"Come on everyone, sit, sit" said Tessa as she looked very excited, she pulled out a chair for Ireti.
"Reti you sit here" said Tessa as she grabbed Ireti's hand and she literally pulled her and pushed her to sit down.
"Wura my dear you sit here" said Tessa as soon as she sat Ireti down, she pulled out another chair, and she rushed to Wura and pulled her to sit down.
"And you Lawrence" said Tessa as she pulled out Lawrence's sit as the man of the house for him.
She tried to push Lawrence to come along with her, but it was as if he was made of stone he did not budge at all.
"Awwww come on brother" said Tessa as she pleaded with him.
"*Sigh* Alright" said Lawrence as he walked with Tessa.
"Thank you brother" said Tessa as she smiled.
"I will return with the food right this moment" said Tessa as she rushed to the kitchen.
For a woman in her state, she truly was energetic, Wura did not know how she did it, Wura was sure that her little cousin would be born very energetically and healthy.
Wura looked at Ireti and Ireti shook her head as Lawrence chuckled, their exchanging of gazes meant that they had no idea what was happening.
They did not know exactly what Tessa had prepared, she never told them, all she disclosed was that she was using Ireti's recipe, and no offence to her, but they all just hoped that it was edible for all their sakes.
It was no secret that Tessa could not cook at all even if she had to do it to save her life, they were all sure that if she happened to be kidnapped and she had to cook to free herself, her food would end up poisoning the kidnapper himself.
"La la la la" they could all hear Tessa singing a little tune as she made her way to the dining table with her dishes in her hand.
"Ladies, and brother" said Tessa as she smiled.
"I present to you in this humble evening" she said.
"My dinner today, consists of chicken soup, with fresh roasted vegetables, along with an apple tart for desert" said Tessa as she smiled and she looked proud of herself, as Beatrice carried the remaining trays.
"That sounds delicious Aunt" said Wura.
"Do not count your chickens before they hatch" said Lawrence.
"Oh have some faith in me brother" said Tessa.
"No no sit down Wura, I made dinner today, so I will serve everyone" said Tessa as she stopped Wura from standing up.
"Oh alright then Aunt" said Wura as she sat back down.
Tessa dished out the food, she placed their dishes next to them, she placed the apple tart in the middle of the table, and she sat down.
"Wura please bless this food" said Tessa.
"Okay Aunt" said Wura as she closed her eyes and the others did so too.
"Dear Lord, we thank you for this food, we bless it, and we pray that it tastes delicious" said Wura as she really wanted to give her Aunt the benefit of the doubt.
"Amen" she said.
"Amen" said everyone else.
"Okay now everyone dig in dig in" said Tessa.
Wura looked at Ireti, Ireti looked at Lawrence, and they all turned to look at Tessa who had a bright smile on her face, she really wanted them to like this, and they did not want to upset her, so well here they went.
Lawrence was the first one to go ahead and eat, he tasted the soup and Tessa looked at him with expectant eyes.
"How does it taste brother?" asked Tessa.
"It is alright" said Lawrence as he kept on drinking the soup.
With the assurance of Lawrence, both Wura and Ireti began to drink their soup, but they regretted it as soon as the taste filled their mouths.
Wura almost spit it out, while Ireti coughed.
"Sooo how does it taste?" asked Tessa as she looked at them.
"Horrible" said Wura to herself.
"Umm Tessa dear, how much salt did you add into the soup?" asked Ireti.
"Ooooh well the recipe said to add an ounce of salt" said Tessa and as soon as she said that Wura spit out the soup in her mouth.
Yes it was true, Tessa was trying to kill them, no wonder the soup tasted horrible, it was like a salt buffet.
"No dear, not an ounce but a pinch" said Ireti.
Wura looked at her father, he just kept on eating the soup as if nothing was wrong with it, remind her to call the physician to check his health, because it was not normal for him to find nothing wrong with the soup.
"Is it that bad??" asked Tessa as she took her spoon and tasted her soup.
"OH DEAR HEAVENS" said Tessa as she spit out her soup.
"I am so sorry" she said as she drank her water to get rid of the salty taste.
"Gosh, I am so sorry everyone, I made a huge mistake" said Tessa.
"It is alright Aunt" said Wura as she had already finished drinking all her water, while Lawrence did not say anything at all.
"You know what, let us skip the soup, let us move to the roasted vegetables" she said as they switched plates.
Wura bit into the vegetable, this should not have been called dinner, but rather a surprise party, for some odd reason the vegetables looked steamed and roasted on the outside, and yet when you bit into them, they were still as cold and dry as ever.
Even Lawrence himself could not savour this one, and Ireti just flinched this was a disaster.
"You know what" said Tessa as she realized what was wrong with her vegetables.
"Today is a very special evening, so we can just skip to desert" she said as she stood up and she used the knife to cut out a piece of the apple tart for everyone.
Wure just prayed that there was no way in the entire universe that her Aunt could ruin the desert itself.
Wura closed her eyes and she said a prayer, as she used her fork to cut out a piece of the tart on her plate.
"Oh dear Lord" she said to herself as she opened her mouth and to her relief the tart tasted delicious.
"Well Beatrice helped me with the tart" said Tessa as she ate.
"And I thank the heavens for that" said Wura to herself happily.
"Well do not worry Tessa, now that I have returned we will cook together" said Ireti.
"Would you do that for me Reti??" asked Tessa.
"Of course I would" said Ireti as she smiled.
"Thank you Reti" said Tessa as she smiled, and Ireti smiled too, Wura was just happy that she got something edible to eat tonight.
