Chapter 20 - Flawless victory without magic 2

The atmosphere inside the Long-Fall Pass was thick and could be cut with a knife. People stood outside their houses, their gazes fixed on the city wall. While some had long hidden in a safe place.

On the wall, everyone held their breath, looking firmly in the forest direction. Hundreds of monsters emerged from the forest, making different types of noise with an oppressive aura. Feeling the oppressive aura coming from the beast, their breath quickened, perspiration all over their heads with trembling hands.

Al Casendra stood at the center of the city wall. His blue robe flustered and blew gently with the wind. Some strand of hair fell on his face while the dark cloud moved a bit allowing the glow of the moon to fall on his face.

The dazzling glow captivated the attention of everyone on the wall for a moment. However, when the loud howl of the monster resounded. Everyone trembled and swallowed the gulp in their throat.

Al Casendra passed a parchment to Sir John. Immediately, Sir John unfolded the parchment and read the content. He creased the brow and looked at Al Casendra. 'Fuck! Why the hell are you just giving me now.' He shouted in his mind. He looked at both sides with seriousness.

"Fire archer mage, step forward. Raise your bow and ready" Sir John shouted.

At once, a group of people with bows step forward, moving closer to the edge of the wall. They placed their arrow on the bowstring and drew the bow, holding their breath. Seeing the thousand of beasts, their leg turned jelly and their back drenched in cold sweats.

"Ready!"

The wall trembled, and the oppressive air suffocated those on the wall when the beast got closer. Roy stood beside Al Casendra with trembling hands. He held both hands together, trying to stop them from shaking.

However, it didn't work.

To hide his fear, he hid his hand inside his robe quickly. Sir John snorted. 'Such a coward.' He averted his gaze and focused on Al Casendra. But he couldn't see any fear or intimidation.

'What kind of young man are you. Are you not scared of dying?' He shook his head lightly and glared at the incoming nemesis.

"Ready! Ignite!"

At once, a fire appeared at the tip of the arrows. Sir John looked at both sides and nodded. 'These people are not useless after all.' He cleared his throat.

"Steady! Steady!"

When the beast arrived among the piles of woods. Some of them made a cry and avoided the pile of wood.

Al Casendra saw this and a light smile appeared on his face. 'Humph! Science beats all.' He released sighs of relief. The knots in his heart were finally loosened. Though, his facial expression was cold. His heart was pounding furiously, ready to jump out from his chest. But now, he was confident in his research.

Sir John looked at Al Casendra at last and muttered. "I hope this gamble pay" his palm had sweats. "Release!" His voice reverberated throughout the city wall.

Whoosh!

A red streak of fire shot through the air. Everyone on the wall held their breath, waiting. The beasts raised their big eyes and saw the incoming attack, but neglected it and rushed furiously toward the city wall.

There were only a couple of meters separating the monster beast from the prince's death tunnel. Everyone looked at the tunnel and wondered how it was going to stop a thousand monsters.

Just then, the arrow landed on the pile of wood and immediately caught fire. The fire spread quickly like a raging inferno. Before the beast could put out the fire, everywhere was in smoke. However, the great scientist won't just give the monster beast an ordinary smoke, could he?

In a split of seconds, the large expanse of the field was covered in thick smoke. Suddenly, the smoke turned purple. The nonchalant monster cried out loud. Threat. Fear. Their instinct roared. At once, some powerful monster beast began to attack the pile of wood.

How could the great scientist not have anticipated something like that? The monster launched various attacks on the fire, however, the smoke never lessened, and perhaps it became thicker. The strange liquid on the wood and the ground gave a hitching sound, producing purple smoke without fire.

Roar!

The beasts froze for a moment and then began rushing forward, attacking each other. When those on the wall felt the increase in speed of the beasts, they took a couple of steps back. Everyone turned and looked at the prince.

Your Highness, you've killed us all.

They shouted in their mind.

Suddenly, the speed of the beast, slowed down while some trembled before regaining their stand. Their eyelid trembled continuously. Yet, they continued to rush towards their prey.

Sir John moves closer to Al Casendra ready to carry him when the situation south. Suddenly, Al Casendra raised his hand. A young lady in a violet robe raised her bow upward and fired. Everyone heard a piercing whistling sound. After a few seconds, a loud rumbling of water echoed through the still atmosphere.

What!

Roar!

A rank 1 beast fell into the dead tunnel, releasing a painful cry. Everyone widened their eyes, they looked at each other and then at the prince's face. Can the strategy actually work? A slight hope germinated in their heart.

After the first cry of the beast, hundreds of beasts fell into the death tunnel with various miserable cries. Suddenly, a gush of water rushed through the death tunnel.

'Why the water?' The thought raced through their heart.

Al Casendra oblivious to their thought raised his hand one more time. The violet lady raised her bow once again and shot a whistling arrow into the sky. At once, the water stop flowing upward. It stopped at one-tenth of the death tunnel depth.

Meanwhile, the beast continued to rush into the tunnel. And their miserable cry follows after. Some tried to escape from the tunnel, only to fall back into the death tunnel. Some walked on the corpse of the other beast but couldn't cover the 50 meters distance before falling into the sharp waiting metal. They struggled for a couple of seconds before their cry was heard no more.

This can't be true!?
