Chereads / The Rakken Accession / Chapter 4 - I Knew It

Chapter 4 - I Knew It

Julien thought on my request, set in his thinking that she was part of the problem; as if her life wasn't in danger just like mine was.

''Julien?'' I asked for his answer, not needing it but It would be safer if she was still with Daven. ''I can just wonder for her myself.''

I told him and he looked up, fully looking back at me now. Getting his attention.

''I don't know what that means but you aren't going to look for her by yourself. I'll do it, just don't; don't do anything that involves him.'' I nodded at his very concerned point.

''Wondering is when I let myself; my magic look for someone.'' I need someone who could ground me though but I would have asked my mom if he would refuse to help her on the account that she was helping Daven to stay alive.

He nodded and smiled at me again, I was glad to see it after my request; worried he would be mad at me over it.

The thought of him being mad at me disappeared when I noticed how he was looking at me again. The same intensity that was there last night returned.

I swallowed as I continued to look back into his eyes before he released my hands and cupped my face with both his.

''What are you doing?'' I asked in a whisper and bit my lip as I noticed his eyes flick back and forth from my lips to my eyes.

He licked his lips and looked into my eyes when he spoke.

''I really want to kiss you.'' He leaned in a bit closer but didn't do it. He was waiting for me. For my permission.

''Then do it.'' I swallowed again before he slowly leaned in and gently pressed his lips against mine; kissing me. Kissing me once before I kissed him back, matching his slow pace that still somehow took my breath away.

He continued to cup my face with one hand but his other found it's way to my waist as I moved my hand to his face, holding one side well I could.

We keep it going for a few small more before he pulled himself completely away with a breath. I watched his back as he steadied his breathing. A bit more intense for him then it was for me by the sight of him.

I wondered how long he's been waiting to do that, or how long he's wanted to do.

I was a bit out of breath myself from the simple kisses but not like he was. He had to pull himself away for some reason.

''Julien?'' I spoke in a small whisper and walked the few steps to where he had planted himself away from me, placing my hand on his upper back, slowly to make sure he was okay with it.

''I just want you so bad.'' He spoke, not turning to me but answering me still.

''You have me.'' I told him, confused by his statement. I am his mate after all and I was right here.

He looked back at me before turning to fully face me. ''No, Pax; I want you.'' He said, letting me know what he really meant; more meaning behind those words then I had thought.

I nodded and looked down, feeling my face heat up at his actual context behind those words.

''I um...I-'' I didn't know what to say exactly.

Julien lifted my chin with his fingers so he could look into my eyes.

''That's not me pressuring you into it. This is all defined by you and what you want. It's all your choice.'' He told me, assuring me of his intentions as he explained and I nodded. Glad to hear it.

When he finished speaking he looked to the left, looking toward the front door and I looked too after he removed his hand from my chin. Not sure what he heard but looking anyway. I felt my mother before he looked back to me.

''Your mother is home.'' He told me and I nodded, sensing it myself too. ''I need to call the Elders.'' He said and I knew that was also him leaving but I didn't want him to go yet.

He was always leaving.

''Call them and come back in? My mom wants to meet you.'' I nodded. ''And I don't want you to leave.'' I added, being the main reason I wanted him to actually stay.

He smirked and I smiled, hoping that it will lead to a yes and not a no.

''Okay, I can do that.'' He spoke and my smile grew even larger before he gently pressed a kiss to my cheek and moved around me to go out the back. Making his call in the back yard.

I moved quickly and grabbed the pizza box off the coffee table to bring it into the dining room to set on that table; getting excited to both tell my mom and spend more time with him. Especially knowing what I know now.

I nearly jumped up and down when she opened the front door and raced to her, hugging her.

She laughed as she hugged me back. ''What's up?'' I pulled back to look at her and she smiled upon seeing my smile.

''Julien- I have so many things to tell you.'' I told her, getting ahead of myself but I grabbed her hand and lead her to the dining room.

''Julien is my mate.'' I spit it out, wanting to get that bit out before anything else. That was the part I was excited about.

Everything else didn't excite me so much, the part about Daven had me terrified even knowing that Julien would save me. The stuff about werewolf's and what I should learn about mates intrigued me.

Most of it didn't seem to excite her either. She was happy I was happy but she feared exactly what I feared. She probably feared it more, I am her daughter after all.

''Mates; like how I think?'' She asked as she pulled out the chair to sit, processing the information and looked down at the table after I nodded with a smile; like it was her own personal crystal ball that was retelling the events.

''Is that Julien outside?'' She pointed to where the back yard his, able to sense his energy and looked at the wall like she was able to see him straight through it.

I sat down too and nodded, answering her question.

''He's calling the Elder's to get their help with Daven.'' I told her, wondering how much longer he would be.

''Did you figure out that spell?'' She looked at me, hopeful and I nodded; sadly.

I wished I had but I didn't have enough time to figure it out, it would have been very useful and I could have even made my own version of it. Another reason to find her, she clearly knew different types of magic and spells.

''I got this for you.'' I smiled and offered it to her. I opened the pizza box and turned it for her. It was a favorite of all of us. Extra olives with spinach and feta.

''Let me go change and I'll eat some; please invite Julien if you haven't already.'' She stood and pushed the chair she sat in back under the table before retrieving her purse I didn't give her a chance to set down.

Well I waited for her to change and Julien to finish his call I got some plates from the kitchen to set up. One for dad too if he came home soon.

Mom came downstairs before Julien finished his call and we each got a slice. Although I wanted to wait for Julien I was hungry. I skipped breakfast and lunch from the sadness I put myself into.

In between eating and talking to my mom I texted Dean that he was right about Julien having a mate. I left it there until he called me after his date with Charlotte.

''Who are the Elder's?'' She asked, finishing her one slice without getting another. She never ate very much at our normal meals.

I nodded and finished chewing. ''I assume the one's who decided the rules, or at least enforce them.'' I looked past her when I heard the back door shut, looking for Julien who would surely be coming into the room soon after.

My mother turned in her chair to see, standing when he did.

''You must be the famous Julien I've heard so much about; I'm Aurora.'' She introduced herself with a handshake and I could hear the smile in her voice.

''I suppose I am, It's nice to meet you.'' He smiled, letting it grow as he glanced to me and I returned his smile with a smile of my own before looking down.

''It's my pleasure, thank you for helping my daughter so much.'' I hadn't told her everything he helped me with. Just him saving him from Nick and Daven.

He nodded before I spoke up and pointed to the seat beside me. ''You can sit here; are you hungry?'' I asked as he made his way over to me and my mom remained in the doorway.

''Always, it kind of comes with being a werewolf.'' He told me, sitting and I reached for the pizza box to push it closer to him.

''Eat as much as you'd like.'' He bought it anyways, I didn't get the chance to with everything that happened.

I glanced at my mother as he grabbed a slice and she was smiling.

''I'm gonna get some rest, you two don't stay up too late.'' She advised us and I nodded before Julien stood.

''It really was nice to meet you.'' He said again and she gave him a nod before she covered her mouth to yawn.

''Goodnight, both of you.'' She turned, very much ready for bed and exhausted from the last few days of being busy.

''Goodnight.'' We both said at the same time and I looked at him just as he looked at me. I smiled and looked down for a moment; unable to not blush when he looked at me with that intensity behind his eyes.

''Eat, your hungry.'' I told him with a giggle and gestured to his plate. He didn't need to be distracted by me.

''You are so much better to look at though.'' He told me, full smirk on his face as he sat back in the chair, leaned back to look at me like I was art at a museum and the heat I felt in my face only got more intense.

''It is pretty obvious isn't it?'' I asked though, noticing it how Dean had noticed it now. I just couldn't imagine him liking me that way. Especially in the way of me being his mate.

''What is?'' He asked before picking up his slice of pizza finally to take a bit and await my answer.

''You, liking...me?'' I wasn't sure if those were the right words to use but it was obvious.

He rose an eyebrow and set the slice back down. ''I guess it is obvious but it's a lot more then liking; Pax.'' He sat forward and grabbed another slice to place it on my empty plate.

Wanting me to eat more I suppose and I smiled at the small gesture.

''How much more then liking?'' I glanced up at him, wondering just how much more.

''A lot more.'' He let those words sit before he spoke more. ''Were mates, Pax.'' He sat back in the chair again. Having loved her the moment his eyes landed on her but Julien knew she wouldn't feel that way so soon and would wait until she was ready for those words.

Well we finished eating together we made small talk, my real big questions could wait until another time. When it was time to clean up he helped, carrying the pizza box into the kitchen for me as I searched for something to put it away in. Saving the remainder for dad whenever he got home.

''Thank you.'' I thanked him, once everything was taken care of and I turned from the fridge to look at him; leaned on the kitchen counter where I normally ate breakfast.

''I am absolutely honored to be able to help.'' He smirked and I full out laughed at his way of speaking before he fully stood and his smirk began to disappear from his face.

''You should get some rest, I was gonna stay outside if that's okay? Just to make sure Daven doesn't come back tonight.'' He explained and I understood why his smirk faded away.

I nodded and let my smile fade too, feeling exactly why his was gone. No amount of time felt like enough.

I sighed though and closed the space between us. ''Are you going to stay out there all night?'' I asked, not sure that was the best idea. Julien may be a werewolf but I knew he still needed sleep like everyone else did.

He nodded like it was that simple but reached his hand out for me.

''You can't stay out there all night; are you gonna come back every night to guard the house?'' I asked, knowing how ridiculous and unreasonable that was. I grabbed his hand after my question and he pulled me even closer.

We had no idea how long it would take for Daven to be caught and Julien couldn't loose sleep every single night until that happens. He needed to be rested and alert if he was going to run into him.

He sighed before he pulled me into a hug. ''This is my job Pax; I'm supposed to protect you. You heard Daven, he knows where you live.'' He told me, resharing what Daven had said.

I hugged him back and rested my head on his chest, having heard his points. Although they were valid they just weren't good enough for him to risk himself.

''Stay with me then. You can protect me in the house can't you?'' I looked up and he pulled back a bit to do so too, looking down at me.

''I don't know Pax, I'd be distracted.'' He explained and I let my hands loosen my hold on his upper back.

''O-okay.'' I nodded and pulled back, sad that he doesn't want to stay with me. ''I should get some rest then, I uh. I wanted to shower.'' I went to pull fully away but he stopped me.

A smirk on his face for some reason.

''Pax; wait, If I go up in your room with you. Go to sleep with you, I would want to hold you in my arms. I one wouldn't sleep anyways well I enjoyed myself but you would absolutely ruin me.'' His smirk turned to that of a smile as he explained it to me; his reason and a smile slowly grew on my face as he finished speaking.

''Ruin you?'' I asked, wanting to know just exactly what that meant and that I was understanding it right.

''I would know what It's like and I would not be able to sleep without you.'' I turned my head, starting to realize just how much more he liked me. How strong was the mate bond for him; or rather how much stronger was it for him?

He leaned slightly down to place a kiss on my forehead. ''I'll patrol tonight and we can figure something out tomorrow.'' He pulled back to look at me, seeing if that was okay with me.

I nodded although I was still a bit sad that he wouldn't come upstairs with me. I pulled away and he let me this time. Ready to go start his 'patrol'.

Julien had to stop himself from saying he loved her, it almost came out without him noticed.

''Enjoy your shower, I'll see you after school.'' I nodded though, not going to wait that long.

''You're going to be right outside; I'll see you in the morning, before school.'' I waited for him to say yes, watching as he smirked.

''In the morning.'' He went to kiss my cheek but I placed my hand on his chest to stop him. If he wasn't coming upstairs with me then I wanted a real kiss. I mean how could I not get one more from him if I could.

I smiled when he looked down at my lips, getting what I wanted and he leaned in slowly. One long slow kiss before he pulled away. This time affecting me more then It had affected him. Which granted a smirk from him before he moved around me to go to the backyard and then to the woods.

I stood there, even after I heard the back door close and touched my lips where he had kissed. How could he be so perfect already? How did I even deserve someone as perfect as him.

I eventually made my way upstairs, getting ready for my shower and then ready for bed afterwards. It was a quick shower and I had just finished getting dressed and onto my bed when my phone rang.

I pulled it from the charger to answer it, seeing it was Dean calling before I clicked to answer it and pulled the blanket over me.

''Hey, how'd it go with Charlotte?'' I asked despite knowing why he was calling. He wanted to know what I meant by my text.

Julien has a mate. It was vague but I was allowed to have fun sometimes too.

''No, you first; Julien has a mate; who is it? Was I was right?'' He rushed out his questions, just wanting the answer but more to know if he was right.

I smiled and laid back against the pillow with a content sigh.

''He told me, well he didn't tell me but I'll fill you in later on that.'' I wasn't going to tell him he was right though. He had enough ego from the last few days.

''I knew it. Pax; I knew it.'' I heard his truck door shut and figured he had just gotten home from the diner. Obviously haven't both enjoyed themselves. Maybe Charlotte was the one for him like Julien was the one for me.

Julien knew but humans had no extra senses, perhaps why I could tell something was up but not entirely. Now that I know and have felt what other werewolf's feel like it's very clear to me.

''I also met Penelope today; well kind of but she's a werewolf.'' No gender bias like there was with witches.

I wished we were able to properly meet and it be under better circumstances.

''Hmm, Hey mom.'' I heard him, greeting his mother as he got inside before I'm sure he headed upstairs.

At least I hoped he did as he continued to speak on the topic of werewolf's. We didn't need her involved in all this.

''How does she know Julien.'' I turned and smiled.

That being pretty cool. It probably wasn't the only reason she knew him but why she was there to help him and me.

''He's an Alpha.'' I bragged, happy to be able to brag about Julien. It was cool- he was cool and everything I could have ever wanted. So much more to learn about him too and I knew It would all be perfect like him.

''He's an Alpha? How old is he, I mean he's not much older then us right?'' He asked, sounded both amazed and concerned.

''No, I mean I didn't ask but he's my mate Dean; he isn't going to be much older then me.'' I told him, also assuring myself of this.

He couldn't be, unless werewolf's aged differently then humans and witches.

''I'm sure your dad loved that when you told him; What does your mom think?'' He was acting like my father right now. They actually had a lot in common for the age gap.

Both of them loved to be over protective of me, something they would all have in common with Julien now.

''I haven't told him yet, he isn't even home. But my mom met him and she likes him.'' I filled him in and started to worry about telling dad suddenly.

He had to like Julien, we are literally soulmates.

''I expect full detail's tomorrow. And you better considering filling your father in sooner rather then later.'' He offered his advice and I sighed at it.

knowing he was right though but he's just been so busy lately. I've barely seen him in the last few day's.

''Okay, I will.'' Both fill him in and fill my father in. Neither of them going to be excited about Daven.

I hoped that maybe mom would do that for me, seeing him before I would.

''Okay, I'll text you in the morning when I finish all the homework I've been putting off.'' I laughed, knowing he'll just end up passing out on his desk as he did often.

One of his greatest talents was postponing things. Although it was also his greatest weakest.

I hung up after we both said goodbye rather then goodnight after his statement.

I plugged my phone back in as I wondered if Julien could hear me from wherever he currently was on his 'patrol' but tried it anyway.

I fully laid down and flicked the light switch off with my magic. Far too tired to get back up to physically turn it off.

''Goodnight Julien.'' Just in case he could and no harm done if he couldn't hear me.

Knowing he was close by helped me to fall asleep and I drifted off soon after turning my bedroom lights off; despite how much I wanted him right next to me. Holding me like he had described and both of us enjoying it. I however didn't want to make it harder for him like he explained it would. Sure it would make it harder for me too.

My alarm woke me up for the first time in a long time, having been far more tired then I thought and I hurried my way out of my bed. I searched for Julien with my magic, sensing his energy not too long after with a sigh of relief. Not sure why I was nervous he had left but I was glad he hadn't left.

I opened my closet door and searched for an outfit to wear for the day. Meaning more then It previously had, I wanted to look nice for Julien.

He was close and I wanted to hurry so I had more time with him before I needed to head to school with Dean but as I looked at what I had to wear I started second guessing myself.

I let out a sigh; well more of huff as I just picked something out. Not exactly happy with it but it would have to do. Once I finished changing I gave myself a look over in the mirror before I rolled my eyes and got my school bag to head out.

Both my mom and dad had left early again and although I was disappointed I headed straight out back to Julien. Having to tell dad another time would have to do. I left the back door open, not having much time before I needed to meet Dean at his truck.

I debated skipping as I made my way to the tree line, wanting more time with Julien and it's not like I haven't worked hard to be able to miss the day without missing much. I knew though that Dean would be upset I didn't fill him in on everything that happened yesterday. I would also see Julien after to figure out what to do next.

I stopped just inside the tree line as I felt Julien getting even closer, coming to see me. I smiled to myself before I looked at where I heard footsteps.

''Hey.'' I said upon seeing him and he smiled as he moved around a tree and closed most the space between us. Stopping just short of fully closing said space; I was started to become less and less a fan of.

''Hey; I'm 19 by the way.'' He told me and my smile grew.

''So you could hear me.'' I had been curious; both of his age and if he had been able to hear me from such a distance.

He nodded with a small smirk, confident in his abilities. Or rather confident in how they amazed me. Which it did amaze me and I was sure It would never stop doing such.

He is far cooler then I ever could be, then my current abilities are that I still did not know how to control. I don't even have all my magic yet. Not that much of what I did have felt very useful. Intention magic wasn't always easy; the intention had to be just right to work. I needed more now that werewolf's are real; now that Daven is real.

''How'd you sleep?'' He asked with a sigh; one of content as he stepped forward to close that last bit of space between us, wrapping his hands around my back and he looked down a me.

I looked up at him and let my own sigh out, mixed with both that of content but also some sadness mixed in; I noticed how his face changed when he heard it.

''I slept okay, no strange vague visions.'' I shrugged but although I enjoyed his being close by I wanted him closer.

Julien nodded though, ''So that's your gift then?'' He asked, knowing about it. Having the prior knowledge of my kinds existence unlike me.

''I guess it is.'' I wasn't exactly happy with it as of yet. The visions were strange and I didn't understand it until it happened. I saw Daven's face and Julien I just didn't know enough to put it together.

I thought the whole point of being physic would be to able to see the future and react differently accordingly.

''I did see you coming, in a way. I saw Daven too but I didn't know who he was until he showed up at the house.'' Julien turned his head a bit when I mentioned Daven.

''You saw him coming and you didn't mention it to me?'' He asked and I turned my head at him now; not sure if that question was serious or not and he nodded after a moment. ''I didn't tell you.'' About us being mates.

''I'll tell from now on about my vision's though; if you want?'' I offered before my phone buzzed. Probably Dean telling me that he is ready.

''I'd like that.'' He smiled at the thought and I smiled at him before he pulled back and It quickly fell. His hands no longer holding me.

Why did he pull away?

''You should get to school, It might be one of the safest places right now; too public for Daven to try anything.'' I nodded though, now understanding why he had pulled away. Semi okay with the reasoning.

''Are you going to stay here?'' I asked as he moved beside me, going to walk with me. I didn't know if he had anything else he needed to do, being an Alpha and all; something I have been meaning to ask him about actually.

''I was gonna meet with the Alpha of the territory, let him know why I've been here without informing him.'' I stopped and looked at him though, there was an alpha nearby.

''Why do you have to inform him; aren't you an Alpha too?'' I asked, trying to better understand the rules.

He smirked at my question before he answered. ''That's why I have to inform him, I was also hoping to form an alliance make it easier for me to protect you.'' An alliance for me? I smiled and looked down after before I began walking again.

We emerged from the tree line together and he grabbed my hand as we continued to walk to the back door.

''Text me when you finish with that alliance.'' I mainly was telling him but I hoped he want to as well. He nodded and pulled me to a stop when we reached the back door.

''I will, I'll be back here after school. We can talk about plans wherever you want but I would be glad to stay out here for as many night's you'd allow.'' He offered with an eager smirk on his face.

''I'll see you after school to talk about plans.'' He wouldn't be doing that even though I liked him close by. I quickly leaned up to peak a small kiss on his lips. Pulling back in time to see a smile.

When we both pulled away I went inside to go around through the front to met Dean and he went to meet that alpha. Dean was waiting very impatiently by his truck for me to finally fill in him on every detail and he really wanted every detail.
