Chapter 35 - Field

Far off, on the outskirts of Levings Academy was Sark, he watched on as Edward failed to infect Fae with the worm, a peaceful look across his face. 'So he has decent control over his bloodline energy' Sark thought with a smile, impressed at how Fae attacked the worm with his energy.

"You had to know we'd catch you this close to the academy, right?" A voice behind Sark spoke. Sark had taken absolutely no real measures to hide himself, he simply sat a few yards away from the school with his eyes closed. He opened his eyes turning slowly to see a man dressed in red standing with a calm expression on his face.

"Hey Red, it's been a minute hasn't it." Sark spoke in a friendly tone, but the face he gave Red was anything but friendly, he looked at Red with calculating eyes, taking in every movement he made.

"I'm really not interested in fighting you right now Sark, just come with me." Red said as he began to walk toward Sark with slow and measured steps. "Black sends his regards." Sark spoke, this time he allowed his face to morph into a smile, even though it seemed to be robotic and controlled.

Red paused as he heard Sark. "Black is here?" He asked, the usual calm and playful look on his face replaced with a serious frown. Sark simply laughed in response.

"He'll be coming for the boy Red, don't bother fighting him." Red dashed at Sark as soon as he spoke, but Sark had exploded into a fog of black dust before Red could reach him. One last sentence leaving Sark's mouth, a sentence that seemed to float through the air.

"l'arc-en-ciel se lèvera à nouveau"

"I need to train him, fast." Red spoke as he too vanished.

"How was your fight today?" Fae asked Ling Xao as they walked away from their lessons. "I didn't really get to do much, the fights ended pretty quickly because of everything that happened with you and Edward." Ling Xao said with a sigh. "Sorry about that." Fae said looking down, he felt bad for taking a training opportunity away from all his classmates. "It's not your fault Edward was a psycho." Ling Xao said patting Fae on the shoulder.

"Could you guys break this up? Some of us have places to be." an arrogant voice spoke loudly behind Fae, trying to make a spectacle of the situation. Fae turned to see Mark Renx standing behind with a few of his friends. "I thought you'd lose all that arrogance after what Xander did to you." Fae said with a smile. Mark flinched at Fae's mocking words, thinking back to the pain Xander's punch had brought him.

"Xander isn't here." Mark spoke as he pushed Fae and Ling Xao out of the way and kept walking, or at least that's what Mark had planned on doing, but reality was a lot harsher than his fantasies.

Mark had tried to push past Fae and Ling Xao, but instead it seemed he'd just bumped into two brick walls. "You commoners seem to always get in my way, be good little puppies and move." Fae had barely registered what Mark said before Ling Xao dashed out in front of Mark and released pressure on him, almost causing Mark to fall to his knees. "You. Are. Nothing." Ling Xao spoke his words clear and concise, each syllable being like a slap in the face to Mark's pride.

"Let's go Effy." Ling Xao said as he stood up and walked away, Fae was in shock as he'd never seen Ling Xao act so seriously, something Mark said must've set him off. Fae realized he didn't know as much about Ling Xao as he'd like too. Fae took one last look at Mark who was on the ground covered in sweat and walked off with Ling Xao.

"Hey number nine." Ciera said as Fae prepared to open the door to Dorm A. "How'd you know it was me?" Fae asked as he opened the door. "I usually keep my spiritual field open as practice." Ciera said as she walked towards Fae. "spiritual field?" Fae asked confused. "You really don't know anything huh." Ciera said with a laugh. Fae simply stared at her in annoyance.

"Don't worry number nine, let your senior teach you a thing or two." Ciera said trying to make her usually robotic voice sound more authoritative, but instead just causing herself to laugh even more.

"A spiritual field is something usually reserved for those of the Spirit rank and beyond, but a few Human rank individuals can push themselves into developing one." Ciera said as she walked towards the couches ushering Fae to come sit beside her.

"Do you know the difference between Human rank and Spirit rank?" Ciera

asked as Fae walked over. "Their strength." Fae responded confidently, causing Ciera to break out laughing once again. It seemed as if Ciera was always laughing at his expense. "Crossing over to the Spirit rank is about dropping the boundaries of being human, it's done through the bonding of the body and spirit." Fae looked at Ciera heavily confused by her explanation. "Well it doesn't matter much right now. All you need to know for now is that you have a spirit inside of you, your spiritual field is accomplished by using your bloodline energy as a conduit to spread your spirit to your surroundings."

Fae was amazed as he heard this, his imagination running wild at what that must be like.

"With your spiritual field you gain a sort of 360 field of vision around yourself that can be spread out further and further as you get stronger, eventually you'll even be able to use it as an attack on other people's spirit."

Fae was let astonished as Fae finished speaking. The world of Mythics seemed to get cooler and cooler the more Fae learned about it. "So how do I do it" Fae asked Ciera with a smile.

"It's by no means easy, you need to establish a connection with your spirit and slowly force it out allowing your bloodline energy to empower it. At first the process will be insanely taxing and your spirit will be fragile."

Fae closed his eyes and tried to reach deep within himself, at first he could feel the bloodline energy pulsing through his veins, but he needed to go even deeper than that. Fae closed his eyes tight and flexed every muscle in his body. He felt a certain aura deep within him, he tried to probe it with his bloodline energy but it was so cold and had an almost repelling force on his bloodline energy.

Eventually Fae decided to just rip off the band aid and sent loads of energy into his spirit. Ciera who was watching the process inside him with her own spiritual field yelled as she saw this. "NO YOUR SPIRIT IS TOO FRAGILE!" Ciera tried to stop him, but how was Ciera supposed to know Fae's spirit was stronger than she could even fathom.

Suddenly Fae felt like he had perfect control over every aspect of his body, from the beat of his heart down to the feeling of each individual nerve ending. He decided it was time to try and send his spirit out using his bloodline energy as a medium. As Fae tried to allow both his spirit and energy to empower each other he felt as if his entire body was trying to eat itself. Fae had forgotten one very important thing, his bloodline energy didn't work like everyone else's, it had one singular urge. Devour.

Suddenly Fae's spiritual field was forced out, with two major differences from Ciera, for one it began to absorb all the bloodline energy in the air, the second difference might've been even worse. His field was dozens of times larger than Ciera's, and quickly expanding.

Arthur was sitting in his office reading through a report sent to him by one of the teachers when suddenly a spiritual field washed over him. "Who dares to probe around my academy?" Arthur spoke out loud to himself as he began to use his spirit field to trace the attack back, that is until Arthur, along with the entire academy, realized something. "My bloodline energy is being drained from me."
