Lance awoke with a plan on his mind. For the entirety of his stay at Chrysler's manor it had felt like something was missing, a crucial component of his life.
Lance walked down to the dining room where Chrysler was waiting for him.
"You want to go somewhere?" Chrysler asked with a wry smile. Lance startled a little bit, how had he known? Chrysler looked at him and tapped his head, "You don't get to be my age without learning a couple of tricks my son. You're free to leave, just as soon as I teach you one simple trick." A cooking servant came to serve breakfast but Chrysler waved him off, "We'll be eating breakfast later, and tell the rest of the staff that we are not to be disturbed." The staff nodded and ran off to tell the rest of the staff, "Now that we won't have any interruptions I'll show you." Chrysler conjured a small ball of blue fire in his palm.
"Woah, can you teach me that?" Lance asked excitedly.
Chrysler chuckled, "Sure, just promise you won't abuse it." Chrysler wheeled himself over to Lance with the wheelchair squeaking the whole way. "Just imagine your energy flowing towards the palm of your hand." Lance closed his eyes and started to do as Chrysler instructed when he felt a hand rudely introduce itself to his cheek, "What in the great below are you doing?" Chrysler yelled.
"Just what you told me. Just drawing energy into the palm of my han-" Lance tried to explain.
"That is not what you were doing! You were drawing from your lifeline. Your energy is in your chest! You were drawing from the head. Never draw from the head, that's how you die," In a much softer voice, "that's how your mother died, she spent her lifeline to right a wrong I made."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know. Should I try again?" Chrysler nodded. Lance started to draw energy from his chest and move it towards his palm. A small ball of fire appeared in his palm. Lance started to cheer but was interrupted by a knocking from the front door.
Chrysler grumbled but wheeled over to the door with Lance following him. Chrysler waved his hand and the door opened a crack. "Who is it?" Chrysler asked clearly unhappy with the interruption.
"Would a dancing clown make you happy?" A seductive voice said from behind the door.
"Sky?" Chrysler asked.
Sky pushed the door the rest of the way open, "Hey there Chrysler. How have you been?"
"I'm fine but why are you here?" Chrysler asked.
"I didn't feel complete at the pack grounds. It was if I was chasing a phantom, something that had been there previously was no longer there." Sky said. As Sky was talking Lance had stared at him, "Oh hey Lance. How have you enjoyed being with Chrysler?"
"It's been good I guess. Chrysler was showing me how to harness my energy and make fire." Lance said. As he was saying this he was wondering if Sky felt the bond between them. He might not notice it because he isn't in tune with his wolf side yet.
"Well, stop standing there. Come on in!" Chrysler said, wheeling himself back to let Sky in, "This is a nice present, both of my sons in my house getting to know each other. Lance would you mind letting the cooking staff that they can bring in breakfast now."
"Sure." Lance said and ran off to deliver the news.
"Come with me Sky," Chrysler said wheeling to the dining room, "Don't tell Lance that I told you this but, I believe that he has a crush on you."
Sky felt his face heat up, "He, uh, he has a crush on me?"
Chrysler thought that Lance was taking his sweet time, but nodded now knowing that the crush went both ways. Lance walked in to Chrysler chuckling and Sky's face looking like a tomato, "They said the food is ready and we can go eat. Also, Why does Sky face look sunburned?" Lance said.
"Chrysler just reminded me of an embarrassing moment from when a while ago. Nothing you need to worry about." Sky said quickly.
The group walked over to the dining room to eat breakfast. The conversation during breakfast contained mainly talk of the pack, defense training, and how Taffer and Kirsty were doing.
After breakfast the group planned their day. Sky volunteered to show Lance the Fae Markets, due to the fact that they can be very beautiful this time of year.
"Woah," Was the only word out of Lance's mouth. Lanterns floated throughout the air, gemstones flickered in the ceiling hundreds of feet above them. Performers on the side of the road looking for some quick coin put the best magicians above to shame. The merchants liked their ambiance that's for sure.
"It's been a while since I've been here, it's good to see that it's still here like this. It brings a sense of nostalgia." Sky said.
"You've been here before?" Lance said to Sky.
"Well yeah, let me come with some of the staff to do errands if he was busy. However the best moments were when I came here with Chrysler for the equinox. The merchants cool the crystals in the ceiling and a massive parade simply pours through the center of the market." Sky explained.
"Would you and your friend like to do a challenge? If I can't guess what race you are I'll give you a prize." A performer on the roadside said. He looked to be fairly knowledgable with several books piled at his side practically making walls isolating him.
Sky and Lance looked at each other and nodded as if to say 'sure, why not?'
"What do you think I am?" Lance said leaning forward.
"Well you're not really a challenge, the offer was more for your friend behind you. Do you have any idea how many fae I see come through here every day?" Lance opened his mouth to respond, "Don't answer that. It was rhetorical but an accurate answer would be a lot of fae. Now what about your friend behind you? What are you?"
Lance was a little bit offended by the performer's disrespectful attitude but was calmed down by Sky putting his hand on his shoulder and walking forward. Sky gestured to himself, "This look isn't a glamour and I've lived here for 13 years. Those are the only hints you're getting."
The performer answered quickly thinking that he had won, "Why you're a human of course, what other creature could you be?"
Sky leaned forward baring his canines, "I'm a werewolf, asshole." Sky said.
The performer's face went white as he realized what creature he had disrespected, "You can take a prize sir! Anything here you want." He meekly said.
Sky looked around at the piles of book and found one he liked, "I'll take this one, a werewolf's anatomy."
Sky and Lance walked back to the manor joking about the look on the performer's face.
Just as they entered the manor and closed the front door, Sky tensed up, "get ready. Someone's coming at the manor."
Instead of the door booming open like they expected there were simply three rushed knocks. Sky opened the door to peak through it. What he saw surprised him. A sexually appealing female wearing bloodstained clothing was knocking on the door looking behind her even as she did so.
"What do you want?" Sky said through the crack.
"Please just let me in, they killed the males who resisted and said that they would breed little monsters out of the females that resisted. Let me in!" She shouted frantically starting to pound on the door instead of knocking hurriedly.
"Let her in. She's telling the truth!" Chrysler said wheeling himself towards the front door drawn by the commotion.
Sky opened the door to let the woman in and then barred it with a long piece of wood.
They brought the woman to the infirmary.
"It's Micheal, he took over! He came during the night like the monster that he is!" She said rapidly.
Chrysler spoke to her in a soothing voice hoping to calm her down, "Who's Micheal?"
She looked at Sky, slowly raising a finger to point it at him, "His uncle."
With this, she fainted leaving the medically trained fae to push back Chrysler, Sky, and Lance.
