Mason thought he was dreaming as this ice-princess pulled him out of their dorm all the way into the city. He hoped it was truly only ice-cream they were going out to get.
'Did I offend her in any way? Well for now she said we were getting ice-cream so lets just enjoy that.' Mason thought, hoping her royal father wouldn't come look for him.
"So, why are we going out for ice-cream again? Don't you have to go visit your family for a while? After school starts, we're not allowed to go out unless there's a special occasion." Mason asked
"No, my family probably wouldn't enjoy me in their company. I'd rather spend my time with friends instead."
Mason felt as if he got stabbed by a thousand needles all over his body.
'Did she just friendzone me? Damn, what about my dream girlfriend!' Mason cursed
After arriving at the center of the city, they started looking for a shop that sold ice-cream. They finally found one as they had already walked 10 minutes, not speaking to each other once.
"What will it be for you children today?" The shop owner asked.
"I would like a mix of chocolate and strawberry." Remi said
Mason had never had ice-cream in his life. It wasn't very expensive, but his village didn't have anyone that could make it. Naturally, he didn't know what flavor to pick.
"Give him the same as me." Remi answered for him
"Alrighty, wait for a minute and it'll be done."
Mason thanked Remi as he would be in an awkward situation if not for her help. Remi just nodded, she didn't know he helped him just now. She actually just wanted Mason to have the same as her.
After the shop owner finished preparing. Mason and Remi both thanked him and went on their way. It was a summer day, so the temperature was sky-high.
They walked through the city, Mason just kept following Remi since he didn't know where to go. Directions also wasn't a skill he owned.
After a while, Mason noticed less and less people outside. The houses started to become bigger and bigger, and the people acted more noble.
'Wait a minute, we're not going to her house, are we? I don't think I'm ready to visit the royal palace just yet.' Mason was curious about her family situation, but he didn't want to barge in there.
"Where are we going, Remi?" Mason asked.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. After ice-cream I had to go pick up some stuff over at my place, so we're going there for a bit." Remi answered.
'I fucking knew it.' Mason thought dejectedly.
"You don't have to worry, although I am a princess. My rank in the palace isn't that high, nobody will care if you're there with me." Remi said, noticing Mason's change in expression.
"Okay, if you say so."
After walking for a few more minutes, the massive palace finally came into sight. It was about the same size as the academy, even though there were way less people here.
"What were you picking up again?" Mason asked, he couldn't be less interested. But he tried to start a conversation anyways.
"It's just some stuff that will benefit me in the academy. If you're nice to me, maybe I'll give some to you." She smiled slightly.
"Sure, thanks in advance." Mason didn't know if he was in trouble, that smile didn't confirm anything.
After arriving at the palace entrance. They entered through the gates that were 10 times the size of Mason.
"Welcome home, young lady." The man at the entrance said as he opened the gate.
"Do you have a visitor today?"
"Yes, we'll only stay for around half an hour so you guys aren't to be bothered for too long." Remi answered.
From the tone of the man at the gate. Mason could deduce that Remi was indeed not the favourite in this palace.
"What exactly did you do to get his tone to be like that towards a princess?" Mason asked curiously.
"I accidentally almost killed him, there are a lot more victims so you'll notice some people staring at us. Don't be too bothered."
'Accidentally... How the fuck do you kill someone accidentally?' Mason got kind of scared.
After arriving in her room, Mason noticed the lack of many things. There was barely any furniture, it was gray and dark too. As if she had moved out years ago.
He decided not to ask, she'd tell him if she wanted to.
His mouth went wide open when she opened a door to God knows what it was. All you could see was a mountain of magical artifacts.
"Why do you have so many magical artifacts in one place?" Mason asked
"This isn't actually my room, this is the country's treasury. It just happens to be next to my room, so i dug a hole in the wall. I have free acces to it now." She simply answered.
"You need something? I can take it for you if you want."
"No thank you, you can probably get away with it. I would get executed." Mason knew the difference between social-status here.
"That's true." Remi agreed.
After Remi took out around 8 artifacts, Mason saw her store them all in a ring.
"What kind of ring is that? It can store so many items in that small thing. That's incredible!"
"It's just a spatial ring, it has it's own storage function made with spatial affinity."
"Space affinity is pretty rare though, so these cost around 100 thousand each." Remi answered.
'100 thousand, I'm truly getting my horizons broadened. I'm but a small fish in a massive ocean. As insignificant as a certain pink-haired girl I've seen in an anime.' Mason dejectedly thought.
They left the palace after that, and started walking back towards the academy. It was quite late already, and the trip back to the academy would also take another two hours.
The two of them didn't speak much to eachother on the way back. Mason felt it was awkward, but when he looked at Remi, she seemed to not notice anything being weird.
After walking silently for 2 hours, they finally arrived in their rooms together.
"I guess it's finally time to sleep together, huh." Mason said jokingly.
Remi didn't answer anything. Mason couldn't see it, but she was blushing slightly. It seemed she truly wasn't used to someone with a personality like Mason.
They both fell asleep, awaiting the rest of the busy two week vacation.
