves are out for blood and they are out to get the Queen witch, Agatha. You see, Agatha is the most powerful supernatural creature to ever exist. The wolves have a strong desire for her supernatural powers and abilities. They need her blood for them to attain everlasting power but first, they have to go through her witches. The coven won't go down without a fight so the witches did everything they can to protect their queen but their numbers are now diminishing. The wolves are slowly winning. Her warriors are getting killed one by one. The pregnant Agatha couldn't do anything but watch helplessly."

"And? What happened after that?" I impatiently asked.

"Every single witch was decapitated and torn apart by wolves. Agatha was all alone now, pregnant and helpless. The wolves surrounded her, making sure she won't be able to escape them. With one last attempt to save herself and her baby, she let out a powerful scream…an intensely powerful scream that sent huge shockwaves, not only through the forest but through the whole town of Marydale. It was so powerful that the wolves surrounding her shattered and exploded into a bloody pulp. The war ended and all that's left are chunks of witches' and wolves' remains. Blood and innards splattered everywhere, painting the forest red."

"And?" I asked.

"That's the end of it. Agatha won."

"But what happened to her afterwards? What happened to her baby?"

"That's all I heard, unfortunately."

"That sucks."

"Anyway, have fun writing you two, I'm going to bed." Rita said before exiting my room. It didn't take long before Joan and Jenny followed.

My curiosity took over my entire mind. I know it's just an urban legend but I wonder what happened to the child. I guess I'll never know.

(J.J. POV)

"Anya, I have something to tell you." I said.

We are currently in a café and I want this break up to be a mutual decision. I need her to understand that I already have a mate. I want her to agree with my decision and let me go so there won't be any misunderstanding.

"What is it, J.J.?"

"There's a reason why I have been acting so weird lately."

"Yeah?"

"It's because…" I said before hesitating.

"Because?"

Spit it out, J.J.!

"I already found my mate, and it's not you. It's somebody else."

After I said that, a wave of relief washed over me and it feels like something heavy was lifted off my shoulders. Anya was looking down the entire time, completely lost for words. She bit her lip before reaching my hand out.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I am sure. I'm really sorry but I have to be honest with you. We are just not meant to be." I said.

Anya was already crying, with her mascara running down her cheeks.

"I don't think I can let you go, J.J. I love you." She said.

"Anya, I know but this isn't what the moon goddess wants. I care for you really, that's why I'm telling you this right now. I don't want to lead you on. I don't want to deceive you. That would be unfair for you."

"I understand."

"Don't worry. You'll find your mate as well really soon and when that happens, you will be at your happiest."

"I know. Thank you for telling me, I appreciate it. I wish you all the happiness in the world, J.J." She smiled.

"Thank you, Anya."

Whew! Well, that went better than expected. It's kind of like a mixed emotions right now. I feel sad for Anya because I know how much she wants to be with me and I know how difficult this is for her, considering we have been together for a few years but I also feel elated just because of the fact that I can finally pursue my mate now that I am single.

I have to find him ASAP.
