ROOOAR!
Lightning flickered wildly in the cloudy skies as the sound of roaring thunder pierced through the eardrums of those outside. Many civilians ran to take shelter as they feared lightning bolts would rain down on them.
"What is this?" a patrolling guard said while gazing at the sky, it was not that long ago they were standing beneath the warm blue sky so, the sudden change left them quite bewildered. "Do you think someone used some kind of magic to manipulate the weather?" another guard in his teens asked also gazing up at the sky. Even though it wasn't well known there were some spells that had the ability to manipulate the weather.
Though most of those spells were considered lost spells in this era, most people wouldn't even consider that as a possibility. "I don't know but, I doubt someone could have enough magic power to cause this kind of spell."
ROOOOAR!
The sky continued to rage loudly as bolts of lightning fell from the sky.
Boom!!!
Large craters were left behind wherever they fell as the cries of civilians came from here and there. Most civilians had already evacuated inside their homes while some were seeking shelter inside various buildings.
On top of a balcony that easily overlooks the entire city below a man with neatly trimmed blonde hair who seems to be in his middle age wearing a rather extravagant looking suit was gazing up at the cloudy sky.
"Hmmm... these clouds aren't natural. There is something rather ominous about them." the blonde-haired man said. He had never seen nor heard of purple lightning before. But the sky was flickering violently with violet lightning that would drop thunder bolts randomly. It's almost like the "Wrath of heaven."
"I considered the possibility of someone using spells but, is there even a spell that could cause a large phenomenon like this?" a black-haired woman wearing maid clothing who was standing behind the blonde-haired man said.
"Yes, to create such a powerful phenomenon would take a large quantity of magic power. I doubt a single entity could cause something of this scale." the blonde-haired man brought his hand under his chin as he muttered. Dark clouds filled the entire sky as far as the eyes could see.

Inside an empty dark space, a beautiful majestic broad sword was hovering soundlessly in midair. The red hilt of the sword had various markings on the side, suddenly the markings glowed violet in color.
The violet color spread from the hilt and traveled towards the blade that was as black as darkness itself. Soon the entire blade had violet color tracing the sword from the hilt to the blade and then, the strange symbols on the hilt shone brightly.

In another place located in the southern parts of the world in a desolate field there was an old ruin that seemed as though no one had visited that place in centuries. The stone walls had old writing carved on the walls though.
Some were covered with dirt and sand, so it was impossible to tell what they were implying. However, strangely enough there were symbols carved on the walls that resembles the one on the broad sword. The writing glowed in a violet color before the sound of a "Click" sounded from the entrance. Though, no one was around to notice that.

Back inside the training ground Kenta had his hand held out. The magic formation appeared for a few seconds before it eventually disappeared. However, a frown was formed on Kenta's face as he stared at his outstretch hand utterly confused.
'Why didn't it work? Thunderclap was supposed to be a projectile spell, wasn't it?' His mind was completely blank as he tried to comprehend why his spell didn't work.
"Bahahaha... I knew that newbie couldn't make it."
"Of course, so what if he has the lightning element it's obvious, he has no talent for magic."
"Kids should stay out of the way of grownups."
Many voices of ridicule came from behind mostly from the ones who didn't do a good job casting their spells, though.
Even Tony was sneering at Kenta while the blue haired woman was gazing at him with eyes filled with curiosity. However, Kenta casually ignores the many voices coming from behind him as he was lost in deep thought.
Kito looked at Kenta while shaking his head in disappointment 'Such a shame, why did someone with the element of lightning have to be this useless kid' he thought. "Alright everyone I have the results, for those who hears their names please come over to my side." Kito said. While taking out a piece of paper.
"Rick!" Kito shouted. "Here." the man who goes by the name rick stepped forward and went behind Kito. "David!" Kito shouted once again while gazing at those who were lined up. "Yes!" a man with short brown hair stepped forward and went behind Kito. "Lady Lauren!" Kito called the next name and searched for the person within the group.
"Yes, I am here." the blue haired woman 'Lauren' raised her hand and gracefully walked to the side of Kito. He continued calling out the names of everyone who had passed. Shortly after he folded the paper and announced the end.
"Okay, with this you will each get your own identification card. Once you have your card you will be able to get into any academy you want or any adventure guild. It's also easier for you to apply to become a member of the royal guard." Kito said while gazing at those who had passed.
As for those who had failed, he didn't spare them a single glance. Even though Kenta's expression stayed the same emotionless he honestly felt disappointed.
'I don't get it, why didn't the spell work. The formation appeared could it be that I messed up the spell somewhere, or am I just incompetent?' Whatever the case Kenta sighed somewhat sadly.
His initial goal was to receive his own identification card and apply to go to the academy to learn more about combat but, with his examination ending in failure he had to rethink things over.
Kenta turned on his heels and decided to leave quietly when someone came up to him. It was a chubby man wearing extravagant looking clothing with a pompous air to him. "Hey, you." hearing someone calling him Kenta stopped in his tracks and turned around.
"Yes, is there something you need from me?" Kenta inquired with a tilt of his head. "Hmph, why lowly scum who can't use magic like you come all the way here? Don't you know peasants aren't allowed to be in this facility." the man said while staring condescendingly at Kenta.
Kenta didn't say anything else as he turned on his heels again. "Hey! Don't leave when I'm in the middle of talking!" Tony grabbed the hand of Kenta and forcefully pulled him back. However, Kenta used his free hand and grabbed the wrist of Tony with unnatural strength the sound of bones breaking sounded as Tony's face distorted in pain. "Wrong time to anger me." Kenta said before finally letting go of his grip on Tony.
"Tch, you bastard! I'll kill you!!" Tony's eyes became bloodshot as he stared at his twisted wrist. The sound of his yell gathers the attention of those who were present. He then held out his hand. "Air cutter!" As soon as the spell was chanted a dense blade of wind came flying in Kenta's direction. "Sigh, why can't you people know your place." Kenta muttered before casually moving out of the trajectory of the spell.
The wind blade passed his head while letting out a stinging sound. If he had been hit, there was no doubt he would've been killed.
Kenta turn his gazed toward the instructor Kito to see his reaction but, to his surprise Kito was calmly standing with his hands folded while watching the situation as though it was none of his business.
Seeing that Kenta sighed deep in his heart. 'So that's how it is, because he's from an influential family he gets to do whatever he wants.' this realization was painful commoners had no rights only those from the upper class get to do whatever they please.
Kenta clenched his fist as he narrowed his ocean blue eyes. Lauren's face became clouded with worry as she gazed at the helpless Kenta.
"Hahaha.... a commoner dared to put his hands on me! I'll make you regret that impulsive decision; you'll be begging for me to kill you!" Tony roared as he held his hands out. "Air cutter!" he once again chanted the same spell dense wind in the form of blades went towards Kenta. However, Kenta didn't move instead a smile was formed on his lips.
The wind blades made direct contact with his right arm blood flew as his shoulder was ripped apart by the wind blades. "Hah! how do you like that?! there is more pain where that comes from y-" Tony smirk disappear as he gazed at Kenta's face. "Wh-Why are you smiling?" He inquired confused.
"Why I am smiling, you asked? isn't it obvious after I just failed the examination, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed but, killing you would be good stress relief." Kenta replied as he held out his hand, at that moment a magic formation appeared as space distorted, and a beautiful broad sword appeared in his outstretch hand.
