Chapter 1 - Introduction

Pax rushed inside the school, having just been running for a time she couldn't remember; she let a out a small huff pushing the slow closing school door and glancing around quickly.

All that Pax was aware of was she was being chased and needed a place to hide. With out much more thought on it she slipped slightly in her haste to run again toward a classroom she could not quite recognize; the rain had made her shoes wet and made it hard to grip the already smooth floor.

''Come on!'' She rushed herself in a yelled whisper pushing the small cabinet nearby in front of the door with a huff to force it into place.

''Pax!'' She jumped at the sound of her name and the doors slamming open, He was getting closer and without the previous knowledge Pax knew he could smell her.

Still she backed up slowly and covered her mouth to attempt to remain hidden, still hopeful of staying hidden.

''Come out Pax.'' He spoke just outside the door before breaking through the door and the shelf, pushing them aside with such a force the wind hit Pax on the other side of the room.

Pax let out a scream of fear; the unknown man smiled before it could fully form to that of a snarl; a blur of black took him down and Pax felt herself in the arms of someone.

''Pax, baby; you were having a bad dream.'' My mother spoke softy and I looked around my room, a small breath of relief escaped my lips. None of it real.

''It felt so real.'' I spoke in small voice, the feeling sitting heavy in me. Who was that man and what was he; the black blur that seemed to have saved me?

I followed my mothers gaze to my bedroom window, moths fluttered around in the light of the moon. My accession is coming and my dream meant so much more now. I had a feeling this was going to be a long one.

''Tell me about your dream.'' My mother asked her voice much more serious now, a hint of fear lacing her tone; worried for what it could mean, for my gift and accession.

After filling her in on the details of the dream I remembered she made me a cup of tea to help me fall back asleep, my first day of senior year was tomorrow morning. The rest of the nights dreams were of the moon, full and bright. The feeling the complete opposite of the last, peace and safety filled my mind.

In the early hours of the morning I took a shower, waking up a couple hours before I needed for school. The warm water eased me awake before I choose an outfit for the day.

I grabbed my bookbag before double checking I had my notebooks and writing supplies. After putting my phone in I opened my door and headed downstairs. The smell of pancakes filled my nose as I turned down the stairs. My mom moving effortlessly around the kitchen, preparing things.

''Hey, how'd you sleep after your dream?'' My mom asked once she noticed me in her efforts.

I set my book bag at the end of the counter I took a seat at and placed my elbows on it.

''Better, where's dad?'' Normally he eats breakfast with us before heading to work.

''He was gonna come back before lunch, he has a new client. Very... particular.'' She found the right words, always trying to choose the best ones.

I nodded and took a bite of her perfect chocolate chip pancakes. These would never get old. She knew these were my favorite and she either made them for my bad dream or first day.

''Does this client not want the dream team?'' My parents owned a shared business, dad helped design the house and mom helped design the interior. They usually left together.

She laughed before finishing their lunches for later. She always found it amusing when I referred to them as the dream team, but they are. They just work perfect together; in work and at home.

''He does but he has got quite the designing process ahead before even thinking about what's going in it.'' She finished speaking and leaned a bit on the island counter in front of me.

''Big project then?'' She nodded in agreement, sneaking a bite of my pancakes before pointing to the front door behind me.

''Better get going, Dean's on his way.'' She smiled, her senses perfectly mastered.

''Okay, love you.'' I slipped on my sneakers after recollecting my bag and heading out the door down the porch stairs.

Dean's been at his grandparents for most of the summer and had got back late last night so this was the first time in weeks beside facetimes we'd seen each other. He spent even longer then usually when the school delayed the year with renovations and he didn't need to come back. We're started toward the end of September instead in August.

''You ready for the first day of our last year or what?'' I smiled at his question before closing the space on the sidewalk between us with a hug.

''How was your summer?'' He half smiled before sighing and we pulled away to start walking to his truck.

''A little bitter sweet, they gave me all this stuff from my dad for my 18th birthday.'' His father died when he was months old and hadn't visited his dads parents in a couple summers so it was bittersweet for all of them.

We caught up more in his truck on the way to school. His mother gave him it when he turned 16, he actually learned a lot about cars through it. Which he had to then teach me or I'd forever hear about any and all dangers, his way of letting me know he cares.

~Time Skip Brought To You By The Magic Of Driving~

''Okay, hold on; so your Accession started?'' I nodded as he pulled into the school parking lot, most students were arriving too and some already heading inside the school. The long summer having people hang a little longer and spend a bit more time talking; catching up.

''Do you think the dream is actually related or just weird.'' He carefully pulled into a parking spot and parked the truck before turning it off and turning in his seat to look at me.

''I'm not sure, I mean-'' I took my seatbelt off and grabbed my bag as we got out.

''-No? I hope.'' I was being chased and there was so much I didn't understand about it, the Accession and the dream. Each witches Accession is different, bringing their unique power and more access to the world around us; the natural world that is. Which is where we received our main power's.

I opened the door for Dean, knowing he'd rather walk through it but sadly into it. He kept going as though he did before we heard the bell.

''You see your class list yet?'' He began to ruffle about his backpack to search for his.

''Yes, and I got yours from your mother; we have the first same two classes. Then you are on your own.'' I handed him his and looked over mine again. I had a few classes that I had last year so I knew where those ones were but most of them were unfamiliar.

He followed me, not fully paying attention as he tried to memorize his schedule. I followed a path I didn't know but at the same time I did; until I got into the classroom and it clicked. This was the room I ran into to hide.

I had never been in this classroom before; yet I knew exactly what it looked like and the layout of every desk and bookcase. I didn't mention it to Dean as he bumped into me, bringing me out of my Deja vu and I took a seat to get ready for class. Pulling out a notebook I tried not to glance at the door way where it all mainly happened or the cabinet I had pushed in front of it.

Throughout the rest of the day I didn't have anymore Deja vu; thankfully. Dean and I after our last shared class we decided to meet at my locker after school, I had the same one and we both knew where that was so it made it easier for the both of us.

I got there before he did and put some extra empty notebooks in there, I never really kept to much in it anyway. My book bag containing my important stuff. I stopped before closing my locker to see who texted me.

Dean: Talking with a teacher, be there in a couple minutes.-

I didn't respond and clicked the screen off. I finished closing my locker door before the silence took over for a moment. All the other lockers opening and closing disappeared, no longer could I hear others talking; except one before the sound returned. Only for a short time; just a few words.

''If you see him please call me.'' Then all at once the sound returned.

I looked around, desperately trying to find what my energy; my magic focused on. When I found him, he was already looking at me. Once our eyes met I knew he was different. Something different like me but not like me. He was standing at the other end of the corridor of lockers, the principal answering him but I knew I wasn't the only one who didn't hear him as he took the card from the man I heard.

''Ready?'' Dean asked from behind me, I hadn't noticed him standing beside there. My energies focused only on him despite how many people surrounded me. I often couldn't focus on one energy with this many people; I tried to block all of it at school or It would overwhelm me.

I quickly broke the eye contact with him, whoever he was and turned back to Dean.

''Yeah, yeah.'' I locked my locker and moved to follow him, The opposite of him. His energy seemed so familiar to me but it scared me and I already had so much to question already. I wasn't sure I could handle much more.

I tried to figure out why he was looking at me, there aren't supposed to be male witches so why did we sense each other. Was there a slight smile on his lips when he saw me too?

''Did another weird thing just happen?'' Dean asked, catching up with my hurried pace but I didn't get a chance to respond.

Not sure I wanted to share it with him, the fear and lack of understanding of it all, something I usually didn't feel. The lack of answers I had only adding to my fear.

''Excuse me?'' I heard his voice again and Dean and I both halted in our steps, Dean turned before I did; does he know what I am?

''Have either of you seen him, his name is Nick?'' He asked, showing the picture to both of us when I turned.

I couldn't help but stare at him for a moment longer; he's beautiful, I thought before looking at the photo.

''No, Pax?'' I nodded too and looked back up at him. I didn't recognize him. Half expecting him to be the person I saw in my dream.

He took the photo away and I could see he was mainly looking at me and not Dean. Glancing to him on occasion or only when he spoke.

''If you do, you can call me at this number.'' He pulled out a card, one that would have his phone number on it but Dean took it before I could grab it; despite him handing it to me.

''FBI?'' Dean asked after inspecting the card and I then looked at it too before looking back to him.

He looks so young, like our age. Dean handed me the card after a moment, done being amazed by it.

''Jay Bridge?'' I tried the name out loud; knowing once said that it wasn't it, it felt close but he noticed my question and turned his head a bit.

''We'll call you if we see him.'' Dean said moving to walk away and I followed. I hope whatever he is, if he knows what I am that he keeps it to himself.

Dean hadn't noticed anything weird about our interaction and the ride home was normal. At least he didn't say anything if he had. We chatted but in the back of my mind I was thinking about him. What's his real name and why is he pretending to be someone else?

''I'll text you later; I've got to finish unpacking before I don't want to do it at all.'' I laughed but nodded and got out of the truck at the front of my house and closed his truck door.

''See you later.'' I said before starting my walk to the front door but I paused before unlocking it, feeling like I was being watched I turned around and looked around for anyone or anything.

The feeling disappeared as I searched and I brushed it off, I'm just being paranoid. I had no idea when or if what happened in my dream would happen but at least I had seen his face.

Mom was still at the office with dad, having left a bit after me. I relocked the door just to be safe and took my shoes off. The feeling of being watched returned when I walked to the living room and set my bag near the couch. I looked out the glass sliding door to the backyard and large wooded area.

I focused on it this time, finding the source of the energy but not recognizing it. I couldn't see who it was but I knew where they were. I lost my focus when I heard the door unlocking before I turned around.

''Dean?'' I locked that. I walked around the couch as he closed the door behind him.

''I copied your key.'' I turned my head at him; he spoke as if that was a perfectly sane thing to do.

Not to mention if he asked I would have just given him one, I'd talk to him about him stealing my key later. Then talk to him about how if he did that to anyone else it would be a crime.

''What's up?'' He usually does drastic things when he thought he had a good reason.

''Did you not just see that guy run into the woods naked?'' Dean looked at me now like I was the crazy person. That must have been the energy I was feeling.

I quickly looked back behind me like I would now but that's what I sensed. ''That guy?'' I asked; wondering who he was referring to.

''The guy from the picture, the one that...-''

''Jay showed us." I knew now as I pulled out my phone. His energy was similar to 'Jay's' but still different.

''We should go help him right?'' He asked rushing past me as I dialed his number, having been wanting to for some reason I couldn't pin point; even before Dean saw Nick.

''Wait-'' The phone barely rung before he answered. ''Hello?'' I said trying to catch Deans arm as he moved past me but he effectively got to the glass door.

''Pax?'' I turned my head, how'd he know it's me; just by my voice?

''Nick's in the wood's just outside my house.'' I scrambled to follow Dean when I noticed how far he got in my confusion; not bothering to put my shoes on. I just needed to catch up with him; keep him safe.

''I'll be there in a minute; wait for me.'' He said firmly; a new tone of serious and haste in his voice before he hung up.

''Dean! Wait up!'' I yelled to him, unable to wait for him. I had to follow him. I wasn't sure how he even knew where I lived let alone how he would get here in a minute but I hoped he could do both because I wasn't liking the energy I was approaching.

Whether it be Nick or an animal, it's scared and scared animals can bite. I've been working with animals energy lately but I hadn't mastered it yet; not enough to save Dean or myself if needed.

''Dean!'' I finally caught up to him when he stopped, I hadn't realized why until I stopped with him.

He put his hand out to stop me. ''Don't move.'' He whispered, both us of now trying to stay as still as possible.

A wolf stared back at us, looking to me when I stopped and came into sight. Snarling and ready to pounce at one wrong move from either of us.

I swallowed nervously before we both jumped back at him snapping at me. I had to try my magic on him, try to use it now or we might not leave these woods. Nick still needed help.

I took a slow step, the wolf let out another warning snap and I remained in front of Dean.

''If this doesn't work; you need to run.'' If it doesn't work he's just going to be even more pissed off, as if him being this close to a residential area wasn't a problem to begin with it just had to be the time that we went out to try to help someone.

I took a calming breath, the most calm I could be with a literal wolf staring me down. Standing in front Dean and I, capable of injuring us terribly if not worse. I first focused on the confusion he felt, which was unusual but before I could dig deeper he jumped at me. Not letting me even try.

I felt Dean grab my arms, pulling both us onto the ground; my eyes had closed from the fear but I opened them when I realized nothing other then us falling had happened.

I heard the noise, the fighting and the snarls before I saw it. The wolf that was going to attack us and another one; much larger and black. I couldn't help but stare for a moment before Dean grabbed my hand. Both us scrambled to get up and I pushed him to run first; unable to not turn and see them once again. The larger one didn't seem to be fighting...but holding him down.

When Dean and I broke from the tree line he kept running to my backdoor but I halted. My brain realizing what my senses had. I recognized that black wolfs energy; somehow, something about it was slightly different but it felt like 'Jay's' I turned to the woods, looking for it.

I could no longer feel the fear and confusion of the other wolf, only his and it was getting closer. I backed up; the realization kicking in.

He broke from the tree line, running but slowing when he saw me. ''Did he bite you; or scratch you?'' He asked, haste in his voice but he sounded mostly nervous.

I placed my hand up, covering the lower half of his body from view but also stopping him from coming any closer, he's naked; fully naked.

I nodded after he stopped, he hadn't touched me. Dean finally noticed I hadn't followed him inside and made his way back out.

''Woah; dude. That doesn't look so good.'' I moved my hand slightly to see what Dean was talking about. A bite was on his lower torso; from the wolf. Not even noticing that he is naked. The other wolf; it's Nick, isn't it?

''It was you.'' I whispered, absolutely astonished. He nodded, knowing exactly what I was talking about. My dream was starting to make more and more sense. ''You saved us.'' He saved me, he's the black blur.

''Wait-what?'' We both looked to Dean, who was not following everything like we were; like I am.

''It was him.'' He still looked confused and I looked back to 'Jay'.

He stepped forward. ''Does he know?'' He asked me, referring to what I am; I knew he could sense me like I could sense him. I nodded and he looked to Dean. ''I'm a werewolf.'' He stated to him. It just made it all more real for me.

''What's your real name?'' I asked as I noticed the wheels in Deans head start turning, knowing he'd have questions of his own in a minute.

He smirked before he answered me. ''Julien, Julien Briggs.'' Now that sounds right.

''Come in Julien; I'll get you something to wear.'' I tugged at Deans arm, to pull him in with me and Julien followed.

I smiled when I turned away from him, glad to know his real name; and not to mention a werewolf. Werewolf's are real. I just met a werewolf.

I quickly ran upstairs to my parents room and went into their closet to grab some of my dad's clothes. I knew he wouldn't mind, Julien did just save my life. I pulled a shirt and a pair of his pants before taking only a moment to breath before returning downstairs.

''Here, you can change in there.'' I pointed to the witch room, just next to the living room. He already knew what I was so there was no point in hiding it. A strange but freeing feeling to not have to hide from the moment of meeting someone; not just someone but someone like me.

''Thank you.'' He carefully took the clothes from me, still trying to keep a bit of distance for my sake. Respecting my boundaries; especially with him being naked.

I looked to Dean who was slumped in the couch as Julien turned away to go put the clothes on. I walked over to him and plopped down beside him; all the adrenaline wearing off.

''Witches I could follow; wrap my head around it at least but werewolf's?'' He finally looked over at me and I nodded.

It was a bit crazy but so are witches. He seemed to have more magic then me; he could fully transform into a wolf. The difference almost unnoticeable. Julien's wolf was much larger then the average wolf though and I suppose so was Nick but Julien was very noticeably not just a wolf.

''When I first showed you my magic you thought it was crazy but you were young so it was easier for you to understand.'' And there are things he still doesn't understand but he doesn't need to. That's why he's my bestfriend.

We've lived next door to each other all our lives and when I could start using my magic I was only 8; I'd known for as long as I can remember but I didn't tell Dean until I could show him. He was freaked out at first, I remember him thinking I was pretending. But after just a few minutes he was asking me to show him my little tricks.

I had brought him out into the woods, we never ventured as far as we do now but all I did was levitate a single leaf. As I got older I could do more and not just leaves. I also learned more. Every year my mother introduced me to new things; abilities and when I turned 12 she had helped me to master my intention magic. The main form both of us use.

''It's pretty freaking cool though right?'' I nudged him a smile growing on my lips and he smiled smally, starting to wrap his head around it.

Not only are werewolf's real but one of them save us; me.

''You're physic.'' Dean nudged me back and it hit me; I am.

I dreamt of Julien, the black blur. That was him but Nick wasn't who he saved me from. Now I sunk into the couch before we both turned to Julien; who came out fully dressed. I moved to stand, Dean shooting up before me.

''Do you need to clean that bite?'' I asked, not able to see it.

He nodded though and lifted his shirt just slightly and I walked over to him. ''I'm all healed.'' I looked over his skin, not even the tiniest of scar left. No one would ever know; would even guess.

''That's amazing.'' I felt myself wanting to reach forward and trace over his skin with my fingers but stopped my hand and looked back up at him. A small smirk was on his lips until he looked to Dean when he spoke.

''You healed; already?'' Julien nodded again and let his shirt back fall down to cover the exposed skin.

I looked to Dean when his phone rang and I already knew it was his mother. He probably ran straight over and now she's concerned.

''Hey, mom; what's up?'' I turned away as he did and took a few steps away for the conversation.

''Are you really an FBI agent too?'' I asked my voice lower so his mom wouldn't overhear anything. He didn't need anymore questions from her.

Unlike Dean she had no knowledge of the supernatural world, which just got bigger.

He let out a small laugh and nodded. ''No, I'm not; people just tend to answer more honestly when they believe I'm an agent of some kind.'' Julien explained, it should be enough that he just wants to help but not everyone could read a person; a werewolf.

I wondered how he had gotten such an official looking badge, if I didn't have magic I wouldn't have even known anything was up.

''How do you know Nick?'' I asked and moved toward the fireplace, still near him but making a bit more distance between us. I wasn't uncomfortable but there was something about him, I felt drawn to him in way I couldn't figure out.

We just met. I bit my lip after asking, telling myself to cool it with the questions. My mother told me one of the perks that comes with being a witch is the natural curiosity but sometimes it was more of a con. I didn't want to ask too many questions.

I noticed him change his stance, seeming less confident as I moved farther away.

''I don't...he passed through my territory a few days ago and I could smell he was a rouge; just bitten actually. He's confused.'' I fully looked at him now, admiring how he spoke.

I stopped myself from asking if he really smelled all that. What else can he smell? Can he smell emotion like I can sense it? Did he sense me or did he smell that I was different? Was it his territory or shared and how did that even work?

I was however going to ask about his territory but Dean came back, speaking. A few questions didn't seem so bad but I did not want to push it.

''I've got to go, I'll text you later.'' I nodded and crossed my arms as he turned to leave. Hoping it would be a text and not breaking in using a key he copied without asking. That would not be so easy to explain to my parents.

Dean stopped himself though just before the door and turned back. Having something more to say.

''Thanks man; really.'' He said to Julien and he nodded, giving him a small smile. We wouldn't have healed like he would have. I smiled too but looked down, glad he remembered to thank him. I had my moments where I was proud of him. His redeeming moment for the day, always good for him to have at least one.

Dean left, closing the front door behind him and Julien looked back to me. I felt the nerves get higher then before. Did I make him nervous?

''I should try to get his scent again, I don't want him hurting anyone else.'' I nodded after a moment, the thought of him leaving already making me feel...sad? A very strong part of me wanted to ask him to stay but I knew I shouldn't.

''He's scared too, terrified.'' I added just as he got to the backdoor, stepping forward and swallowing as I remembered what he was feeling.

''Well he was a human 3 days ago, I'd be terrified too.'' He turned back, understanding. I had a million more questions but Nick needed help. ''I'll let you know when I find him.''

''I can help.'' I offered and he smirked. Making me think he was going to accept it.

''No.'' Was all he said and I furrowed my eyebrows. Why would he smile like that if he was just going to say no.

''What; why?'' He didn't even know how I could help and I could.

''It's dangerous.'' As if anything isn't.

''I'm a witch, Julien; everyday is dangerous.'' My mother still feared being burned at the stake. She feared to use one of the best gifts a witch could receive because it was too good. A healer feared healing because it could mean death.

The witch trails didn't end in Salem. They never ended. My great, great mother had survived a hunting. She was the only survivor of our coven; 30 large became one over night. The hunters burned the house in the middle of the night, well everyone was sleeping. They didn't care if there were children or not, she was only 12. She was both lucky and unlucky enough to survive it, her mother was able to get her out a small window before the fire got to bad and took her.

Only 3-4 people now in the whole word know what I truly am.

He looked behind me for a moment before looking back to me. ''Your parents are home.'' I looked back, sensing it now. Had he heard the car, how good is his hearing?

''If I can't help then call me when he's safe.'' If he could decide that I cannot help then I can at least decide that. It was only fair.

He smirked again and nodded. ''Deal. I'll call you.'' His smirk grew into a smile before he turned and opened the glass door. ''I'll get these back to you.'' He referred to the clothes and I nodded, the clothes weren't too important; I doubt he would even notice.

He closed the door behind him and I left the living room preparing myself to explain everything that just happened. As soon as my mother opened the door she could sense I had something to tell her and stopped but stepped out of the way for my dad to come in. He knew her well enough to know too and they both looked to me. Expectedly waiting for me to speak and inform them.
