It was now two weeks later. The last day of summer vacation.
Mason hadn't done anything with Remi since the dungeon raid, he went there himself though.
Remi stayed in the dorm most of the time, and if Mason asked if she didn't need to go make friends. She answered that she'd never had friends.
Mason decided to leave her be, she probably knew what she wanted herself.
Mason had gone to the dungeon every day. So he wanted to see what he got from two weeks of grinding.
'System, show me every reward for the last two weeks.'
[Calculating rewards]
[System points total: 9435]
[Level-up x16]
[First dungeon-boss kill, Passive Skill: Beast-Hunter]
Mason was happy, he had saved up for 2 weeks. He decided he wanted to know what his first passive skill did.
'System, show me the explanation for Beast-Hunter.'
[Beast-Hunter: Deal 10% extra damage to all beasts.]
Mason found the explanation simple, but he knew the skill was overpowered. If he did 2000 damage to a beast he would now do 2200 in total!
This skill was especially overpowered in the future.
'Imagine that I deal 1 million damage to a beast. The total damage would be 100 thousand more than usual!' He was back in his delusions, even if he did ever reach that level it would take talented mages decades to get there.
After checking out his new skill, Mason opened his status tab
[Name: Mason White]
[Level: 26]
[Physique: None]
[Affinities: Ice]
[Active Skills: Ice Bullet, Ice Wall, Freeze, Ice Domain, Ice Lance, Ice Wave, Ice Armour, Ice Golem]
[Passive Skills: Beast-Hunter]
[Mana: 10 000/10 000]
[System Points: 9435]
Mason saw that his mana had stayed the same so he asked the System about it.
[Mana isn't based off level, but off Mana Practice. Level will only increase the strength of your body!]
"That's pretty logical I guess." He agreed
He had a whole 9435 system points to spend, but he was hesitating.
In the System Shop, everything that he really needed was just over 100 thousand system points, so he decided not to use it until then.
He could get about 42 normal spins, which was a lot. But he was also only 565 points away from a Premium Spin. He wouldn't be able to go outside for a while though, so getting those points was the hard part.
After half an hour of thinking. Mason came to a final decision. He would save up his system points and buy a Premium Spin.
His reasoning was that he was already the strongest student in their year, and they didn't have to go outside. He wouldn't be in danger, so he didn't feel the need to spend it on anything.
Remi opened the door and entered the dorm room, Mason didn't know where she went but he decided not to ask.
"Remi, who do you think is stronger between us two?" He asked.
"Well it's obviously me, I know you've been away a lot these past two weeks. But levelling up shouldn't be that easy. I'm also 99% sure I'm ahead of you in Mana practice."
"You probably don't know this since you learn this stuff in the academy, but talented people like me need less time to get more Mana Practice." Remi said
Mason smirked.
'If she knew that I got 11 years of Mana Practice in less than a week, what would her reaction be?'
He knew he couldn't tell her about that though, it was for his own safety.
After talking to Remi for a bit. Mason decided he was going to walk around the academy, he wanted to get used to all the hallways so he wouldn't get lost again.
While walking around he could truly admire the beauty of this place. It was bigger than Greenwood Village, which Mason found fascinating.
On his way through the academy he saw the headmaster, he was originally going to act as if he hadn't seen him. But the headmaster thought otherwise.
"Oh fancy seeing you here, Mason White." the headmaster said.
"Yeah, It's truly a surprise." Mason answered with a forced smile.
The headmaster chuckled slightly noticing this.
Suddenly, when the headmaster started inspecting Mason. He got shocked to the core.
'This kid levelled up this much in just two weeks? How strong actually is he? This growth isn't something we've seen in this academy in a hundred years.'
"Kid, it seems you've been working hard the past two weeks. Keep it up." he said calmly.
Mason got kind of freaked out
'This old guy knows my level? Is this the privilege of being strong? That's awesome!' He thought
"Yes headmaster, I'll keep trying my best!"
After their little conversation they both went on their ways again. Mason decided he was done walking around so he returned back to the dorm.
When he walked in, he saw a pleasant surprise immediately.
"M-Mason?" Remi said
Mason couldn't say anything back. Remi seemed to have just come out of the shower as she only had a towel wrapped around her body.
Mason had to block a bolt of lightning before yelling loudly
"Stop! You'll leave the dorm in tatters like this, I swear I didn't see anything!"
Remi quickly came back to her senses. She noticed Mason did indeed have his eyes closed. And she knew it wasn't his fault. She had come out of the bathroom like this and Mason just returned.
It was simply an unlucky coincidence.
Of course, it was only unlucky for her. Mason closed his eyes after he had already taken a peek, who could blame him though? It was harder not to look.
After Remi hastily returned to the bathroom, Mason sat down on his bed as he sighed.
"Tomorrow is the start of school, huh. Seems like only yesterday that I departed from Greenwood Village."
'I should call my mom in a second too, she probably misses me to death.' Mason thought cheekily
He was probably the one who missed his mother more. He had always been by her side since his birth, and since he never had friend. His mother was his only company.
Now though, everything had changed. He had already made a friend, maybe even possible girlfriend.
As he started thinking about those things again, Remi hit Mason on his head softly.
"You should've left me a message telling when you were coming back, but since I was at fault too, I'll let you go for today." She said
"Thank you for your lenience, oh almighty princess." Mason teased her again.
The two of them had become much closer these past two weeks, and they had already heard they would be in the same class. Class 1-D.
Tomorrow was the first day, so Mason decided to sleep early. He said Remi goodnight and slept.
