It was now a month later.
In this month, Mason hadn't really done anything of importance. He followed classes and learned about beasts.
He had gotten the opportunity to choose one low-level Ice Magic spell. This was given to him by teacher John as he was recognized as the strongest in class 1-D. Remi didn't make her appearance yet, and he wasn't officially the strongest.
Today was just another day of ordinary classes, he didn't really mind that though. Mason found studying about magic to be fun, the rest of the class liked the usage of it more though.
"Princess, you coming with me to class or not?" Mason said with a smirk.
"Yes! I'm coming" he heard her voice.
As the two walked through the hallways of the massive academy, they talked about the things they had learned so far.
Mason learned the most about all sorts of different beasts. He had never been in contact with any before he came to the capital. Apart from the week before his departure of course.
He had studied about 1000 different beasts so far, that was already enough to ace the mid-terms. Mason had learned about another talent he had, his memory.
"So far, the only thing I learned was the difference between the academy and the royal palace is practically non-existent." Remi said
"Every book we are supposed to learn this year were already part of my daily routine in the royal palace. The attitude of the people isn't any different either."
"Sounds rough, all I did back in my village was beat people up." Mason said jokingly.
Mason then looked kind of sad, as if he was lonely or something. Remi saw this.
"Look who's trying to be a bad-boy now, huh. Didn't take you as the type to impress girls like that, weirdo." Remi said, trying to lighten up the mood with a joke.
"W-What no! I didn't mean to sound like that!" Mason blushed slightly.
Mason knew he liked Remi but he didn't know in what way he liked her. He had never had feelings for someone after all so he wondered.
"Sure, sure." Remi just nodded
'She's messing with me! This girl.'
They finally arrived in class. Teacher John was already there. He was usually early but this time he was there 30 minutes before the bell rang.
Mason just assumed he needed a little bit more time to prepare his class today, so Remi and he sat down next to each other at the back of the classroom.
They sat at the back because it was usually pretty empty up there, everybody wanted to be as close to the teacher as possible. Mason just listened to the teacher with one ear and to Remi with the other.
After a little while, the bell rang and teacher John closed the door. Everybody who came in after the door was close would be sent out. After this rule was implemented nobody was ever late anymore.
"Okay, so today will be a little different of a class."
"I got message from the headmaster that today would be the day I explained everything about the dungeon expedition we will be doing this year." the teacher said.
Immediately, several hands went up in the air.
Teacher John already knew what they would be asking so he explained without anybody asking their question.
"The expedition this year will be earlier than usual since headmaster planned another one in the second semester. This is the first time ever so you guys should be happy."
Mason now stopped listening to Remi as he used both of his ears to listen to the teacher. This was the reason he was most excited about the academy. Dungeon expeditions.
"This year, the expedition will be to the Dungeon of Ferociousness. The most important facts about this dungeon will be explained in detail today. This is to decrease the risk of anybody dying." Teacher John sent a creepy wink out to the class.
"The Dungeon of Ferociousness is filled with Tiger-sort beasts. Hence the name."
After his introduction of the dungeon, he started explaining everything. The class didn't make a sound and was listening quietly for about 3 hours.
'Teacher John truly prepared this class well' Mason thought
'No wonder he was here so early, it's been going on for 3 hours and he's just finishing up now.'
After finally finishing and telling the students they could leave. Mason and Remi were speaking to each other about class.
"So, we will be going there for 10 days and in those 10 days whoever scores the most points will be number one student?" Mason asked for confirmation.
"Indeed, we can make teams too. We will team up, right?" Remi asked Mason with puppy-eyes.
"Well, how could I say no to those eyes. It's just that if we team up how will we be deciding who is number 1? We are probably the strongest in our grade after all." Mason asked her
"Didn't you listen? He said there were individual rankings too. You'll be fighting with a camera on you and based off that footage they rate the students too."
"Oh okay, makes sense." Mason was getting excited.
He could finally see who was stronger, Remi or him.
Also, this was perfect since he was still missing 600 points. The Premium Spin wasn't far off now, since the expedition would be in exactly 7 days.
"We should go shopping, we have to set up our own camp in the dungeon after all. We will need food and a tent, also one of us needs to be on guard at all times." Remi said
"Right, lets go." Mason agreed with her.
"By the way, I'll be the one on guard. I can't let a princess of the country be the guard inside a dungeon, that would be treason to the crown." Mason said, trying to impress Remi.
"Sounds good, you'll be the guard." Remi smiled, she wouldn't let this chance go.
Mason didn't know right now what he got himself into.
