"Come on Fae." Ling Xao called as he led Fae towards the cafeteria, Ling Xao had spent some time exploring the campus yesterday and was pretty well accustomed. As Fae sped up a bit to catch up to Ling Xao he whispered in a low voice. "I told you, don't call me Fae in public, my name's Effy." When Fae and Ling Xao became 'Blood Brothers' he revealed his true name, since he had already told Ling Xao his backstory he could understand why Fae felt the need to hide his real name.
"I mean Ms. Phantom already knows your here, why still keep the fake name?" Ling Xao asked, finding it pointless for Fae to keep up the façade. "I thought that at first, but I decided to keep my name sacred." Fae said as he tightened his fists a little and began to think back to his past. "I spent my entire life being weak, I was bully, beatdown, and harassed every single day. 'Fae' was too weak to stop that, but Effy isn't. I've decided to use this change in name to represent the change in my life." Fae said with conviction, with the power of the system his life had taken a turn, and he felt like it was appropriate his name changed along with that.
"So you want me to stop calling you Fae entirely?" Ling Xao asked with a shrug. "No, I want those close to me to be able to refer to me by my real name. A way to show my comfortability, around you I feel like I can be weak, I can be Fae."
A wide smile appeared across Ling Xao's face but before he could respond he was pushed to the side. "Move out the way losers." The boy who had just pushed Fae and Ling Xao out the way called. He didn't even look at them as he continued to walk with confident steps.
"Watch where you're going!" Ling Xao called out and was about to walk towards the boy but Fae stepped in front of him stopping him. "It's not worth it." Fae said as he and Ling Xao began to walk in the same direction as the kid towards the cafeteria.
As Fae opened the doors to the cafeteria his nose was immediately overloaded, a mix of scents assaulted his nose. There was savory and strong, sweet and soft, even a few scents that seemed not to mix well at all. A few of the students in the cafeteria who saw Fae's strong reaction began to laugh, one of them walked up to him and held his hand out. "It's nothing to be embarrassed about we've all been through it, we call it 'the first smell'" The student said as he explained most students were overwhelmed by the scent the first time they ever walked into the cafeteria.
"Don't worry it gets a lot better, it won't be a problem at all soon." The student said as he began to walk away. "Oh and I'm Xavier, it was nice to meet you." Fae tried to look up and thank Xavier but he could barely muster up the strength, after about a minute Fae recovered and was able to walk towards the café line.
"Should've gotten out of my way." A voice sounded throughout the cafeteria causing Fae to turn towards the voice and see a commotion across the cafeteria. The boy who had pushed Fae and Ling Xao out of the way had his foot on another students neck pinning him to the ground. Everyone seemed to be unphased as they carried on with their day to day, it seemed they were used to scenes such as this.
"I'm.... s.... sorry." The boy with his throat slowly being crushed said. He was a blonde kid with pale skin and fell more on the chunky side, which was a bit unusual for Mythics, especially at this age. "You think I care about your sorry? I told you I wanted that piece of Ogre meat. How dare you take it anyways!" Fae cringed when he heard the reason for the fight. Could someone be so arrogant that they'd fight someone over something so small.
Slowly the kid on the floor felt his air leaving him, he looked around trying to find help and locked eyes with Fae, the only person who seemed to pay mind to the situation. 'Help me' he mouthed out but couldn't get the words to leave his mouth. Fae knew what he meant and was at a crossroads. He hated injustice, but the year also just started and he knew that he shouldn't get into trouble so early. Yet Fae would soon be forced to make a choice, as they arrogant boy spoke again. "Listen here everyone, you're seeing first hand what happens to those who step to me. My Renx family has many strong fighters, we're destined to be better than some commoner trash like you all."
Fae's fist clenched tightly after hearing this. He began to step forward but Ling Xao grabbed him. "He's part of the Renx noble family Fae." Ling Xao whispered in his ear. "If I'm correct, that's Mark Renx. His older brother Crash is a third year." This took Fae back a little, he could care less about a noble family, but a third year was bound to be many times stronger than he was, if his brother were to pick a fight with Fae than he may really be in trouble.
"Please help me." The boy spoke again to Fae, this time the words left his mouth along with a single tear. "To hell with his brother, if he wants to fight me than I guess I'll have to beat a third year." Fae turned to Ling Xao and said as he ran towards the two boys ready to stop Mark.
*BANG* A giant boom erupted through the cafeteria as Mark was sent flying across the room. Fae stared in confusion at the scene that had quickly made a 180 turn. Another boy was suddenly standing in front of Fae, his red hair shining under the sunlight that was pouring in through the window, illuminating his body as rather than the school uniform he was wearing a tank top with the schools insignia. His hand smoking from the power behind his punch. The number two printed boldly on the back of his tank top. He spoke in a blank tone.
"Send Crash my regards."
