We found out the girls name. She is Sarah. She has a photographic memory. So she was able to graduate early from school as well as from University early with her master's degree. But she is an adult now. Basically. But she hangs out here being a wake up call. She enjoys waking her family up. I just looked forward as Scarlet and her were talking about clothing. We found out Sarah will be present in the party that Luke was talking about. She got even more excited when she found out that Luke invited us. She wanted to go shopping but wanted us to come. But when she found that we have no money she stayed quiet at first but smiled widely while saying to not worry about that.
This place is so weird. I feel a bit afraid at how they are. Once the elevator opens the smell of French toast hits my senses. Damn that smells good. I saw Luke in a table eating bacon. He has so much food. The woman in the kitchen sees me and she smiled. I think she saw Sarah behind us and I am just imagining things.
"Sit down darlings... I'll place the food on the table in a little" the woman speaks so freely and calmly
I wanted to protest but Sarah grabs me by the shoulder while saying loudly "Thank you girl... We'll be waiting!"
I looked at Sarah as she sat me down beside Luke. I felt my whole body start to heat up. I felt like laughing awkwardly. But I stayed calm. Sarah sat beside Scarlet. As Scarlet sat by my side. The table is completely empty. But there is trace that people ate here just a bit. It still feels warm. I don't know what to say. I would love to help the woman in the kitchen. But looking at her right now. I can see she is having fun in the kitchen. Humming and almost about to dance. Ashton walks in and tries to hide but the woman calls him out. How did she know he was there? I didn't even hear the door open? Not even a footstep he made. He was as silent as the sun. Maybe she sensed him. But wouldn't that be weird. He enters the kitchen and she hands him two plates. Looks like fruit from here. Luke places his hand on the table. I stared at it. He place it gently. Then I noticed his empty cup. He grabs a sausage and plops it in his mouth.
I wanted to serve him a drink but for some reason. I wanted to hold his hand. Wrap my fingers around it. I swallowed a lump and I raise my hand gently. Letting my heart and mind to control me. But the place was placed in front of me. Snapping me out of my trance. I quickly looked down and noticed french toast with strawberry and kiwi fruit. Chocolate drizzle. It looks like Nutella. It had powdered sugar and maple syrup. It looks delicious. Ashton had handed me a fork and a knife. I thanked him obviously. He went back as I think he is being punished. Friend? Wife? Girlfriend? Employer? Sister? I don't know. I don't want to assume. The food is invading my senses.
I started eating and it tasted so good. I felt so happy. So giddy. It's so soft. Warm. I had eaten a fruit covered in chocolate and it wasn't Nutella. So it was regular milk chocolate. But it still tasted so good. I stayed eating. Until I needed something to swallow it down. It's so good I just ignored the drink. I saw Luke place my drink in front of me. I hold it gently. It's cold. Perfect. I took a sip from it and the lump of food went down. I sighed out in delight.
"Thank you" I say to Luke gently
He smiled and speaks "So how is it so far... I know it's been barely a few hours but are you liking it so far?"
"It seems so comfortable here... I feel like if I am part of the family here..." I say with a warm smile
This welcome. The way they make food. How comfortable they are here. It actually feels as if I am part of the family. I really love it here. If it wasn't because I need a job I would have really loved to see if I can move here. It would have been really nice to move here. Scarlet is having fun talking about clothing with Sarah. Ashton placed a big plate in the center of us. It had bacon. Sweet bread. Pieces of square cheddar cheese. Sausages. Scrambled eggs. Finally mini croissant sandwiches what seems like ham and cheese with eggs. I am not much of a croissant fan. I love bagels.
But who am I to be picky. I grabbed one of the little sandwiches just to taste it. It was soft and moist. It not hard and dry like usual in some restaurants or cafe's I've been before. This tastes really good. Luke gets his fork and gets three more sausages in his plate. He hate so much. He is a big man. I feel like he will be going to exercise soon. To burn everything he ate. Ashton gets the scrambled eggs and bacon and eats it like a Luke does. Are they exercising together? Maybe so. Do they do runs? Or is it something different? I would really like to join their runs. I need to lose some weight. I looked at the food and then at my stomach. My conscious basically pipes in. 'Fat whore... You had enough do you want to look like a whale!'
I feel like I've heard that sentence before. Then the same person comes to mind. My mother. I swallowed my food and I placed it down. Slowly pushing the plate away. Scarlet. I can feel her fiery eyes at me. She now's what going on. The plate is pushed back to me as I looked at Luke. Does he want me to look like a whale? He must think I am ugly.
"Come eat up... Your going to be walking a lot... You need the energy" He tells me with a gentle smile
He fills my drink again and I say "Where am I going?"
Is he kicking us out already? "To the mall... Ashton is driving you guys to the mall... You guys need to get something to wear for the party next week"
My heart jumps a bit and in some way I wanted to keep eating but I say "As your secretary correct?"
"Let's not think of that yet... First experience the situation before deciding remember" he reminds me basically
"Oh I almost forgot..." I awkwardly laugh
"But with what money we don't have much..." Scarlet comments
Oh yeah money. "Oh don't worry about that... I invited you both... Ashton will have my card so don't worry about what to get..."
I looked at Scarlet as I knew very well it meant shopping spree. Sarah had the same expression. I swallowed a lump. But I don't feel good eating. I need to look good right? I am a guest to the party. I shouldn't embarrass him.
"So eat up... The beautiful body of yours needs to stay the same... Your body is beautiful" Luke comments near my ear
I felt my whole face heat up and I looked at him with wide eyes. He stands up. Winks at me and walks away. Ashton was eating normal. Sarah and Scarlet were talking about dress fitting to chose the right one. But I couldn't imagine anything else. His words kept echoing in my mind. He really said that. Shouldn't I feel offended. Shouldn't I have snapped at him. It's so weird. But in a way it made me smile gently and I kept eating. I just let his words echo in my head. I even ate some meat. Once I felt full I picked up my plate and my cup and headed to the kitchen. I will wash my plate. I didn't see anybody in the kitchen so I took my chance to wash it.
I turned the faucet on and started cleaning the dishes. I heard Luke talk to Ashton. I could feel eyes on me. Wait his back. I should tell him off for his comment. Even if I really loved it. But we barely met so I have to put my foot down. I don't want him thinking I am easy to conquer. I felt someone behind me and I quickly turn around. Luke was almost towering over me. His hand lays on the sinks border as he gets near my face.
"You didn't have to clean that... Your a guest here" he comments with worried eyes
"No it's ok... I don't mind..." I try to defend myself
"No... Next time allow the cleaners to clean it... Your a guest at the moment... I want you exploring and having fun... Not cleaning and working" he explains still worried
His worries made me feel bad now I say "Am sorry..."
"It's ok... You don't need to apologize you didn't know... But next time just explore and have fun... Anything you need call Ashton or me ok" he tells me as he caresses my face
"Ok..." I say on instinct
I can enjoy this attention from him. Why?
