Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Hendrix thought this is a bad game, he had never known he had a child in his life, like seriously, he was baffled by that truth, and it disturbed him a lot, knowing that.

"My daughter?" Hendrix spat out.

It is true he had had sex with a lot of ladies in his life, but he always wore protection, or the ladies were on the pills.

"Yes, or aren't you Mr. Hendrix?" Ava asked raising her brows.

She wanted to be sure that it was the man but then, his face said it all, the moment she caught a glimpse of the man, she knew it was Sophie's father.

The child is five years and will be turning six in a month. If she had not seen this man then, she doesn't know what would have become of her.

Throughout these years, Ava had been the guardian for the child, and life on the other side of the country is not that rosy, especially when she has to take care of a child.

Her sister, Miriam Andrews__ blessed memory, had fallen head over hills with Hendrix Kyle White, she spoke about it to Ava. Even when Ava cautioned her about the man, her sister had adamantly refused to hear her our saying Hendrix was the drug she needed to survive this tough life.

When the young man had come to Buea for a Regional basketball match, whatever they had in secret had led to her being pregnant, and had never had the courage to tell him. Well, she died shortly after giving birth because she had third-degree cancer that was discovered late for treatment.

On Miriam's dying bed, her dying wish was for Ava to take Sophie to her father. It is unfortunate that she had to wait all these years because of no funds. Raising enough money and making her research was vital.

Ava was in thoughts when Hendrix's baritone pierced her ears.

"Yes, I am Hendrix Kyle White, and the child looks strikingly like me, but how on earth did I father her?" Hendrix asked confusion filling his expression.

Taking a deep breath, the young lady sulked her breathe as she tried regulating her breath.

"Good, Hendrix, you fathered the child by sleeping with my sister. Now, you will mind your language, we have a child here," Ava spat out.

The young man was caught aback by the sound of the lady's words.

"You are the one with the bad word, Ava," Hendrix muttered out, and the way he called the lady's name was sweet.

Ava sighed, as she pouted.

"Who is your sister?" Hendrix questioned.

"Miriam Andrews, you met her when you came to Buea for the Regional basketball game. Whatever happened between you guys led to this beautiful girl," Ava explained.

The look on the man's face was filled with shock, the memories flowed in his mind as if or was yesterday, by that time, he was very young and wanted to enjoy life in his own way, he had never imagined that his affair with Miriam had given fruits, besides, he used protection.

It might have broken without him noticing it, 'Oh shit!' he said in his mind loudly.

"Where is she?" Hendrix questioned.

Ava grew sobered as the memories flowed in her head, at twenty-three, she had a load of taking care of her niece, and she is so glad about it, although it might be stressful sometimes.

"You mean Miriam? she is dead. She passed away the month she gave birth to your daughter," the young lady said as she eyed the man wearily.

"Oh! my condolences, I did not know all these had happened..." Hendrix started but was silenced when Ava cut in talking to him.

"Well, if you don't walk around sleeping with tones of ladies, you would have known that your baby is rotten somewhere," Ava mouthed aggressively.

Hendrix's mouth dropped open, he couldn't believe that Ava was being this rude to him. He doesn't know why he has not left this place yet because the lady was being disrespectful to the core and it pained him so hard that he couldn't even imagine what is going on again.

"Aunty Ava, who is this man and why does he look so much like me? is he the daddy you said we were going to see?" Sophie asked as she lifted her head to stare at her aunty.

Ava couldn't say anything, instead, she sniffed, while blinking severally as she stopped the tears from flowing down her cheeks.

"Yes, Sophie, that is your daddy," Ava said plainly.

Lifting her head to match Hendrix's own, Ava said to him, "My main purpose coming here is to give the baby to you, I think you deserve to spend some time with her, I will be leaving now," Ava said as she pushed the child towards Hendrix's side.

Her bluntness was becoming unbearable, in fact, thinking about these things made Hendrix grit his teeth, it was terrible and he knows about it so much.

"Hey, Ava, wait, I haven't digested the fact that I have a baby yet, what if she isn't mine? I mean, I don't know how to even take care of a child, you need to come back please," Hendrix said but then, the words he had used were tough that it made the young lady swirl around with her eyes spitting daggers.

Slapping him, Ava let the words out,

"You should be ashamed of yourself young man, I mean, after you abandoned my sister and let her suffer alone with a child, she passed away, leaving me to continue suffering to gather enough money to travel here to meet you, then you must be sorry for yourself. I regret even showing up here because I look like a fool in your eyes now. Tale a look at this child, she looks like you, but since you only know how to impregnate a lady and leave her to suffer, I do not expect anything from you. Come, Sophie, we are leaving," Ava spat out.

Hendrix was still in shock with the blunt words shot at him.
