Mason started off acting by reading the spellbook he got given. After trying to look as he was thinking for a couple of minutes, he finally started to construct a tiny part of the armour. Of course, he failed repeatedly for about 10 minutes.
While Mason had it easy, the rest was struggling. This time, even Remi could be seen slightly frustrated by the difficulty. It would take a normal Mage around 10 hours of constant learning to actually get it right, mid-level spells were no joke after all.
After about 50 minutes, Mason knew his plan was working. He just had to keep acting for 10 minutes and he would be done. His fake progress was already on the point of perfection on the spell, which meant he had some insane comprehensive talent. This was all fake of course.
Even though right now he was faking it, he did actually learn the whole spell in an hour. Mason appeared to have good natural comprehensive talent, this was also something that could be upgraded.
Finally, the hour came to an end as the examiners started to look at the progress made. The percentage of spell learned you needed to pass? Only 30%.
"Show off your spell." The examiner told Mason
Mason didn't use the system, that would be suspicious. Learning the whole skill in an hour is already insane, so if he could also insta-cast it. Even the God of Magic would be jealous.
After a couple seconds, Mason finished creating the armour. He looked at the examiner, it was the same on he got in the second round.
'This kid is something else! He has good spells, I already knew that. But even his comprehensive ability is this good? I should really go back to eating sand.' the examiner thought dejectedly.
"Mason White, passed the Lionheart Academy try-outs."
When everybody got told the big news, it was once again time for the headmaster to speak.
"Congratulations to everybody that passed. To everybody that failed, too bad. You guys can try again next year."
"Every new student must stay here for a bit, we will provide you with a dorm immediately. All we need is your phone number. After getting your keys, you guys can leave. There is only 2 weeks until summer vacation ends! So do everything you still want to do, or it'll be too late. I'll see all of you in 2 weeks then!" The headmaster said loudly
"Oh and also, Mason White, please come meet me in my office!"
Mason got scared shitless.
'Fuck, did he catch me. Is he going to fail me because I cheated in the test?' Mason was full of questions as he waited for his dorm key.
After receiving his dorm key, he saw it was number 253. He also asked the question if guys and girls would be in seperate dorms, and he got the answer that dorms were mixed. Receiving his dorm key also meant he probably wouldn't get expelled immediately.
He was nervously walking towards the headmasters office. He forgot where it was, so he had to take a look at the academy map first, making him even more nervous. After arriving at the office, he gave himself a peptalk as he knocked on the door.
"Come in." He heard a calm voice say.
"May I ask why you asked me to come here, headmaster." Mason tried to stay calm too
"Yes of course, I just asked here because I wanted to have a bit of a chat with you. You see, in the last trial, I noticed something different about you. You don't have to lie to me, you knew the spell already, didn't you?" Elric asked curiously.
Mason knew he got busted, so he decided to play along with whatever Elric said.
"Yes, I already learned it." He answered honestly
"May I ask how you acquired it?"
"I taught myself, isn't that how everybody learns spells?" Mason got confused
The headmaster knew the child in front of him was talented, but he just heard something he didn't dare to dream about.
'He taught himself? A mid-level spell costs around 10 000 gold in the Mage Association!'
"You taught yourself huh, alright, that's everything I needed to know. You're free to go check out your dorm now."
Mason nodded and left. He didn't like the suffocating air in the headmaster's office, leaving was probably the thing he wanted most. After leaving, he went to look at the dorms. He was very bad with directions, this huge place didn't help with that. Eventually, he just decided to ask someone.
"Excuse me, do you know the way to dorm 253?"
"Ah sure, I can bring you if you want." the boy answered.
"Yes, that'd be great! Thanks." Mason thanked him
On the way to the dorms he learned that the boys name was Harry, he was from a decently rich family here in the capital. Mason quite liked this guy, he was rich but not too arrogant. He got some hope for the people in the academy.
That all faded away when someone yelled to them from behind.
"Hey, Harry! Making new friends? They probably won't stay so for long after finding out that your family is declining!" the stuck-up kid said.
Harry got embarassed, and started running away.
"Your dorm is in this hallway on the left, sorry for the commotion!" Harry said while running.
Mason was now in a slightly bad mood, he just got some hope for the students here. And they go and pulverize it after only a minute. He kept walking down the hallway as he looked to the left.
"250, 251, 252. And arrived, finally."
Mason was happy and wanted to enter when he read what was under the number 253.
πΈππππ πππ π½πππ
It was small, but it was there! He shared his dorm with the princess! Mason didn't know if it was good or bad luck, but he entered anyways.
"Hello, Remi, you there?"
"Hello Mason, it seems we'll be sharing our dorm. So lets construct some strict rules." Remi said.
'That's the first thing she says?' Mason thought to himself
"Okay, sure. Go ahead."
"Firstly, I use the bathroom first. I wake up early so you shouldn't have a problem with that. If I ever see you peeking while I'm in the bathroom, just know even Jesus can't protect you."
"Secondly, don't interact with me too much. I am not interested in your useless affairs, so keep them to yourself."
"Lastly, keep the room clean. If there's anything I hate, it's a messy room!" Remi said as she finished her list.
"Alright, I have all of that noted." Mason answered, he found the rules fair too.
Mason found it quite awkward being in the same room as her, but it couldn't be changed. He decided he would try his best!
"Now all that's out of the way, lets go eat ice-cream together, roomie." Remi said with a smile so beautiful it could conquer continents.
