Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

She didn't want to cry, especially not in front of her niece, that would be awkward and the fact that she was in serious pain, allowing Sophie to be too close to her might only sustain serious injuries which she doesn't want to happen.

Hendrix saw how his daughter gnawed over the lady, and the more he had his eyes on the lady's face and all he did was glare at the child as if he had never witnessed it before.

"I am fine thank you," Sophie said.

The young man discovered that the young lady had brushed her aside and considered her niece first, especially over him. He felt bad over it, but then, whatever the case might be, she just decided to make everything slip on as if nothing had happened to him.

"Ava?" Hendrix called again, it is evident that the lady was ignoring him, but as he walked towards the bed, the lady's face came out protruding, and the feeling that swept through him was what made him feel like he wasn't welcome to the least.

Ava still didn't want to answer, but then, Sophie's voice penetrated the lady's ears.

"Aunt Ava, daddy is talking to you," the child said as she held her aunty's hand with her weeny fingers.

The young lady didn't want to sound rude, especially to the child, thus, she asked dryly, "What did he say?" Ava demanded.

The truth is that she was mad at Hendrix and there is no secret about it. He is the course of her being in this condition, thus, grinning with him is like adding salt to her wounds. She has to be very discreet about these things.

Sophie glared at her aunty, and then at Hendrix, she didn't know why her Aunt Ava was acting all weird, because it was this her earlier behavior that had led her to this position. Well, whatever the case might be, she wasn't ready to let her niece see the hatred that was swelling up in her because of the man.

"Daddy just called your name. Are you both fighting?" Sophie finally asked.

The question hit Ava like a ball, but then, she didn't want to respond positively, because that wouldn't be good at all, and she knows about it.

She didn't actually hate Hendrix, and maybe she can use the word pissed off at him, but not necessarily hate him, because she didn't want to teach her niece how to actually hate someone. No one is actually worth detesting to the point of giving him that honor of acting in that light.

Ava was now in a very confused state, and as she raked her mind for a response to give her, she finally opened her mouth to say something, she couldn't just keep calm because the moment was literally very awkward.

Hendrix sensed the need to save Ava and the minute he saw her open her mouth to speak but the words didn't come out, the young man intervened, and was proud he did so.

"Come on Sophie, I and your aunt aren't fighting, by the way, adults always discuss, that is why they have a very amicable way of settling their differences," the young man said as he bit his lower lip once he concluded speaking, making sure that his words had sunk well in the child's head.

Glaring at Ava, he saw her heave a very gentle sigh, and the effect from it was crazy, because she joined her eyelashes together, battling them as if she had never experienced it before.

The look of recognition that swept through the man's face is one that he has never experienced before, and shaking his head positively, Hendrix slowly accepted the fact that the lady had said thank you while using sign language.

That was quite awkward, but he just decided to keep his calm, there isn't much of a thing to even talk about right now, and the more she had her eyes on Hendrix's own, Ava urged him to speak.

"Ava, I am sorry about what happened to you," Hendrix said sympathetically, indeed he meant what he just said, and the feeling that went along with it shouldn't even be compared to the other.

The more she had her eyes glued to the man's own, Ava couldn't help but respond to the man positively.

She definitely didn't want anything to go on again, and even if they had their differences, it wasn't going to be in front of Sophie that they were going to settle it.

Ava is mad at Hendrix because he is the cause of their misfortune, the truth is that if he had at least been nice to her, even if it was the slightest bit, then, she wouldn't have had an accident.

"I want to use the bathroom, Aunt Ava," came the child's muffled voice.

Sophie was just being a child, and to Ava, she has to act like that, and the feeling that swept through her is one that she can't necessarily do without.

"Oh! let me help you out then," Ava said

faintly.

She tried pushing herself up on a sitting position, it is kind of weird though because the pain that hit her made it difficult to even rise. Good enough for her, the man is ready to assist her in her troubles, by the way, it is his daughter they are talking about.

Hendrix baritone filled the room as his words penetrated the ladies' ears.

"Ava, you need to rest, I would help you out you know? come now Sophie, let's go look for the lady's washroom then," Hendrix said.

Ava gasped in shock as she heard how willing Hendrix's voice sounded, and the effect from it was that she didn't quite know when the man had transformed into what he Is right now.

Hendrix sounded like a true gentleman, and everything about him looked perfect, and just thinking about it made her jaws drop in shock because the rumors she heard about the man had never been good ones.
