Chereads / Betrothed To The Prince / Chapter 25 - Fool

Chapter 25 - Fool

"Awww Richie do not mind the mess, I was trying to pretty up the house for your return" said Tessa as she looked at the ribbons that were all scattered on the ground.

"Aunt I think you mean that you scared most of the maids in this house for his return" said Wura as she laughed, her Aunt had many sides and the maids just happened to see another one of them today.

"I was not that bad" said Tessa.

"Was I??" asked Tessa as she turned to look at Wura in doubt.

"You were Aunt" said Wura as she nodded her head in 'as a matter of factly tone'

"Awww, well I am sorry, I will make sure to apologize to them" said Tessa as she felt bad for acting so bad like that.

"Haha I am sure they understand Aunt" said Wura as she laughed.

"Anyway Richie, in celebration of your return my dear Reti the best sister in the world, has so wilfully agreed to cook and use her delicious cooking skills to fill our hungry stomachs with her tasty cooking" said Tessa as she smiled.

She knew that Lawrence of all people was the one who was most excited about Ireti cooking, she was a good cook after all, maybe even the best in the whole kingdom, and Lawrence was always very jealous of sharing his wife's amazing flavours with anyone else, her brother was just that petty.

Which was why Tessa had to use her sister in law privilege to convince Ireti to please cook for her specially today, speaking of which the terms of their agreement was that Tessa would watch their every move so that she could learn how to cook just as good as Ireti could.

"Well you must excuse me now my dear Richie, I have to check on Reti, and also help her, if she lets me" said Tessa as she let go of him and she played with his beard, she missed doing that.

"Welcome back home" she said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek as she smiled and walked to the kitchen.

"How bad was the damage?" asked Richard as he turned to look at Wura once he was sure that Tessa was out of earshot.

"Horrible, Terrible, unbelievable" replied Wura as she knew what Richard was talking about, she could go on and on about how bad Tessa's cooking was.

"The Soup was not soup at all, it was just basically a mine of salt" said Wura as she just frowned remembering the taste of the soup.

"Her roasted vegetables were hot and yet still as hard and cold as rock on the inside, I still do not know how that is possible" said Wura.

"The only dish that was edible was the apple tart, and that was because Beatrice prepared it" said Wura as she sighed.

Richard started laughing, this was one of the few times that Wura had seen him laugh, it made her laugh, he looked so lively when he laughed.

"Uncle it is not funny at all" said Wura as she tried to stop her laughing, but she could not, it just was too funny.

"That was supposed to be our dinner, and yet it became a nightmare" said Wura as she laughed, she felt a bit sorry for her little cousin, he or she would have to be aware that her mother could not cook at all.

"*Ahem*" said Richard as he stopped laughing and he cleared his throat even though nothing was there.

"Uncle I think that Aunt needs to prepare one of her famous meals for you, so that I would be like you never left at all" said Wura.

"You do need a home cooked meal after all" said Wura as she laughed.

"No, I am alright with missing that part" said Richard seriously, but deep down he was relieved that he was not there to take part of that horrendous, sorry excuse for dinner.

He loved Tessa very deeply, but the one thing he drew a line on, was her cooking, she could not cook to save her life, and he did not care at all, her personality outshined all her other flaws.

Truth be told, Richard was sure that if he lived on Tessa's cooking he would have been long, gone and dead right now.

"Oh Uncle you are a coward, you cannot even stay and accept to eat your lovely wife's food" said Wura as she laughed.

"I cannot refute that my niece" said Richard as he did not seem to care at all.

"In fact since I am such a coward, I do not mind leaving again, and this time for a month" said Richard seriously.

"Oh no no Uncle, we need you here, Aunt Tessa needs you" said Wura as she immediately rejected the Idea, she could not handle three days with Tessa and she was not even alone, and you want her to accept a whole month?? No way.

"Oh but do you not love my lovely wife, your Aunt dearly?? Then you should have no problem with staying wither her for an extra month" said Richard as he did not seem to looked fazed at all.

"No no Uncle, you cannot leave me with Aunt Tessa and go just like that for an entire month" said Wura as she pleaded.

"I see," said Richard.

"So who is the coward now?" asked Richard.

"You… You caught me Uncle, you really did" said Wura as she sighed, she played right into Richard's hands.

"Mhmmm" said Richard.

"Always choose your words wisely my niece" said Richard.

"Not everyone would be as nice as such, not to twist them into what their own fantasy imagines" said Richard.

"Even a fool, when he is quiet, is considered a wise man" said Richard.

"Yes Uncle" said Wura as she nodded.

"So Uncle what did you need to do that was so important?" asked Wura

"You will see it soon" said Richard as he walked away.
