I stared at Luke as he had a giant smile. I felt my whole body hot and warm after his finger rubbed against my thy. Scarlet. I feel like she noticed but doesn't mention.
"So about the other day..." he starts calmly
"I would like to work with you..." I responded quickly
His eyes shone with glee "Well even if you work or don't work I'll allow you to stay a week for final decision... See how things work and take a decision at the end of the week"
I went to speak but Scarlet spoke "If she accepts this offer would I be allowed to work as well?"
"Of course... We try our best to welcome as many as we can... All with the exception of maintaining respect responsibility and communication... Violence is not welcomed" he explains gently
The best work environment that we need "So where will we be staying?"
He extends his hands and spoke gently "Here... This building here has over fifty bedrooms between the fourth floor and up are master bedrooms..."
"So half hotel also?" Scarlet asked amazed
Even I felt amazed "In a way yes... Only me and a few members live here... The rest live apart in their own little huts in the terrain"
"We are getting a tour of the place right?" I asked this time
He looks at his watch and smiles "Of course... Come follow me..."
We stand up before him as he was moving a few papers to the side. I was completely amazed by all of this. This is how he works. Is this what I would be doing also? Oh my god in some way I am excited for it. He finally stands up and I noticed Ashton. He had another male with him. The males here look pretty strong. I felt fear in some way. He must be another guard. They bowed a quick type of bow and Luke led the way. Scarlet and I looked at the two men amazed. We walked to an elevator. Welp. Back to the bottom floor. When we arrived at the entrance we were amazed by the security he has. Such good working men. It is full forest. I did see a bare patch of dirt with construction material. Is he expanding the sanctuary or something else.
I listened to the Titanic Piano type of music. I almost hummed to the Titanic song. So they don't have boring elevator music. It's all instrumental though. I can understand that much. I heard growling and barking. Are those the wolves? I got close to Luke who just chuckled. Once the door opens we heard the barking and it sounded adorable at first. As we followed him towards the outside. The barking got louder and louder. The doors opens and we see three large dogs running around. Playing with toys. I just confused them. But large dogs do have similar barks then wolves. The dogs saw us and they just looked even more playful. I swallowed a lump. I don't have good history with dogs.
But Scarlet loves dogs. I could feel the chaos of her energy wanting to explode at the sight of dogs. Someone whistle's and the dogs returned to it's owner. Scarlet and I looked to the side to a woman with white hair. She smiles at us and walks away with the dogs following her. Scarlet felt bummed out and I could understand her. But I am afraid of dogs.
"Here in the forest basically... Our sanctuary is about wolves but we got the barred at a distance... We made our own little town basically" he says with a gentle laugh
"Really?" Scarlet asked
"Yeah... We maintain the whole bonding with nature type of situation but only selective few are chosen to live here" he explains gently
He takes a left and as he kept walking I asked "How many people live here?"
He hums lightly and Ashton was the one who spoke "At the moment 97 members"
"So many..." I say out loud
"Yes... We still some empty houses as we want to expand a bit more but we'll deal with the problem later" Luke looked a bit angry this time but he relaxed
"Pets are allowed... Or is it also selective few?" Scarlet asked curiously
"Oh their welcome... As long as you keep an eye on them... When outside I mean there is an area just for dogs to their needs" Luke explains with a little chuckle
A little immature I see and I say with a smile "So this place is really so calming..."
"Yes... The selective few treats one another like family as some actually have children here also" he says warmly
"Oh my but ain't the schools really far away?" I asked worriedly
"They have their own driver for that... A bus driver is assigned to the students just to maintain their safety" Luke explains
This is heaven but suddenly we hear "WATCH OUT!"
I looked to the side and noticed a volleyball coming towards me but it got stopped by Luke just inches from my face. The air escapes my lungs finally. That was close. The teenagers come running in utter panic. Scarlet looks at me with a cheeky smile. She could have stopped that easily as she plays volleyball. I hate her at times. Luke's laughs at them and hands the ball back to them.
"Next time be careful alright" he tells them jokingly
"That looks like fun" Scarlet says with a big smile
"Do you wish to play?" one teen asked
"Wouldn't your parents get mad for talking with strangers?" Scarlet asked in return
They laugh a bit and run off. I felt confused. They feel so comfortable here. So no pedophiles? Weird. Luke signals us to keep walking and we followed. We finally reach the home areas. It really does look like a make shift town. There's one building that says Library. A small cafe. An empty building. Large enough to be a mini version of a town hall. Awesome. This place is were I love to be. We kept walking and we heard the chirping of birds. Even if we were silent just looking around it felt so calm. Everything looks peaceful. I am really loving this place.
"Now we will be heading to the garden" Luke tells us
"Garden?" Scarlet and I say in unison
"Yes we have our own garden as some of the selective few that live here enjoy planting so we have a garden for fruits... a garden for vegetables... a garden for flowers and a small lake with certain plants also... So we have five gardens in total as some fruits and vegetables are to be place in different areas" the second male spoke gently
Luke smiles widely and speaks "I have my personal garden for certain fruits so it is six in total"
The way he glances at me made a lump strat growing "So if anything happens we can eat from the land?"
"Depending... The selective few would place signs if the fruit is not ready or still growing... Or fermented..." Ashton spoke this time
"Yes... We ferment certain fruits for rums or wines" Luke says gently
I smiled so there is so much I can learn. I am so excited. I want to be able to have a mini garden of my own. But I love sun flowers and roses. Lavender also smells so amazing. But the scent of sweet nectar caught my senses. Nectar? What type? Its as if I tasted it before but I forgot the name. We took a quick turn and we saw three people making Pear Nectar. I swallowed the growing lump. My throat really dry now. That must taste amazing. I wish I could try.
"Sir..." a woman spoke with a big smile
"Alexandra... It's Nectar season?" Luke asked gently
"Yes... The pear are ripe enough to get the nectar... Would you like to try it out?" the lady named Alexandra asked
"Oh I appreciate it but not today... Maybe our guests can test it" Luke points at us
Scarlet and I looked panicked as the woman smiled even wider at us. She brought two cups of what they were doing. Scarlet and I hesitate at first but we drank a bit. I felt like if I grew wings. This tastes amazing. I felt eyes on me. Expectant eyes. It's smooth to the tongue. A sweet taste to it. It feels like you just took a bite out of a freshly picked pear. It's amazing. This tastes amazing.
I looked at the woman and say with a smile "It tastes amazing... Never tasted something like this before"
The woman squeals in excitement "Yes... It's not to sweet correct!"
"It's the perfect amount of sweet!" Scarlet says as she finished her whole cup
The three people looked really happy and one of them took out a gallon and started filling it up. I felt excited for it. If I place it in the fridge. Cold would taste better. They handed it to Luke. Covered with a string and everything. It looks in a way fancy.
