Druak was completely surrounded, there was no space for him to escape into. The orcs were enraged by Druak, who had mocking their pride by challenging all of them at once and belittling their strength.
Seeing that the orcs were getting ready to charge Druak formed a rough blade of ice in one hand, as sweat dripped down his face.
He was exhausted by holding his ice mana shield for so long but the orcs charging towards him didn't care. Druak knew the only way forward was to fight.
Not hesitating for a second Druak charged forward. Using whatever he could that was within his disposal.
Druak knew that he couldn't take all of them at once but he had at least thought of a plan to get rid of one of the orcs. As he charged forward he began to form what seemed like a normal mana bolt, that any mage could cast, but this wasn't the end of it as he also cast a ice bolt.
Launching both bolts of magic into the air a blinding light flashed before the battlefield. Druak prepared for this had already closed his eyes, still running towards his enemy. This was similar to the spell combination that Druak had used against the elders in his village, but had a much stronger effect as it could blind all of the orcs thanks to the refraction of the ice.
*Bang*
Using this opportunity Druak noticed the slightest hesitation on one of the weakest looking orcs, not wasting this opportunity Druak dropped his body almost completely to the floor… Then in an instant his entire body flung up straight at the orcs, Druaks blade piercing right through the orcs eye.
It was clear this orc was far too inexperienced in combat, but Druak also knew that if he hadn't blinded this orc and had a straight on fight he would have almost definitely lost.
Just as Druak was about to move onto the next orc he noticed that the orc he had struck was still moving. Druak had a shocked expression on his face as the orc could still survive despite being struck straight through the eye.
Realising he only had a short window left till the orc returned to his senses Druak quickly summoned a small blade and began to charge towards the injured orc, but before he could reach the orc an incredibly sharp pain rushed to Druaks shoulder.
Staring towards the pain Druak saw the large blade which was now protruding straight through his shoulder.
The pain was enough to cause Druak to drop his ice dagger. Blood began to flow out of his shoulder. Druak knew he couldn't just stop in the middle of battle, even if he was in excruciating pain, hearing the sound of a blade rushing towards him Druak lept to the side, managing to barely avoid the blade.
*Bang*
The blade which was about to strike Druak collide with the ground causing the ground to uproot on itself.
Druak was in shock due to the power of that blow, but was soon brought back out of his shock by the burning pain from his injured shoulder. Not wasting any time Druak crudely froze his wound and before getting a chance to remove the blade in his shoulder yet another blade flew towards him, this time Druak wasn't so lucky.
The blade flew straight down and slashed down at Druaks injured arm, mangling it to be almost completely useless.
The sound of laughter once again echoed throughout the forest, as the orc which had used the black energy, laughed hysterically at the state of Druak.
"This will be boring if I send eight orcs at you in one go… Let's make this interesting. Oi you. Fight this weakling one on one, it will give you a chance to get revenge for that eye of yours."
As blood dripped down from his mangled arm Druak watched as all other orcs except the one he had injured began to disperse away, leaving Druak alone with the furious one eyed orc.
Despite the great pain Druak was feeling his curiosity was far greater.
'What is that orc over there. I don't remember orcs having that kind of magic, and why are the other orcs listening when it is clear this orc isn't in a high position.'
Druak was confused as orcs shouldn't be able to cast such magic, this was a restriction placed on every race. No matter how strong you were, all races have certain classes they can never learn, but somehow this orc did.
Due to Druaks lack of knowledge from being isolated in his past life, he had never learned about many classes but Druak at least knew that orcs shouldn't be able to learn dark based magic, so why could this orc.
The other problem was that this orc didn't have any strong monster trophies adorning its body, so why'd the other orc follow him as it was clear that he wasn't high ranked in the orc hierarchy.
The one eyed orc was furious, not only did this human take one of its eyes, it was now completely ignoring him and was busy staring at an entirely different orc.
Enraged by this hum the orc shouted."You Pathetic human!!! You took my eye and now you mess with my pride by ignoring me. I'M GONNA TEAR YOU LIMB FOR LIMB!!!!"
Druak was began to raze his head in response to the orc but quickly stopped as if an idea had popped into his head. Ignoring the orc Druak began to freeze the blade which was embedded in his shoulder. Once it was frozen he shattered it to pieces which fell to the ground. After the shattered pieces fell Druak began to pick them up.
Seeing Druak continue to ignore its challenge the one eyed orc was enraged even more and began to turn completely red as it charged straight at Druak. Its blade preparing to swing toward Druak.
Noticing the impending attack Druak quickly grabs a handful of the ice shards he picked up and flung them at the charging orc orc.
The orc was surprised and expected another one of Druaks tricks so it tried to use its blade to block the incoming shards, causing the orc to stop in place. It managed to block most of the shards, leaving only a few which cut the orcs leg area.
However Druaks goal wasn't to injure the orc but to slow it down. Due to the orc being too enraged by Druak, the orc hadn't noticed that it had wasted one of its skills, came to a halt and was hit by ice magic which was imbued into the shards.
Druak had managed to do all of this in a matter of seconds and it was now time for him to make his move. It was now time for Druak to charge forward at the orc as he did before ducking down to the ground. The orc expression began to be that of fear, but it still reacted as quickly as possible, leaning as far back as it could to avoid Druaks stab.
The orc seemed rather pleased with itself as after a few seconds no attack had occurred. Believing it had dodged the attack the orc began to prepare to strike at the human however barely a second later an incredibly sharp pain was felt on its back.
Druak had used the ice magic within the shards to slow the orc down just enough for it not to notice that when Druak dropped instead of going up he went to the side and behind.
It was Druaks only hope of winning, if he hadn't enraged the orc and slowed it down enough for it not to perceive him, there would have been no chance Druak could beat this orc even it its injured state.
Blood splashed out of the orc, which now had a massive gaping hole in its back.
Druak slowly walked away from the orc as the orc's body slowly dropped to the floor. But just as he was walking away Druak noticed that he heard no thud and he suddenly felt the air around him change, almost as if something was charging straight at him.
Quickly turning around Druak saw the bloodied orc charging straight at him with a sword in hand. The orcs' eyes had turned completely white eyes.
The orc was too fast and Druak knew he had no chance of escaping its attack. Trying as hard as possible Druak leaned to one side in hopes he could minimise the damage.
'This gonna hurt.'
As Druak closes his eyes braces for the attack and suddenly feels a fluctuation of mana in the sky.
Waiting for the strike to come Druak begins to get confused as for some reason the pain never came, but instead a voice he recognises instantly. "What are you doing laying on the ground with your eyes closed. You gonna stop being an idiot any time soon and get up to thank me."
Gradually opening his eyes Druak sees the face of his ice mage partner, which he worked with for the monster hunting test, with a giant grin on her face.
Druak slowly got to his feet and looked around him.
As he looked around he noticed the body of the orc he was fighting, which now had a giant tree root embedded in its chest. After seeing this Druak looked around even more and saw the beautiful teacher Morgana Yemei. This was the same teacher who led the test exams this year.
All the orcs were decimated by the exact same attack which had killed Druaks opponent, each with holes drilled through their chest by some kind of tree root. It was clear this teacher was on a completely different level from Druak.
Looking around Druak noticed something and muttered."Damn it. He escaped." The orc which had cast the dark energy magic was nowhere to be seen.
Approaching Druak the ice mage asked."How's your wounds. Your arm looks pretty seriously injured."
This surprised Druak as she looked as if she was generally worried about him. However Druak wasn't sure exactly what type of person she was so he decided to play it safe with what he said around her. "I'm fine. Just got a bit beaten up, thought you'd be a bit quicker though." Druak said, as he let out a slight smile.
Punching Druak on the shoulder the ice mage says."Guess you can't be that hurt if you can make jokes."
Almost instantly after getting punched Druak becomes incredibly weak and drops to the ground as all his senses begin to blur.
Druak hears the sound of muffled talking of the ice mage and a few other people before finally passing out.
