Chapter 2 - 2-Dancing and Consequences

She kept swirling her spoon in the bowl full of milk and cereal. Her hazel-colored eyes kept focused on it as she just sat there on the wooden table.

"Faye, you're gonna be late for that interview." The dark-haired woman said as she entered the room.

She seemed to be in her 50s dressed in a nurse's uniform as she walked towards the table. You can even say she was an older version of Faye except for her eyes which were dark brown, unlike Faye's hazel ones.

Faye didn't notice her but kept her focus on the bowl in front of her.

"Faye! I'm talking to you!" She yelled but there was no response from Faye.

The woman walked over to her and firmly took her hand and pulled it away from the bowl with the spoon splashing some milk and cereal out onto Faye's clothes before it hit the floor.

"What is wrong with you?" The woman cried. "I've spent my whole life working hard for you! I spent every penny I had to send you to college and you get expelled! I give you space to live in and you don't say a word. It's been a whole year, Faye! Two fucking years!" She threw her hand away. "I'm tired of doing this. I can't keep dealing with this. You have to at least talk to me!" She walked away in an upset manner wiping her tears. She stopped and turned to her. "At least say something."

Faye looked up at her with innocence in her eyes. The hazel in her eyes popped more with her naturally dark hair. Tears formed in her eyes.

"I- I don't know… I'm lost, mom." She hesitated.

"Why? Sweetheart, what is it?" Her mother said as she walked over to her and sat on the floor beside her holding her hand.

"I can't feel calm… my heart is always impatient- my eyes are always waiting. I don't know… what he did to me… I-" She started sobbing.

"Who? Did something happen to you? Did someone hurt you? " She held her face as she wiped the tears off Faye's face. Faye started to sob more as her mother pulled her into her arms. "What is it? Whatever it is, we'll go to court if we have to." She said and Faye shook her head.

"It's not like that." She replied. "He didn't hurt me. He just…" She pulled away from her mother. "I don't know… I think I'm going crazy-If I… if I don't find him. I think I'll lose myself."

The moonlight peeked into her room as sat on her bed looking into the distance. Her eyes once glowing with hope and determination now seemed dead. The bags under her eyes dulled her face. Her hair was entangled. She hadn't changed out of her clothes for the last six days. This was how Faye was now living. The girl who existed a year ago got lost somewhere.

Her mind was stuck on one thing; him. Her heart and mind were always looking for him. It was like he had put her under some sort of spell. She couldn't explain it. It wasn't love. It was a need, she wanted to see him, she wanted to hold him, just like that night when she first met him. But she didn't know who he was. Or even where he was? She didn't know why she wanted to see him. It a desire, and maybe an instinct. It was just there she couldn't explain it. She didn't know how to explain it. It became the purpose of her life to find that stranger.

The curtains on the window suddenly blew in knocking down the vase on the table near the window. She abruptly looked up and saw a silhouette sitting in her window. She didn't see a face, it was just someone, a shadowy figure from where she was sitting but she knew who it was. She got off her bed and walked toward him. Slowly and gently she stepped toward him. The broken pieces of vase pierced the skin underneath her feet but it was as if she didn't feel it. She kept moving forward as she put her hand on his shoulder.

He turned her head towards her with a gentle smile on his lips. His features seemed sharpened under the moonlight as his skin seemed paler, and his dark eyes reflected into hers. There was something in them, something she felt as they met.

'Something so sinister hidden behind something so beautiful' She thought to herself.

"Do you want to dance with me?" His voice was still as deep and husky as she had remembered.

She smiled widely as tears fled down her cheek. She nodded her head and he got off her window into her room. He held his hand towards her. She was going to hold it but he pulled it back as she looked in confusion at him.

"Are you sure? There will be consequences." He said as he stood upright in front of her.

His stature was lean, and the way he was dressed made his figure more prominent with his black high-neck sweater and his black pants. He held his hand out again and she looked right into his eyes as the white curtains kept flowing in between them.

She knew it would be painful. She knew it would hurt her. She knew he would hurt her. He was not good. He was pure evil. She could tell just by looking into his eyes. But that darkness, that evil in his eyes it felt hers, it felt like she belonged to it and it belonged to her.

She reached out and held his hand. He smiled as he gently pulled her in and started to slowly sway with her. She fell into a daze as she traced his steps. They both danced under the moonlight inside the dark room. He twirled her around and pulled her closer to him as he held her near him. She reached out and touched his face and just like that night his eyes turned blue but it wasn't for a split second. His dark eyes had completely turned into a piercing blue.

"You've lost yourself, Faye." He said in a low voice as she looked at him in confusion. "I told you to not look for me."

"I can't stop." She replied.

He looked at her with a broken expression. He knew it was his fault. He knew he shouldn't have made his presence known to her that night. He knew this would happen but he couldn't hold himself back the same as Faye couldn't. He felt the same way as Faye did but he had much more tolerance than she did. She was innocent, she didn't know what was happening to her where he knew exactly the situation they both were placed in.

"Look at your feet." Tears came into his eyes. "It's a blood pool, Faye. You're hurting and you don't even care for it."

She looked down at her feet. She was standing in a pool of blood. Pieces of the broken vase pinched under her feet but she didn't feel the pain. She just stood there numb.

"This is the consequence?" She asked.

"If you get closer to me..... that'll be the end of you." He replied.

"I don't care." She said,

Those dull hazel eyes once more seemed determined. She didn't care if it meant to be near him, to just be able to touch him, to just even see her reflection in his eyes. She knew it wasn't love. It was something beyond it and she was ready to lose herself in it.

He cupped her face and she leaned into it. "I can't see you like this anymore. You have no idea how hard it has been for me." He planted a soft kiss on her forehead. "You'll find me. Just get yourself together."

"Who are you?" She asked and he smiled.

"I'm your ill fate." He replied as his blue eyes glowed into hers.

"What is your name?" She asked.

He gave her a sad smile. "They call me Nightmare."

"Faye!" Her mother's voice pulled her back into reality. The horror on her mother's face was evident as she saw her standing by the window holding onto thin air with blood on her feet. "Oh, Faye." Her mother sobbed out and Faye laughed in response.

"I found him, mom."
