"That sounds rough. You said that you were taller than Chrysler when you shifted?" Sky nodded an affirmation. "You might end up being a big guy literally and figuratively. I'm not going to be around forever and the mantle of alpha normally goes to the son of the previous alpha."
Sky startled a little bit and pointed to himself, "You want me, the guy who just learned that he was a werewolf a week ago to be the alpha?"
The alpha shook his head and explained, "Not now of course. This would be years in the future, s you have no need to worry." Sky calmed down at this.
Sky and the alpha arrived at the house, it was a neat little house white siding, a little garden in the front, and a medium sized patio in the back, your standard cookie cutter house. As they walked in they could hear the luna bustling about in the kitchen. When the luna heard them she stuck her head out of the kitchen with a pan of sausage and potatoes to put on the table.
As they sat down at the table the luna said, "Oh! I just realized that we never told you our names. My name is Kirsty, and my husband's name is Taffer."
Sky nodded and replied, "My name is Sky, I'm glad to be back home." Kirsty's face nearly split in two from the size of the smile she was giving Sky.
They ate the rest of the dinner with the occasional topic being brought up such as, Sky's schooling, Sky's friends, and what he normally did for fun. Sky replied that he had been homeschooled for most of his life so he had very few friends, and that he didn't have many pastimes due to his excessive schoolwork.
Sky helped clear the table and wash the dishes. After things were cleaned and put away he was led to his room by Kirsty.
When she opened the door and Sky walked in he saw beige walls, a navy blue bed with a small mahogany nightstand next to it, lastly there was a small bookshelf next to the door filled with books and small knick-knacks.
Kirsty put her hand on his shoulder, "This was Lance's room, if you want we can redo it to suit your tastes."
Sky shook his head, "No, it's fine." Sky didn't particularly care for the beige walls he could learn to live with them. As Sky lay on the bed he thought back to his time with Chrysler, going to the market, long walks around the manor's yard, and the overly extravagant birthday parties attended by all the staff. Regardless of how much he missed Chrysler he couldn't get that boy from earlier out of his head. Something about his salt and pepper hair, his stature, hell even his smell hadn't left him. For some reason he couldn't get that scent of old books and lemon air freshener. With that thought Sky went into a fitful sleep.
Sky woke the next morning to a knocking on the door. "Sky? It's time to get up. Your dad wants to give you a tour of the pack lands."
Sky grunted, "I'm up. Just give me minute to get dressed." At some point in the night Sky had removed all of his clothes. As he dug through his bag he found his favorite shirt and a pair of pants. Sky put on the pants and walked out the door putting his shirt on. He didn't remember the layout of the house very well but he knew he could trust his nose. He followed it to the kitchen where Kirsty was putting a large plate of pancakes in his hands as he walked in. As Sky was scarfing down the mountain of pancakes, Taffer walked in.
"So, are you excited for a tour of your new home?" Sky could only nod in affirmation due to the inane amount of pancakes still on his plate, "I have a couple of places to show you, we're going to be out and about for the whole day." Taffer grabbed a premade breakfast wrap from the fridge as to not hold up Sky.
As Sky and Taffer walked down the street with Taffer pointing out important places and answering Sky's questions Sky saw the library. It was a small building with very few books besides the pack's history books with spanned 100s of years. Sky gravitated towards it, pulled by some unknown force similar to the one that had brought him over to Lance.
As Sky entered he could hear the rustle of old books and smell the lemon air freshener to stop the place smelling of mildew. Sky walked up to the front desk, "Hey there, I'm looking for someone. Can you help me?"
The girl behind the desk looked up at him, "We have a lot of visitors, any descriptors?"
Sky thought for a minute, "Salt and pepper hair, smells a lot like this place, pointy ears like a fae?"
The girl got an odd look on her face, "Lance? He volunteered here a while ago but I saw him leave for someplace called the Below. That help at all?"
Sky thought for a while and simply left after uttering a polite 'thank you'. Taffer gave him an odd look.
"Why are you asking about Lance?" Taffer asked.
"On the day that I was coming here I felt this sensation almost like a pull towards him. When I shook his hands it was like getting the best massage up my arm."
Taffer paled a little at this, "Alright let's continue the tour. Onwards!" This was said awkwardly drawing an odd look from people in the surrounding area and Sky.
The rest of the tour was performed quickly with what was a tour becoming a sprint through the village.
It was barely three when Taffer and Sky returned to the house.
"Why don't you go explore the town by yourself?" Taffer asked Sky.
Sky thought this was odd but decided to oblige and walked out the door.
Kirsty walked over to Taffer, "What's wrong?"
"I believe that Lance is Sky's mate." Taffer said as Kirsty gasped.
"Well that complicates things." Kirsty went into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee.
"What are we going to do? The pack will riot if Sky's mate isn't a wolf or something from this pack..." Taffer put his head in his hands.
"Well you're right but, Lance is from this pack. He was raised here and made several friends here, he volunteered at the library and got good grades. In a way he's the perfect mate for Sky."
