Long-Fall city had people moving back and forth through the day and night. Though, half of the building has been destroyed by the savage monster beast. However, the arrival of Al Casendra had turned the desolate city into a reviving village. Corpses of people and beasts could not be found in the city anymore. The air was clean and fresh. And the most notable changes in Long-Fall Pass were the huge, deep tunnel in front of the city.
Anyone who saw the depth of the tunnel would be frightened. Despite this, many earth mages were using their magic to dig it further. The sudden inflow of the earth mage surprised the citizen of Long-Fall Pass. However, everyone was too busy to care about where they came from.
Now, young and old had a job to do. No one was idle. Also, the continuous check of their pass stupefied the people. According to the prince, the most important thing in the Long-Fall pass was their ticket.
It had been over a day since Al Casendra changed the power structure of Long-Fall Pass. At the center of the city, a group of people was reconstructing a magnificent building. A middle-aged woman stood at the back of the builders and shouted various commands.
"Grandma, Why are we renovating this building. Those dangerous things can come at any time." A little girl, with long ponytail hair, looked at the middle-aged woman with her big eyes. The middle-aged woman smiled and rubbed the head of the little girl.
"You don't have to worry about those things. The prince has promised to protect us and turn this city into a big city."
The little girl tilted her head and asked. "Can he really do that?"
"Don't ever question the prince's word again. You must trust in his word. Do you understand?" The middle-aged woman said without any smile on her face.
The little girl saw the seriousness on her grandmother's face and nodded. "Good! That's my girl" The woman patted her head with a soft touch. She turned and focused on the construction with a sharp glint in her eyes.
On top of the city wall, a young man and a middle-aged man stood side by side. The cold air blew on their faces, flaunting their robe. The middle-aged man turned and looked at the youngster beside him. Of course, they are Sir John and Al Casendra.
"Why are they digging such a dangerous tunnel in front of the city wall. Can you at least tell me?" Sir John grumbled.
Just then, an old man with a lot of wrinkles on his face climbed the wall and gave a deep bow to the prince. "Your highness, we have completed the first step of the design. Should we begin the second part? Or perhaps, you want to come and check it out first."
Al Casendra turned his head and looked at the old man and makes a hand gesture. Sir John saw this and looked at the old man with puzzlement. "Old man. The prince asked for your name?"
"Ah! This old man is called James, your highness." James bowed again. Perhaps the gossip of the fearsome eyes of the prince has spread among the people, scaring the hell out of the people.
Al Casendra made another communication with his hand and Sir John interpreted it. "Old James. The prince ask you to lead the way."
"Good! Good!" Old James nodded with a bright smile.
In an open field, a series of young men and old people were working without the care about what was happening around them. Sweats dripped from their body like a broken dam. While some old men were whistling some tune, nodding their heads to match the tune.
Al Casendra, Sir John, and Old James stood a couple distant from the men without making a noise. Sir John widened his eyes and stared at the strange invention. He couldn't make the head or tail of the strange-looking thing. He glanced at the prince but only to see the cold expressionless face of the prince.
Al Casendra communicated with his hand and immediately Sir John translated it. "The prince asked you to begin all the other projects or things." Sir John glanced at Al Casendra. 'Do I get the translation correct?' Squinting his eyes. However, Al Casendra didn't bat any eyes at him. 'Good. I'm getting the hang of this. But wait, when did I turn into a translator.' He jacked his head back.
Back on the city wall, Al Casendra looked at the deep tunnel and light air escaped his mouth. 'Now, the first part of the project has been completed. Let's start the second project. I hope those crazy bastards will give us some days to complete this project… Humph! No one can defeat the greatest genius scientist this time around.'
He fished out another scroll from his garment and gave it to Sir John. "Why did you need such strange flowers?" Sir John asked after reading the content of the scroll. Al Casendra didn't bother to reply and focused his gaze on the horizon. Two people climbed the city wall. Su and Roy. They both gave Al Casendra an earnest bow.
"Your highness. The tunnel construction is almost done. And also the dam has been completed according to your design." Roy announced, not daring to look at Al Casendra. Standing there, his spine was already drenched in cold sweats.
"Your highness" The eastern part can be cultivated for farming. But it isn't as fertile as the western." Su reported.
Sir John watched Al Casendra communicating with him and translated it immediately. "Well done. You can join the others. Roy, sends those mages away after having them sign a non-disclosure contract."
Su and Roy bowed and left the city wall with a deep exhale. At the foot of the city wall, they looked at each other for a moment, seeing the perspiration on each other faces. "Do you have any idea what the prince is doing?" Roy whispered.
"Why don't you ask the prince?" Su snorted. She looked at Roy in disdain.
"I don't want to venture on that dangerous mission again. If you want to dig your grave, don't drag me in." She added, leaving in a large stride. 'Idiot! The prince had already set his eyes on you. And you want to know what he's thinking.'
Roy looked at the departing Su with his jaw on the ground. After a couple of seconds, he recovered from the initial shock and snickered.
"Do you think I'm scared of that thrash? Humph! Don't worry when the other prince arrived. They will return him to his position-- trash." He flung his robe backward and left. At once, a man in black appeared from the shadow and looked at Roy's back before returning to the shadow.
