Chapter 9 - Hard to bend

Amby smiled at Edwin whose focus were on her as if trying to read her inner mind. Unlike how jovial he use to be, his face was filled with worries and she knew it was because of her and Ambrosia. She feels sorry whenever she see Edwin get worried for her and Ambrosia, and no one else. He has being looking after them since they were little and she blames herself for his loneliness for centuries.

When he told her he was living to a different place for a while, she felt at peace that finally he was going to get someone and mingle with others apart from her and her other self. Seeing him for the first time after a century made her feel guilty again, cause he was seating in front of her with his usual worried face. Did Ambrosia did something again?

She picked up his glass and poured him a drink, "Uncle, you look worried. Is there something wrong?" she asked with a bit of guilt in her voice.

Edwin cleared his throat and looked down at his cup of red wine, still contemplating to tell her or not. She isn't as powerful as Ambrosia and would easily get scared if he tells her but he had no choice. She might be able to convince Ambrosia.

He leaned closer and took a deep breath. "The witches are searching for the pure bloods and they are getting closer to them each passing day. You know what that means for you and Ambrosia. You will be wiped out of the earth. They can be stopped if we find them but we can only do that with the help of Ambrosia as she is the only one who can sort them out before anyone else." he looked down and shook his head, "She is not giving in to the request. She isn't bothered about the witches finding the last pure bloods on earth. You know she is hard to bend." He looked up to see her reaction but surprisingly he got nothing.

Amby drank from her wine and looked at the passing vehicles through the transparent wall in the restaurant. She looked away and looked at him.

"I know all this already, I am aware of it." she sighed and pressed backward, "Ambrosia won't do it so we should just leave it the way it is. It is her decision and it is best for everyone." she answered which shocked Edwin to the bone. He never expected Amby to easily give in to Ambrosia's decision. She always think her decisions are rash and brutal and always make sure to exclude herself but, she readily accepted.

Edwin leaned closer putting his hands on the table as he looked at her seriously, "How could you agree to her decision? This will affect the both of you, this decision will. You also have a say in this not just Ambrosia." he leaned closer, "Listen..... The world will be in chaos if the witches ever defeat the vampires. Forty percent of the political system, the business world and so many others are ruled by the vampires. What if the witches kill them all? All this systems will crash. You two shouldn't allow the witches to completely destroy everything." he said in whispers to avoid been heard by the people in the restaurant.

"I know uncle.... But what if the world will become a better place? The vampires are also the cause of thirty percent of deaths everyday. Isn't that enough to wish they are no more? The political system they rule are corrupt. The business world are nothing to talk about. We are truly the problem of this world." She played with her fingers under the table, "I have lived for a long time now, I am tired of living. I have even lost count of how many years I am. One thousand, ten thousand? I don't even know. I have no one I live for or anyone who wants me due to the curse. Are we going to keep leaving with the curse forever? Because of the curse my life have been so miserable," she said looking down.

Edwin worried face was replaced with sadness and anger. The curse made Ambrosia locked in the forest and it made Amby's life miserable. She has never lived a happy life. All her lives were filled with nothing but loneliness, death of anyone who she admires, pain and suffering. She has never had a good peaceful life even for just a year.

He hated the fact that one of his sister is going through a lot and he can't do anything about it.

He looked at her face and she smiled at him, the only smile which gives him hope.

She looks at her wristwatch and gasped, "Uncle I have to leave now, I have an important job to do. Visit me before you leave again."

"Ok Ambylla, take care of yourself and watch out for the witches." he warned.

She smiled and gave him a hug wishing she could spend more time with him but she had to leave.

Edwin watched as she boarded a taxi and left. His work to finding the pure bloods first before the witches will get harder than he thought. The two girls were willing to die by the hands of same witches who killed their families and cursed them. Or could it be Ambrosia have other plans in her mind? It just have to be cause she hates the witches and wouldn't die by their hands. Whatever she was planning, he hoped and prayed it takes away their enemy forever. Even though she wouldn't include him in her plan, he will do all he can to help her. He will help his two sisters out and not back down until he has done it.

He scrunched his nose and sniffed. He caught a scent and looked outside menacingly. His face wasn't friendly as it was when he talked to Amby. He dropped the bill on the table and left the restaurant.
