Darren opened the door, which made a cranky sound like some old piece of wood about to break down.
He carefully close the door not to destroy it more than it was, been the civil person he was. Sort of or not actually.
He walked into the dark large space with no little coming from any direction. Luckily he had brought with him his cell phone which he brought out of his pocket without thinking twice.
Turning on his phone light, he was able to get a good view of the castle which wasn't as he expected.
It was an abandoned place that haven't been visited at all, seeing how intact everything was except the broken windows filled with cobwebs, bugs, different scary, venomous, hideous insects, messing the place up.
First, he needed to find his sister, but that wouldn't be possible without the gorgeous woman he saw earlier, putting up a fight. He had the protection he needed so she wouldn't be a problem.
After surveying the large empty space, he went to the stairs, heading for the top floor. One by one, he opened each door he came across but was met with nothing but emptiness and thick darkness.
"Isabel!" he called each time he opens a door.
He kept searching the rooms which wasn't easy cause of the numerous numbers of rooms built in the old castle.
"You are trying to make this hard for me, right? Witch queen?" he said out loud and smirked, "Well, you did a good job but for how long? I will find my sister and we will get out of here together." He muttered as he opened the next door but it was the same with the other rooms.
"Isabel!" he called out with his voice echoing in the walls of the castle. He went on with his search and was getting tired but his determination gave him strength.
Seeing all the rooms were the same, he decided to go to the next floor. He climbed up the stairs which seemed to be unending and came out of a door with the chilly breeze hitting his exposed skin. He was on the rooftop.
He saw a door and his heart skipped. Maybe his sister was there. He searched all the rooms except that.
The room was dark but his flashlight brightened it a little. He searched around and just as he had predicted, Isabel was lying on the floor.
His eyes widened in terror as he looked at his lifeless sister on the cold bare floor with blood stains on her cloth. He ran to her and placed her head on his thigh.
"Isabel... Isabel open your eyes." He shook her but she wasn't responding. Darren checked her pulse and breathed a sigh of relieve. She was still alive, but was unconscious. He gently touched her cheeks, "Please open your eyes, your brother is here. Darren is here. I am here to save you. I will get you out of here and whoever did this to you will surely pay," he spoke softly, hoping she would open her eyes. "Open your eyes, let's go to mother and father. Everyone is waiting for you at home, please Isabel....." he pleaded as his chest tightened, angry for the pain she was in that moment.
"Dar... Darren." Isabel called in a low voice, so low that anyone beside her wouldn't hear her and her eyes were opened a bit.
Darren moved the hair on her face and breathed in relieve seeing her eyes opened. "Isabel, I am here. I'll take you away from this castle, don't worry," he promised in relieve, smiling at her and giving her an assured look that he meant what he said.
Isabel tried raising her hand but she was too weak to move a muscle. Darren was in danger in the castle and she has to warn him that the forest witch exist and will kill him if he stays there any longer.
She tightened her hold on his shirt as she tried to speak but couldn't say any word. Her voice was lost and her view was blurry. Silently, she prayed that she wouldn't go unconscious again as she had to find a way to speak to her brother to save him.
Darren noticed her struggling to speak to him which got him even more worried about her. He took her hand in his and looked at her.
"Don't say anything, save your strength. We will leave here now. You need to go to the hospital," his voice was in a low whisper, trying so hard to calm her down.
Isabel gathered all the strength in her and shook her head, he raised his brow, giving her a quizzical look. She slowly raised her hand and pointed behind him, looking at the same direction.
Darren felt a presence behind him. A presence with a strong intimidating aura. Of course, its the woman he saw. Just as he said, she wouldn't let them go without a fight.
He laid his sister on the floor and stood up ready to face whoever it was behind him. He turned and the moment he set his eyes on the woman, the world seemed to froze for that moment.
A woman with dark red eyes, filled with nothing but anger and hostility. Her nails long and sharp, sharper than a blade that could go as far as digging deep into a tree. Her face, wasn't like the gorgeous lady he had seen but a monster, covered with black markings like tree branches.
"Who are you?" He questioned, this time staring at her with no hint of fear in his voice. "Well I don't care. Let us go or you go down." He threatened, staring at her straight in the eyes.
She tilted her head still not taking her eyes off him or blinking for a second, "Who are you?" she asked instead. The nerve of the man to stand so daring in her presence.
Darren looked at his sister and anger crept into him again as he looked back at the woman standing in front of him who had done harm to his sister.
"I see you are the witch queen as they said, but you picked on a wrong one this time," he rolled his fist into a ball.
She raised a corner of her lips and looked at his weak sister on the floor, "Very well then, I shall be the death of you." she growled and her long nails grew even longer and sharper than it was.
Ambrosia would have made it easier to just end him and shut the young man for good, but she would love to see what he could do seeing how brave he was to threaten her.
She would make his end painful and sorrowful and that would be his punishment for daring to threaten her.
Darren brought out the two blades from his pant and swirled it around his fingers. "Let's see who dies first."
