Chapter 1 - 1-Something so sad in his eyes

"Tonight I'm hooking up with a random dude." The brunette-haired girl said as she put on her lipstick finishing her look.

"Good for you." She mumbled sarcastically as she flaunted her fake blonde hair. A smile twitched on the corner of her lip as she stood upright in front of the full-length mirror.

"You think I can't do that?" The brunette girl said.

"No. You can. It's just the random dude can be a serial killer or a weirdo with a foot fetish." She talked back.

"A weirdo with a foot fetish is in the same category as a serial killer?"

"Of course, they're both gross." She smiled as she turned to her, wearing her body-hugging little black dress reaching her mid-thigh, stripes hugging her chest in a criss-cross from her shoulders, the cut line from under her bust showed off the curves of her breast." Too sluty? "She asked and the brunette girl nodded her head.

" Good." The girl smiled and picked up her bag as she headed towards the door.

" Hey! Faye. Wait for me! " The brunette girl said as she quickly collected her stuff and rushed behind her.

_

The music roared as the vibration buzzed the floor, and everyone got into their zone. Lost in between booze and music, they danced as their bodies desired. Faye's hazel eyes dilated as her third drink just kicked into her system.

She got lost in the rhythm as she danced on her own with the beat. Faye was free at that moment. No one wasn't there with her. Not boyfriend. Not her mother. Not her friends. No one could tell her she was doing it wrong. It was just her with no one there to supervise her, instruct her, tell her what she should do and how she should do it. She was tired of it all. She wanted her freedom, she wanted to be carefree, she wanted to get out of the leashes she was bound to but the reality was much bitter than that. She couldn't just get up and leave. The burdens would always follow her like shadows.

Her trance of freedom was taken from her when she felt someone behind her rubbing themselves onto her. The feeling of disgust built into her as she tried to step away from them but the crowd made it hard to just rush out. Her heartbeat was racing. She was scared now. It was dark in the club and she was drunk. Even the thought of what could happen here scared her to her core.

"There you are!" She felt someone pull her towards them. "Where have you been?" The deep husky voice said as she looked and her eyes were met with a pair of beautiful dark ones. He winked at her and looked behind her. "What are you doing?" He asked the man behind and he became completely silent.

The man softly pushed Faye behind her. "Are you harassing my friend?"

"I-"

Before he could even say something the security intervened.

"Take him and call the police." He instructed them and they obliged then he turned to her. "Can you talk to the police?" He asked and her brain became puzzled.

She didn't know what to say. It was too sudden of a question. She just stammered and he read her expression as he nodded a little.

"Come on. You should sit for some time." He helped her to the bar and helped her sit.

"Get her some water." He asked the bartender and he quickly poured her a glass of water. "Just calm down. You don't have to talk to the police. I'll deal with it." He said as she took a sip from the glass.

"How?" She asked. Her mind was still a little fuzzy. Alcohol wasn't something her body could handle and usually, four drinks were her limit and her third one was dizzying up her brain.

"Just trust me." He said slightly tilting his head to the side. Faye just sat there reading him. She tilted her head as he did, studying his sharp features, his neatly done hair and the first few buttons of his shirt open giving a little peek of his chest.

She chuckled a little and his expression changed into a surprised one.

"You're a pretty guy." She said as she reached out to touch his face and he backed away from her. "Aww. I'm hurt." She laughed and he lightly laughed back. "So you're Korean?" She guessed hesitating and he smiled as he nodded. "Your English is pretty good."

"Are you here with someone?" He asked changing the subject and she nodded as she looked around the room.

"Tammy, she's a tall girl with tan skin and freckles. She's my roommate." She tried to stand up but he took her hand and made her sit back down.

"Tell me where you live, and I'll get you an uber." He said as he took his phone out.

"Nowhere." She replied as she put her head on the counter and closed her eyes. "I don't have a home. No one wants me." She mumbled in her low voice.

He sighed as he leaned back a bit. "I'm sorry to hear that." He said and she opened her eyes with her head still on the bar.

"Why are you sorry?" She asked.

She didn't know if it was the alcohol but she saw something in his eyes. A broken heart maybe. Sympathy? Pity? It was something so sad in his eyes that she felt it within her.

"You're miserable because of me." He replied and she laughed.

"How come? I just met you." She replied.

A hint of sadness in his eyes as he read her expression. He seemed to be holding back a lot. That man in front of her had so much to say but couldn't.

"Because you belong with me." He said and for a second she kept her eyes on him in awe but then started laughing.

"Then why don't you take me with you?" She asked slightly flirting with him.

"I can't." He smiled at her. "I'll lose you." He replied.

Faye was going to make fun of him but stopped when she saw the seriousness woven in his expression. Now she didn't know what to say. She should feel uncomfortable, she should get up and leave, he's just a weird stranger whose words don't even make sense to her but for some reason, Faye didn't want to leave him. His aura felt soothing, she had this urge to stay with him and never leave him. There was a familiarity in his unfamiliar figure.

"You still haven't told me where you live." He said.

"I don't want to." She replied nonchalantly.

"Why not?" He asked.

"You seem weird." She replied and he nodded his head.

"I'll tell you on one condition. Let me touch your face." She offered and he looked at her with a confused expression.

"Why do you want to touch my face?" He asked.

"Because I tried to before and you acted like an OCD clean freak. I wanna know if you're an OCD clean freak." She laughed lightly and he smiled as he gave it a thought for a second.

"Okay." He said as he stood up in front of her. "Here you go."

"Okay." She giggled as she sat straight up and raised her hands.

She softly cupped his face in her hands. At that moment she felt something as she looked right into his eyes. She saw a flash in his eyes, a blue glow that abruptly came and left. Her hands started to tremble as tears left her eyes. She was lost somewhere. She felt her heart break as more tears left her eyes. She started to sob as she put her hand on her chest. She felt suffocated as she looked at him impatiently.

"Why?" She asked. "Why do I feel this way?" She pleaded, trying to hold her tears back.

"I'm sorry, Faye. I shouldn't have come in front of you." He said as he tried to step away from but like an instinct triggered in her as she moved forward and wrapped her arms around him resting her head against his chest she cried.

"You can't leave me." She pleaded. "I don't know why. But I can't let you go."

He let out a sigh and kissed her head. "I have to leave. Promise me you won't look for me." He said and she shook her head.

"Faye, I can't lose you, you have to promise me you won't look for me." He said but she shook her head again.

He gently pulled her away from himself. He wiped the tears off her face with his hand and cupped her face. "You'll be fine." As he said that she felt the dizziness kick into her. "I'm sorry, I had to do this." He said as she felt her mind spin around. Everything went blank as she fell into his arms and swept into the darkness.
