Today was the first day of school! Everybody was excited and happy.
The students of the academy loved to go to the classes, because there's rewards for doing well.
Mason had also learned of this yesterday. Apparently, the number 1 student in the year gets the benefit of using every accommodation in the academy for free.
After the usual morning routine of showering after Remi was done, he headed out together with the blonde girl.
Classes in the academy started at 10:00 AM and they would end at 3:00 PM. They also had one teacher that taught them every subject.
These teachers had been successful Mages themselves, so each of them had plenty of knowledge about tons of stuff.
As they arrived, they said hello to their teacher. A bald man named John.
Mason knew they were just rumours, but he heard that teacher John was a level 75 Mage! He wondered when he would reach that level.
'Lets aim to get to that level before year 3 starts!' Mason thought, he knew he would improve at an insane rate with his System.
Finally, his first class had started. It was a class explaining all the basic stuff like level, dungeon, spell-levels and other stuff. Mason had already learned all of this in his time with Remi so he was quite bored in the first hour.
Luckily, they only spoke about the basics for an hour. After that, teacher John started his next subject.
He handed out notebooks to everyone. When they opened it there was already a ton of information about every beast they had discovered in the country.
Yes, that's right. The name teacher John had given to the second subject was: The Beast Index.
'Is this guy a chuuni or something, just call it Beast Theory.' Mason thought.
"When the mid-terms arrive, you guys will have to learn half of this notebook. So don't wait too long with studying. It's important to know a variety of beasts since blindly attacking may cause your death." the teacher said.
The teacher then started to explain a couple of beast in depth, the students were the one that chose which beasts they wanted to learn about.
After the beast learning class thing. The teacher told the class they were going outside for a practical test.
They were going to be duelling each other. The class found that a fun idea, since they were curious about who the strongest was in their class.
Most of them knew it would be Remi in the end though.
After arriving in a big field behind the academy, teacher John manipulated some earth and created a platform. Mason was impressed by how high this teacher's control of his element was.
"Okay, who wants to go first?" teacher John asked.
"I'll go!" Said a pretty big guy. Mason deduced this guy would be around 6'2, which was really tall since they were only 15.
After seeing the guy on the platform, most of the people in the class got scared. It was only natural, you don't get to see a 6'2 person who awakened as a Mage every day.
"Anybody who volunteers to fight Roderick?" teacher John said, the big guy's name was Roderick.
"Sure, I'll go."
The whole class looked around who had just said yes. After a couple of seconds, a red-haired girl appeared on stage.
Teacher John's face brightened up
"The first fight will be Brenna and Roderick, you may start when I say so."
After both of the students finished preparing, teacher John shouted start.
Roderick immediately dashed forward towards Brenna, he wasn't allowed to kill her or hurt her seriously. Violence was of course permitted though, so he didn't hold back.
Brenna kept her nonchalant smile on her face as she send out a ball of fire towards Roderick.
Roderick would easily dodge a fireball under normal circumstances, but this one had three times the speed and two times the power of a normal fireball. He was already close to Brenna as well as he had rushed in trying to hit her with his fists coated in earth.
The first fight was already done after only 10 seconds.
"That big guy is truly stupid, he shouldn't be so violent and instead think of a real strategy to beat a Mage. Has he just been brawling with beasts up until now?"
"Okay guys! That was truly a magnificent fight, does anybody want to go after that?" John asked.
Roderick was getting healed by Mages, he was knock-out on the platform.
"Teacher, I want to fight now." Mason said, he had plenty of experience fighting against beasts. But he had none against Mages.
"Mason, huh. Alright, I'll have to ask you to keep your power under control though." the teacher told him.
The teachers had told each other about exciting candidates during the try-outs, so of course John knew about Mason. He had killed a level 17 Golem beast in under 10 seconds after all.
Mason just nodded as he wasn't surprised the teacher knew about this.
"Anybody who wants to fights Mason?" John asked his class
"Teacher, I'd like to keep fighting! I'm sure I can be at the top of this class, so let me prove it!" Brenna said.
"Alright Brenna, show me what you've got!"
Mason just smiled. He had asked Brenna's level to the System.

'I'm sorry, but I've got bad news for you Brenna. Life isn't as easy as you think.' Mason thought as he chuckled slightly.
"Everybody ready... Start!" John yelled
Mason stood in the same spot as Brenna slightly hopped from left to right. Mason signalled that she got the first attack and Brenna didn't stand ceremony. She sent the same fireball that knocked Roderick out towards him.
Mason simply stepped out of the way as he watched it fly past him. He then took his first steps towards Brenna, he didn't run or anything. He just slowly walked there with a smile that oozed out confidence.
Brenna quickly fired a couple more spells towards Mason, but he side-stepped them in the same way as the first one. He was going for a total defeat, not even planning on using his Ice Magic.
Brenna was now getting desperate to hit Mason, she didn't know what level Mason was, but he was dodging all her attacks!
After a while of Brenna missing, she was panting. She knew she had used too much Mana, Mason knew this too as he simply dashed forward and hit her on her cheek with his fist.
Brenna instantly went unconscious and John declared Mason the winner.
The class burst out with surprise as they knew that they probably wouldn't be able to defeat Brenna with all their might, and he did it without even using his element.
