Chapter 1 - An Opportunity

"Here's your badge and your hotel ID. You'll be working in the topmost floors," The manager said handing over the items to the new employer in front of him,

"What did you say your name was again?" He asked with a half-sneer on his face as he stared at the pretty boy with blond hair and big baby eyes standing in front of him.

It wasn't every time new employees were employed, and even rarer for them to be allowed anywhere near the topmost floors. This meant that the young man in front of him was there simply because of the connections he had.

"Te-Teran…sir," Teran instantly replied with a small bow of his head, still reeling from the fact that a five-star hotel like the "Holzer" would employ someone like him especially since even though his qualifications were above average, his social skills with people were terrible.

"Well Teran, if you hope to be here for a while. Be sure to follow the rules and do your Job. Interacting with the hotel customers is not part of it," The manager warned, a little jealous that someone like Teran who hadn't even put in years of hard work for the hotel, got an opportunity he didn't.

"Yes sir," Teran nodded with a polite smile on his face even if his blue eyes were twinkling in delight. He had accumulated debt he needed to take care of and he was also in charge of taking care of his grandmother who lived with him.

Getting the job with the great salary that came with it was a dream come true for Teran.

The moment he was done, Teran quickly made his way to the elevator with the intention of meeting the manager on floor 100 where he would be working.

Getting there was easy but the atmosphere there wasn't in any way friendly. It was one thing for him to be a new employee and another to be assigned to one of the most elite floors in the hotel,

"I'm Rasher," said the floor supervisor, a middle-aged woman with her black hair tightly packed in a bun, meeting Teran at the elevator the moment he stepped out.

"The manager told me about you"

"Re-really?"

"Of course and I've already made preparations for where you would be starting today" Rasher said with a smile leading the way as Teran swiftly followed behind her, her small heels hitting the floor gently enough to make tiny sounds.

"Aah…thanks,"

"Nah, you don't need to," she said right before coming to a stop in front of room 110.

"I'm just doing my job," She said, turning around to stare right into Teran's face with a big smile on her face.

"Everything you'll need has already been placed in the room. You can meet me at the attendant hall at the end of the floor," was the last thing she said, watching Teran vigorously nod his head at her before leaving.

"Isn't that Rasher," whispered one of two attendants to the other as they both stepped out of room 112, two rooms away from where Teran had been standing with Rasher,

"He's a new employee?"

"He's cute but I don't think he'll last long,"

"Of course he won't. She's sure to work him to death. I remember when I first came here. Even after working for the hotel for more than…kurgh…kurgh," the attendant lightly coughed the moment they felt Rasher turn to look back at them.

In seconds, they had scurried off and by then Teran had already stepped into the room using his hotel attendant card to open the door.

For such an elite room, one would think that the users would have enough manners not to leave it in such a disastrous state. Teran was a little shocked to notice that although nothing was broken that had to be replaced, almost everything seemed to have been moved from its original place.

He had only stepped into the bathroom when the urge to turn around and leave instantly overwhelmed him but he also knew that he couldn't.

Cleaning it was the cleaner's job and rejecting to do so or making a fuss on his first day at work would only attract unwanted attention to him.

"Get yourself together, Teran. You've done much worse than this," he consoled himself, slipping his right hand through his hair in a back and forth motion, a habit he usually did whenever he felt frustrated or annoyed.

"Look on the bright side. At least you don't have to attend to customers," he sighed with relief recalling how clumsy he could sometimes be around new people.

Teran decided to start with the main bedroom area with the intention of finishing with the bathroom when his phone suddenly began vibrating in his right pant pocket where he had kept it.

Since only a few people had his phone number, which meant that the call was most likely important even though there was no caller ID, he still picked it as quickly as he could,

"Hello…" he said, wondering who was on the other end of the call when he suddenly heard a familiar voice, one that instantly made him begin to talk with a huge grin on his face,

"Thank you…Thank you. I was able to get the job. I'm sorry for ever doubting you…" Teran said doing his best to show his appreciation since the person on the other line was the one responsible for the current job he now had,

"It's fine…It's fine as long as you don't forget that you owe me a favor. One I would be cashing in, in two days," the deep voice on the other end of the line replied,

Teran unconsciously nodded his head even though the person he was talking to wasn't exactly there.

"A favor? Of course. As long as it's something I'm able to do" Teran replied, unable to think of what he as a hotel attendant could possibly do for someone that was able to easily get him a job in such a big hotel.

"It's simple. When the time comes, you'll just have to open whichever door I ask you to," the voice said right before cutting the call.

"That sounds simple enough," Teran thought with a shrug before stashing away his phone back in his back pocket and going back to cleaning the room he had been assigned.
