Chereads / HIS PET / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Home Sweet Home

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Home Sweet Home

He opened the door that led us into a walk-in freezer filled with blood bags and frozen food items of what was probably a restaurant. Vampire slave trades used slummy restaurants to hide their activity. Even though we now lived in the age of vampires, kidnapping was still a crime in the human world. Once we emerged from the freezer, we entered the dining room of Poppyes . An elderly woman looked at me with saddened eyes as she went back to grab an order. I wish I could have told her don't feel sorry for me. I brought this on myself. With that thought the fresh cold air of Seattle hit me. I wouldn't have even known where I was if it wasn't for Mary, the woman I shared a cell with that held me together when I first got into Larry's grasp.

I looked up from the ground to see a limo and an old man that looked to be in his very late 90's stood standing there opening the door for us. "Home." was all he said as he turned to face me. "I have certain rules my pet follows. '' I raised an eyebrow at this not in confusion but in annoyance. It was typical for this crap Mary had made me aware of this. He slid the laminated three ringed binder over to me to read up on my "rules''.

DREW STARR'S PET RULES

1. Pet is required to address Mr. Starr or Master as such at all times no exceptions

2. Pet is required to wear what is assigned to her everyday as it's given to her

3. Pet isn't allowed to fight getting fed no matter what time of day or night it is.

The rules went on and on for what felt like a century or two. "Your rules are stupid I won't follow them.'' I said as I tossed it into the seat next to me and looked out the window. I was expecting him to slap me so hard that my neck would break yet he didn't. He laughed. "You're strong willed and full of fire, that's why I chose you." This guy was truly screwed in the head. He chose me basically because I was a defiant teenager. Lovely. The rest of the ride was silent. Mr. Starr had turned around talking to Mr. Luis about when we'd arrive. I fought to sleep for as long as I could, which was probably no longer than ten minutes. The last thing I saw before my eyelids fell shut was the "Welcome to Alaska '' sign gateway to the 49th state and to my living hell.

"Wake up Home Sweet Home." Mr. Starr said, tapping me on my shoulder. As I looked out the window my heart came up into my throat. His house was unbelievably beautiful. It was a black matte wood two story house with windows in the front of the house for walls. It truly looked like the house was picked up from somewhere else and set here in the middle of the wilderness. The windows were fogged over from the warmth that awaited us inside. Luis drove us to the back of the house into a ten-car garage filled with all the up-to-date luxury cars anyone could dream of. Mr. Luis opened the limo door for us, but I used the opposite door instead. This man looked old enough to be my grandfather's father. There was no way I was going to have him open a door for me when I should be doing it for him. I walked around the limo and smiled a sympathetic smile to the old man to have him smile showing me his two fangs. A twinge of hurt and anger ran through me. What kind of sick monster would do this to his poor soul? Mr. Starr opened the door and my mouth fell open. I thought the exterior was amazing, but it didn't hold a candle to the interior. Marble flooring ran through the entire first floor, sleek modern furniture, and a large roaring matte fireplace. Exquisite was the only word for it. "Your room is up the stairs they last door at the end of the hallway on the right, take a shower and one of the maids will have an outfit waiting for you when you get out then come to the living room when you're done" I gave him a nod and headed up to find my room.

As I walked down the hall, I looked at beautiful pieces of art yet the one that caught my eye was a family picture. It was Drew and his family. He looked no older than maybe twelve, thirteen at the oldest and he was smiling genuinely looking happy. The woman and the man that I could only assume were his parents looked to be in their early twenties. Impossible? Yes, but then again, they were vampires.

I came to the end of the hallway, and I dreaded what was behind the door. It was like that game show my dad used to watch where people from the audience got chosen to play some games and had to choose a curtain or box and see what they got. But I don't think I'm going to be as lucky as the people on the show and strike big. I grabbed the doorknob with my clammy shaking hands and closed my eyes and opened the door.

Opening my eyes, I saw a sight that I couldn't believe. My room was huge. Twice the size of my bedroom back home and three times more expensive than anything I owned. there was a king-sized bed decorated with fluffy pillows, a beautiful comforter that was as white as the snow outside my wall length window and reading nook, a light shade of nude pink dresser and nightstands, a golden vanity, and a brand-new apple laptop that sat at the end of my bed with a white bow on it. I couldn't stand there and admire how beautiful my room was because I had orders. shower, get dressed and go back to the living room. I hurried into the bathroom and threw the ratty dress Larry had me to wear at auction in the trash. I wanted to remember nothing from there. After I threw the dress in the trash, I looked at myself in the mirror. My once blonde hair was going back to its natural dark brown. My once skinny body now looked like a skeleton. My hip bones protrude out, my ribs were only being held in by the little skin that was on my body, and I officially had a thigh gap that could fit the state of Texas and probably half of Alaska as well. The girl I knew when I would look in the mirror was gone. "Rest in peace to the girl I used to know.'' I sighed as the dirty water ran down the drain.

I stepped out of the shower and walked back into my room to see a very skimpy red lace lingerie and a note.

Brinley,

Though having the outfit in your favorite color would make you feel slightly comfortable.

-Drew

This guy really had a sad way of trying to make me feel better.
