I gasped awake, him jumping at me again woke me up. I felt my hair before I felt Julien holding my waist. It was the dream again; the vision of Daven chasing me through the school. I was dry though, the realness of it making me believe I was actually wet from the rain I had ran through.
I let out a shaky breath before looking around the room and I sank back into him.
''Bad dream or vision?'' He asked in a whisper, holding me closer to him as he began to gently rub my hair. Trying to soothe me back to a calmer state.
''Bad vision. The one with Daven.'' I told him, feeling him tense at the sound of his name. It made me tense too.
Knowing something will happen but not knowing when or how it starts. Just the end, Julien comes in and saves me. I felt I needed to know what happens before all of it comes to an end.
''Will you describe it for me?'' He asked and I nuzzled into him with a groan. ''You don't have to.'' He told me but that wasn't why I was groaning.
''It's just annoying, I'm supposed to be physic but...I can't see more then just the end.'' I want the whole damn vision. This wasn't a gift if I couldn't learn how to use it.
''Doesn't it take time? For you to learn how to use it?'' He asked, clarifying on his exact question.
I sighed but nodded before telling him the details of the vision, everything the same exact as it was the first time I had. It was the same but It still felt like it was happening for the first time. I wasn't so sure that in just a few days I would be able to control it or even understand fully, this was complicated.
After describing the vision to him he moved to rub my back, almost a massage but it soothed me; so much so I closed my eyes again. Breathing him in with a calming breath before nuzzling into him again. Wanting to be as close as possible.
''I'm not going anywhere.'' His voice was still low, in a whisper as he assured me. His back rubbing began to get slower, as he continued.
''You're making me fall asleep.'' I told him, mumbling as I tried to remain awake. fighting his attempts.
''That's the point, you still have time.'' I looked up at him, pausing his rubbing when I did so.
''Just me?'' Would he not go back to sleep or was he even sleeping? ''Were you awake before my dream-vision?'' I was still getting used it being more then that.
He nodded, ''I woke up when your heart rate sped up.'' He told me but there was more.
I gave him a small smile, of course he could hear my heartbeat.
''I'm gonna go back to sleep; eventually.'' He smiled at the end of his statement, the more I knew he wanted to say.
I adjusted and placed my hands on his chest, fully looking up at him when I rested my chin on my hands.
Once I fully looked at him again, a much larger smile spread across his lips. Causing me to smile too but I spoke and contained it.
''Eventually after what?'' I had a feeling I knew what he would do but I had to ask.
Julien let out a small laugh, knowing I was no longer tired nor was my question a full question.
He adjusted slightly. ''After you are sound asleep and maybe I enjoy that for a bit.'' He offered what else it might be and I smirked before I looked down at his chest for a moment but turned back to lay against his chest.
His hand on my back moved with me, keeping it on my back once he knew where I was moving.
Julien resumed his rub up and down my back. His knuckles grazing over my shirt as he did so. I wasn't tired, I'd gladly lay here awake just like this for hours.
I did lay with him for quite some time, falling asleep eventually but soaking up the feeling of us being close; him holding me.
I blinked awake and reached for Julien, not feeling him and I panicked before I sat up, looking around the room but I noticed the bathroom door was closed. I felt his energy when I calmed at the sight.
I laid back down for a few moments before I remembered what was happening, Julien is going to bring me to the pack house. I sat back up, standing and stretching before I walked to my closet. Picking an outfit out as I heard the bathroom door open, I glanced over my shoulder to see Julien coming out; looking right at me.
I smiled to myself as I turned back to take my outfit out; once I had it fully I turned back around.
''Good morning.'' He said once I turned, outfit in hand. Sounding like it was a good morning for him.
''Good morning.'' I made my way over to him, near in the center of the room, having stopped when I began to walk to him; waiting for me.
I stopped right in front of him, confidently leaning up to kiss his cheek. ''I'm gonna change, I'll be out in...in a minute.'' I had paused briefly seeing his smile, from my kiss.
I blushed before looking down and moving past him when he stepped aside for me to go into the bathroom; to change.
I placed my clothes on the counter, getting dressed after talking my pajamas off. I felt proud of the outfit, feeling I looked good. Which was the effect; for Julien.
With a sigh, one more look in the mirror I left the bathroom; finished getting ready. Julien stood, having been sat at the end of the bed; made again by him.
I smirked but looked down upon seeing his reaction, his little smirk and eyebrow raise. He liked it.
Julien accepted my hand when I extended it for him. ''Are you hungry? My mom usually makes waffles on Saturdays.'' I asked and he nodded before looking me over again as he closed most of the space between us.
''She did make waffles but she left with your father after. I was going to wake you up after to tell you.'' His ears were aware of everything.
Their new client I suppose or at least one of them, keeping them both busy even on weekends now. I'd call her after breakfast to tell her I was gonna go to the pack house with Julien, she'd tell dad too.
''Then It'll be just us.'' I told him, leading the way downstairs.
I put our plates together, every once and a while noticing how he watched me; contently sat at the counter. I took out the syrup and brought over the plates to him, having put way more on his plate then mine. He could choose if he wanted it or not.
I sat next to him, placing my hands on the counter to help myself onto the stool before he placed one of his hands atop mine, getting my attention, then picking my hand up to bring it to his lips; placing a kiss there.
''Thank you very much.'' He thanked me before placing my hand back onto the counter for me, giving it a light squeeze as he released it.
I watched him now for a moment, the action unexpected but enjoyed.
Once we started eating, him waiting for me but finishing before me. He busied himself well I ate by cleaning up his dishes and then waiting for mine. I gave it to him with a smile before turning to get off the stool.
I took my phone out to call mom, tell her that we would be going to the pack house; that I was going to be going there with Julien.
She just wanted me to let her know when I've gotten there safely. Also curious where he lives.
''Are you ready?'' He asked when I came back into the kitchen, having just dried his hands and placed the towel onto the countertop.
I stopped in my tracks at the sight of him, smiling before I nodded; knowing I couldn't just stand still staring at him, as much as I had wanted to.
''How far is this pack house?'' I asked, knowing he said it's a bit of a drive but also that I should get rest for it.
He walked around the kitchen island to speak. ''A little over two hours. Do you uh, do you wanna bring anything?'' Julien told me, seeing the shock on my face at the time; he could run that incredibly fast.
''Over two hours?'' I asked, shocked but mainly just speaking it to really comprehend it. He smirked at me before he repeated his question I had ignored.
I should bring my bag, for my charger and I always liked to bring a sweater for when it began to get chilly; we'd be back late with a drive like that. I nodded going to go upstairs to get it and my grimoire, who knows when that would be useful; as a psychic it seems good to think ahead now more then ever. He told me he'd wait outside by the car; having drove here this time. I almost thought he didn't have a car.
I packed my back quickly, excited to be there and wanted to start the long drive. My phone, my charger, a sweater and my grimoire. A few extra basics as well that I normally keep in it. I hurried outside, locking the door behind me before I made my way down the stairs; looking up in time to see him stand up straighter before he opened the passenger side door.
''Thank you.'' I gave him a small smile, getting in and he made sure I was fully in to shut the door and make his way around the front to his side; the drivers side.
I was starting to feel like I was still aware of how this could still end, like he could change his mind; I wasn't sure how but I felt like the mark would stop those thoughts. That would be it, more then the feeling his words when he accepted me like I had to him. There was more then the bite and that still scared me, I wasn't ready for all of it; what came after the bite.
The car ride was long but even though it was filled with thought from the both of us it didn't seem as long as it should have been. Julien seemed nervous about something, perhaps showing me the pack house or even inviting me to everyone; Nick was here too and maybe he worried about his control. I was still in half panic he would choose to not have me as his mate. I was different and I knew that, not as strong; If I was a werewolf he wouldn't have to worry about me so much.
''It's just up this road.'' He told me once we turned onto a dirt road, one turning to a much longer one then I had thought, the pack house is in the mountains. A perfect place for a pack house.
''Does everyone in your pack live up here?'' I asked sitting up as I sensed us getting closer, noticing more energies.
''No, everyone is welcome always though; extra rooms just in case.'' I nodded and tried to look for it, excited to see it.
Julien very much noticed as Pax got excited, unable to not enjoy it; and her interest. He wanted nothing less for her to one day move here, live here. He wasn't going to put any pressure on her but Julien was ready when she was.
Julien parked the car and I opened the door before he could get out to open my mine, able to see his slight halt seeing I had done it first after I sent my mom the text of us arriving. I adjusted my bag once I had got in from in front of my seat and put my phone back into it.
I looked up at him, expectably; this is his house after all. He should lead the way here. He realized what he should be doing, clearly used to just following me.
''I uh.. I want to introduce you to Cassie, then we can do a tour if you want?'' I nodded and began to follow him.
''That sounds nice.'' I told him, encouraging him and his plan. I didn't mind what we did, I was just happy to be spending time with him. For him to want to do the same.
I followed him to the entrance, the building looking large enough for a whole pack to live in but It meant I was meeting less people all at once, not sure how every werewolf feels about witches yet.
He opened the door for me, letting me go in first and I found myself looking up. A large ceiling above the living room and entrance, a railing guarding a walkway with many doors; perhaps bedrooms. It was a very open, part of the roof was made of glass; natural light pouring in.
Julien stepped around me, moving in front of me; continuing him leading the way. I stopped my looking to following him, leading us down the hall. We passed the kitchen and the dining room to reach the end of the hall.
The med bay, I assumed given the medical equipment and various clear cabinets with medicines and jars with different types of herbs. I looked around the room once Julien entered before looking back to him.
A door opened and Julien looked away from me, having looked like he was going to say something. I assumed the women who came through the door was Cassie, said pack healer. Seeing the resemblance of both Penelope and Alex.
I smiled upon her seeing us, maybe having been lost in her work to not notice our presence at first. She appeared to have been cleaning some of her tool's; surgical equipment. She placed them down on a nearby tray, next to one of the few patient beds in the room. Each having their own table and monitor next to it, very well prepared for injury. It was impressive; like the rest of the house.
''You must be Pax; hi!'' She smiled, looking to me when she did so.
I moved forward a step to speak to her. ''Yes, hi. It's nice to meet you.'' I knew this was Cassie, she had the warmth of a mother. Not just from being Alex or Penelope's either. She considered Julien as one her own; just by the way she looked at him.
She stepped forward excitedly, having been eager to meet me before this day; probably the moment Julien had told her about me. Something he must have not been able to hide from her.
Cassie seemed unable to help herself, just deciding to do so and came forward to hug me. I of course hugged her back before she pulled back; her excitement out now.
''Please, continue your tour. I know Nick was excited to see you as well.'' She told us, going to retrieve the tools she had placed down; wanting to finish her task. ''Will you join us for lunch?'' Cassie turned back, asking both Julien and I as she looked back and forth before settling on me.
''That'd be nice, If there's extra.'' I wouldn't impose but I'd enjoy the time, getting to know more then Julien and his pack; but his family.
''Of course.'' Julien spoke up, letting me know before speaking to Cassie. ''Add something with no meat for Pax.''
''Alright, I'll see you both at lunch then.'' Julien nodded before gesturing for me to follow him again, continue our tour.
I smiled to myself as I followed him out of the room, the tour beginning now.
''So, that was the med bay;'' He explained as we walked, pointing to the kitchen and dining room as we passed them. ''The dining room, can hold up to 30 people; the kitchen. Can feed far more.'' I assumed because their appetite, he could eat and still look hungry after; like he never is truly full.
We had passed a door he didn't mention but I had noticed it.
I nodded, looking into each room again. Making sure to look back at Julien after, entering the living room once again. I hadn't noticed but under the long stretch of rooms were even more rooms.
''These are the extra rooms and with Nick here all the ones upstairs are full.'' Julien glanced back at me as we started up the staircase, I assume to go to his. Or show me where everyone else's is.
6 rooms on the second floor and 6 on the first. I was trying to remember it all for some reason; It seemed important to know where everything was here. Julien lead me all the way to the end, the last door. He opened it before I reached it and he offered for me to go in first, able to see it by walking in.
I've seen this room. ''Is this one your room?'' I asked turning back to see him standing in the doorway, where he had been in the dream before It happened.
Julien nodded, his eyebrows furrowed a bit; seeing my mood change at the realization. Would it happen now or another time? This didn't seem like the right time, we were laughing before he did it.
''Have you seen it?'' I nodded now and turned; looking around the room again. The details I had seen were kind of amazing.
I heard Julien step inside, closer to me before he asked another question. ''What did you see?'' I turned back at how worried he sounded.
''Why? Just...just us kissing.'' I looked down after deciding to tell. Wondering what he thought I could have seen; at least what had worried him.
He was relieved to hear it, but I still wanted to know and waited for his why.
''I don't want you seeing any of our first's.'' He told me without thought, knowing it. I nodded but looked down, knowing what some of our first's would be.
I hoped I wouldn't see any of our firsts too; leaving them to be first's.
Julien was going to speak but stopped and I caught him look up before he turned, Nick in the doorway. He must have heard us. I smiled at Julien before I looked back to Nick also smiling.
''Hi, Pax.'' He gave me a half smile, looking to Julien who nodded; encouraging him. ''I'm sorry for trying to attack you.'' I nodded, not needing an apology.
''Nothing happened; don't worry about it, seriously.'' Nick nodded after a moment, taking time to accept.
''Go see Alex, run a little before lunch.'' Julien told him, sensing the slight change to being nervous again. Nick didn't have a problem with it and turned to go find Alex.
I looked at Julien, watching him as he listened to make sure he got to Alex. Once he did he looked at me, giving me a smile upon noticing I was already looking at him.
''Anything else on the tour?'' I asked with a smile and made my way to close the space between, just because it wasn't the vision doesn't mean I couldn't kiss him anyways.
His smile grew, not at my question but at me moving closer.
''The tour is complete, for now; I can show you the territory borders but that would take quite a bit of time.'' Julien pulled me in closer after placing his hands on my lower back.
''Maybe another visit.'' I leaned up and looked at him before he knew what I had wanted; a kiss. He leaned the rest of the way, our lips touched gently as he led the kiss. Wanting it as well.
I smiled against his lips before kissing him once more and pulling back. Feeling his smile when I did pull back.
''Pax.'' He spoke my name and I looked up into his eyes, unable to not lick my lips which felt dry at the sight of his eyes.
His eyes brighter then they normally were; those of his wolf it looked like. I reached up to touch his face, just under his eyes and he closed them to rest into my touch; leaning a bit. When he opened them again they were back to his dark blue eyes I was used to seeing.
''Lunch is ready, if your hungry?'' He asked once I let my hand drop from his face, having been rested there for a moment longer after he his eyes had gone back to normal. Not sure what I caused, his eyes changing in the first place or helping them to go back to normal; maybe both.
I hoped to have an effect on him like he had on me. I wanted to be able to ground him like he had begun to ground me.
''We can eat.'' I told him, not wanting anyone to wait for us. If Julien waited for me to eat there might be more to it. He nodded and pulled his hands from my back to let me lead the way. I do know the way now.
As I smiled to myself I turned to do just that; lead the way. I felt his eyes on me the whole time, watching me walk all the way downstairs to the dining room. The table full with everyone I had met and one I hadn't; Lauren, his sister I assumed since he hadn't mentioned anyone else.
''Pax!'' Lauren stood up upon seeing me enter, hurrying over to me to hug me. I hugged her back, surprised at her rush but laughed. Excited to meet her too. She's Julien's sister after all.
I could feel her energy, it's similarity to Julien's; more then just both being werewolf's. They shared blood.
She pulled back, holding my arms as she looked me over. Accessing me before she looked at Julien. ''She is so much prettier then you described.'' Then back to me. ''He just got all mushy.'' She smiled before Julien spoke, not letting her say anything more.
''Let's eat, Pax; have a seat here.'' Julien pointed to a chair just beside his at the head of the table, the only two free seats once Lauren sat back down in hers.
Julien sat at the head of the table once I got around the table to sit. Everyone but Julien began to eat until I got my plate together. Once he did Julien used one hand, keeping his other hand on my leg as we ate.
Once I finished my plate everyone was going for seconds, including Julien. Which he temporarily removed his hand from my leg to do so, I sat back enjoying as I watched the interactions. The laughter and discussion. Even Nick was in on it, having a good time; clearly adjusting well here.
I just sat back, soaking up the happiness that filled the room, smiling more when I looked over at Julien. Having his food but sat back as well, enjoying watching me and them too. I put my hand on the table reaching a bit for him and he placed his hand atop mine. If this was my future I was more then happy.
''So, Pax? Julien told me you have started your Accession, what's your gift; If you don't mind me asking?'' Cassie sat up, pulling the attention of Lauren then Nick and everyone else followed. Wanting to know as well.
I nodded, my Accession has started and in two days it'll be complete.
''Yeah, I uh. I'm physic.'' I told Cassie and looked to Lauren when her excitement peaked again.
''That's so cool; okay hold on can you or could you see my future?'' She placed her fork down, leaning forward across from me.
''It's not a party trick Lauren.'' Julien spoke before I could, warning her rather then telling her. It wasn't a trick but I wouldn't mind. Maybe once I learned more, decide then.
''I really still don't even know how to fully use it.'' I told her instead when she looked back to me, not accepting Julien's words and instead accepting mine.
She sat back in her chair and I nodded before smiling. ''I'll try it but no promises on anything.'' I reached forward, releasing Julien's hand to take hers once she put hers in it.
I looked at her, trying to read the feeling further then through her hand before I closed my eyes. Despite my efforts I pulled back with a sigh, ''Sorry.'' I couldn't get anything and sat back, looking to Julien with a bit of disappointment.
I did it before without even trying, maybe there wasn't anything to be seen. Julien placed his hand back onto my leg, rubbing it once and then looked to Lauren.
''No, don't worry about it; I'm sorry for asking.'' I just nodded, not upset with her but my lack of progress. I pushed it away though; my thoughts of doubt. I'd figure it out eventually but now I was with Julien.
''Maybe you can't see anything because there isn't anything to see.'' Alex spoke, actually to me before glancing at Lauren.
I thought on that, he could be right; maybe only visions would occur when something could be seen about it. Either to change it or be prepared of something fixed into what's supposed to happen. Or maybe I couldn't do party tricks.
''What's that supposed to mean Alex?'' Lauren asked accusing him of something before she smiled. Having been joking about another meaning before he went further.
''Hey, you are pretty reckless.'' He smiled and looked to Julien who was looking down with amusement.
''The only thing true about your statement is that I'm pretty.'' No one argued her, no doubt about that. She sat back being content with no one disagreeing before picking her fork up again and finishing her lunch with everyone else.
Including Julien who finished somehow the fastest even starting later at his seconds. When he did finish, he got my attention to pull me away. Wanting to say something to me in private. I followed him as he made his way out of the dining room and into the hallway; going toward that door I had noticed him ignore on the tour.
''I want to give you something, or at least show you and you can decide if you want it or not.'' He pushed open the door after turning the door knob and I looked inside before following him in. An office; I expected more....unless this was his father's office too.
I nodded when he turned to me before he made his way over to one of the two shelfs built into the wall filled with books. The wall half covered on both side in the entrance that leads to the desk.
''I used to read this a lot as a kid, helped me understand a lot about our kind before I could really understand. What's mine is yours.'' He handed it to me after pulling it from the shelf. It read 'The moon and it's beginning's' A play of words It appeared. The beginning referring to werewolf's.
I smiled as I looked it over before taking it from him, looking it over a bit more and looking back up at him. ''Then what's mine is also yours. I'll start reading this tonight.'' I told him before I noticed he had more to say.
''As soon as I find where my father stored it I have a grimoire for you too.'' Is that how he knows so much about witches?
It was surprising to see that they weren't all that rare after all. ''How did your father know the witch who owned it?'' I asked, also wondering if he had known the witch who had owned it too.
''When my mother was alive she was the pack witch, a good friend of hers; and Cassie.'' He moved away to explain, going over to the front part of his desk to lean on once he turned back to me as he finished his sentence.
''And what happened to her?'' I took a step closer; worried what the answer would be if he has the grimoire. Julien looked down a my question and avoided my gaze when I took a step.
I closed my eyes for a moment before he told me; not needing his words to know something happened to her and it was not good.
''My father killed her. After my mother's death.'' He finally looked up at me again. The shame in his eyes clear, as if he had done it himself. ''I was young but almost every memory I remember of my mother she was with her.''
I nodded, not blaming anyone. Julien was young and had no control over his fathers action that must have been out of grief. He had lost his mate to the birth of his child, perhaps he had even asked for her help but even my mother with the ability to heal couldn't resurrect.
There was no balance to be had or gained with death, that was untouchable.
Julien sighed and broke me from my thoughts. ''I should start driving you home.'' He told me upon me looking fully back at him, rather then through him with thought taking my mind.
I checked the time on the clock that had hung above him, behind the desk he leaned on. Between the drive, the tour and lunch it's already almost 4. The day nearly flying by; not to mention the drive back, going to take another two hours.
Julien led the way to the car after I said goodbye to everyone for now. He carried my bag having grabbed it for me when I was doing so. As he seemed to like he opened the passenger door for me and handed me the bag once I got in and was sat.
I thanked him once again before he shut the door and made his way to the drivers side. I would offer to drive once I knew the way here or back.
Julien was too lost in thought about remembering both deaths and being with Pax. A man had begun following them, mainly Pax; his scent unnoticed as a human.
