Chereads / Pay 2 Play System / Chapter 25 - Losing a bet

Chapter 25 - Losing a bet

It was now Saturday.

Mason could be seen training his swordsmanship, he was sweating as if he had been going for several hours.

He had made solid progress in his training, he could now use a sword as an emergency weapon. His mastery wasn't enough for anything other than that though.

'Damn, why am I so bad with a sword? Magic feels so natural when I use it but a sword is just not for me.'

Today was his fifth day training with a sword, and he still hadn't learned the basics.

'I'm definitely going to lose that bet, hopefully Remi doesn't ask something too bad as a favour.' Mason was kind of nervous.

His talent for cooking was way higher than his talent with a sword, he had advanced to Intermediate Chef.

Mason decided he wouldn't learn cooking anymore for a while and just focus on swordsmanship.

The System, who usually made skills based off stuff he learned, didn't do anything yet. This meant that his mastery of the sword was still so low that it didn't even count as a skill.

He kept his head high and kept training.

'You think some stupid sword can bring me down?' he thought stubbornly.

After another hour of training he decided he would take a break. He had been going for ages after all.

*growl*

Mason's stomach made loud noises.

He would go eat in the cafeteria without Remi this time, he didn't want to be asked on his progress after all.

The cafeteria in the academy was insanely big, it could fit around 200 tables.

Mason picked out a table in the corner so he could look outside while eating, he also didn't want to be bothered by anyone.

He could choose his own dinner and decided white rice with chicken was the way to go, he enjoyed this dish a lot. His mother used to make it for him, even though they couldn't usually eat it because chicken was too expensive.

As he was eating a group of guys approached Mason.

"You the kid who beat Allan?" The guy in front of the group asked him.

Mason couldn't be bothered so he decided to ignore the group. If he had to fight everybody in the academy he would never have some free time.

"This punk is ignoring me? See that, guys?" The guy said.

"Yeah, how dare he disrespect you. He doesn't even know who he's messing with."

Mason looked out of the window while yawning.

'Another group of arrogant kids, your father won't save you if I break your leg in here. Why are they all so desperate to get beaten up.' Mason thought.

"I'll introduce myself for you, since you don't seem to know about me. My name is Llo-"

He got cut short by Mason.

"I don't give a single fuck who you are and who your daddy is, your daddy won't do shit to me if I'm here and looking at your own power, you can't do shit either. Go look for someone weaker to bully if you're truly that bored." Mason said, shutting the guy down.

The group of guys looked at the face of their leader, even though they couldn't see well because they were behind him. They knew he was very angry.

"You, we're in a group of eight. Beating Allan in a one on one is impressive, but you can't beat us all coming at you together. So keep your tone down, you prick."

Mason complimented this guy in his head for not getting impulsive and starting a fight in the cafeteria.

Mason kept ignoring them, and the guy knew this wasn't a place he should make trouble in. The group left and Mason was finishing up his meal.

'The academy truly is kind of fun, isn't it?'

After he finished eating, Mason walked back towards the dorms thinking about all the things he still had to do. He completely forgot about one thing though...

The moment he walked into his room, there was a girl waiting for him.

"The day has come to an end, Mason. Should we reveal the results of our bet?" Remi asked.

'Shit, I totally forgot about her, I would've stalled until later. My heart isn't ready yet.' Mason was in a tough situation.

He knew he couldn't get out of this one as he let out a defeated smile.

"I couldn't do it, if I had two more weeks I'm sure it would be easy." He said

"So that means I won the bet, right?"

"Yeah, I couldn't do, it after all."

Remi looked slightly nervous, Mason failed to notice this however.

"I'll give you two options in that case. Do I ask you the favour now, or do you want it in a couple of days?" Remi asked seriously.

Mason knew it was bad as he saw the look on her face. Could he truly survive? It looked as if she was the devil from hell.

"Uh, would you give me some time to decide. This is about my future after all." Mason said, trying to stall for more time.

"Of course."

Mason was sweating buckets, he didn't know hat this girl had planned for him but he was thinking deeply if he had ever offended her in some way somehow.

Sure he had gone against her wishes sometimes, but that wasn't enough to ask something too bad of him, right?

After thinking for about ten minutes, he finally answered the girl.

"Just ask me the favour now, I'll get it done as soon as possible. Stalling will only mess up my thoughts anyways."

Mason was nervous to hear what he had to do, she looked really serious.

Remi however, was having trouble getting any words out of her.

"U-Uh, the favour is to g-give me-

"To give you-? To give you what?" Mason asked.

"To g-give me a k-kiss" Remi said in a low voice, Mason doubted if he heard right since she was whispering at the end.

He looked up towards Remi and saw her blushing, she was as red as a tomato.

'She, actually wants me to? Shit, I really have a chance to get a girlfriend in my lifetime?'

Mason decided he had to act natural, so he just stood up and put up a pokerface.

"You just want a kiss? I was scared it was going to be something scary. If it's just a kiss, come over here." Mason said as he pointed towards himself.

Remi was too nervous however, and she couldn't move even if she wanted to.

'She truly is cute.' Mason thought as he approached her

He gave a kiss on her forehead as he patted her head.

"This isn't really a favour, but if it makes you happy." Mason tried to make conversation so it wouldn't be very awkward.

Remi had already hidden in her bed and she acted like she was sleeping.

Mason jumped in bed too as he thought about the dungeon.

'Only two more days, I'll prove I'm the strongest in the year and become the strongest Mage to ever exist!'
