Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Jerking the baby to sit properly in his arms, he decided to make the child even more comfortable as he walked towards the hall while carrying the baby effortlessly.

The moment they entered the hall, Sophie started crying in the young man's arms, causing him to be very confused.

"Hey, baby bear, why are you crying?" Hendrix asked as he found a good spot in the hall and sat on the leather chair, feeling very comfortable.

This hadn't stopped the child from weeping, but he hoped that she tells him what is the cause of her troubles.

Lucky him, Sophie spoke in her baby weeny voice, and it is a good thing that her voice was audible, thus, she could hear very well everything the child had to say.

"I want to see Aunt Ava," came her disoriented reply, and as if that was not all, she burst out in tears once more.

Sophie used her free hands to cover her face, and as she was seated on her father's thighs, she became so numb and small all at once, and the young man kept his eyes on the lady's own, considering that the feeling would be extremely awkward.

Hendrix had heard the child's request, it didn't know what to tell her, he seemed stroked by the silent that governed her, and as he eyed the child, he wondered what he could possibly say as a reply to her.

To Hendrix, being too close to a child who is as small as Sophie was stressful, but then, there is no greater feeling that is more than the way she feels right now.

"Baby Sophie? don't feel this bad, please, your aunty will be alright, and she would see you as soon as possible. Do you want her to see you with a tear streak face?" the young man inquired as he raised his brows at her.

As expected, the child's reply was what he had planned out.

"No!" Sophie sighed out as she gently used the back of her hand to rub it to and fro her running nostrils.

Hendrix wanted to say "Yuck!" but then, that would be gross and it would be like the child wasn't already a gross part of him. He hands a tissue, thus, removing it, he gently gave it to the child with immediate effect, wanting her to quickly use it, as that was the aim, and she knows about it.

"Thank you so much," she said bluntly.

That was an easy way of saying this thing and using it, Sophie blew her life against the tissue, making sure that every part of it came off very well.

"You are highly welcome," Hendrix said.

It is a soft manner of being polite.

Hendrix noted that Sophie didn't act like these spoilt brads he always sees around, and so far, that was pleasant, and the feeling that swept through him is one that none had ever experienced before.

Silence fell between them, and they stayed like that for a whole one minute, before a doctor came in through the main door, sweeping his eyes through the room.

"Mr. White," the doctor spat out and at once, Hendrix stood with every agility he had in him.

His full length came out loud, and this time, the young man had the graciousness to put his child on the chair to continue wiping her nostrils.

It is kind of funny that he had adopted the parenting role and was trying to live by it to perfection.

Staring at the doctor walk close to him, the first question that popped out of her mouth was,

"How is, Miss Ava?" Hendrix said.

The doctor was the same man that had been in the ambulance, and he wasn't that bad, considering the fact that he was handsome, had a straight and angular face, but damn, the feeling that overwhelmed him is one that wasn't there before.

"Calm down, Mr. Andrews, she had been taken to the radioactivity room where an ultrasound would be conducted on her head. It seemed like she might have hither head little unceremoniously," the doctor said.

Hendrix's eyes widened immediately with shock, but damn, whatever that feeling might be, he didn't love the sound of what the doctor meant, and it sickened the hell out of him.

"Her head? I thought the car had hit her midsection, or something of that sought?" his question came in sounding very dry.

The doctor nodded his head in comprehension, but then, he led the words to slip out of his own mouth.

"That might have been true, but the result of her head might be radiated from the fact that she collided with the tarred road when she fell, and that would make it a rather not good encounter, you know?" the doctor said pointing out his points out clearly.

Hendrix nodded his head in acceptance, that was truly cool with the way she sounded, and that was an awesome feeling which he truly cherishes.

Although he felt bad that Ava might be going through this whole stress, he blamed it all on himself, and that is the whole truth about it. If he hadn't pushed the lady to extremities, she would never have stomped off so angrily, wanting to go.

Of course, they would have had a very simple discussion, but then, that didn't quite take place. By the way, He owes Ava all the respect he could muster, especially when she has been the guardian for his baby all these years.

That is more than enough to gain his respect, but no, rather all he did for her was to pest her entire existence until she decides to give up and literally jump when a moving car is coming.

Well, it is not like the young lady had actually planned to kill herself, just that things had rather happened unexpectedly, and here he is, with a baby he practically knows nothing about. The heat crept through the man's face as he eyed the doctor in front of him as if he was the cause of his trouble.

He had acted numbly, thus, he had to deal with it like that.
