Chapter 1 - One Who Paves His Own Path

He stood there with both hands in his torn pockets, looking at the glorious vesper of sundown. The shining rays of the illustrious sun disappearing leisurely and gloaming to eventide. The 19 year old let out a loud sigh from his torn mouth that had barely begun to heal as his eyes began to get close due to the bright glimmer of blinding sunrays reflecting off of the ocean.

"This is it." He said in a low tone with a worn out voice as he sat down on the dry and sandy shore. His facial expression became more vulnerable, as the Inner corners of eyebrows raised and the corners of his lips pulled down. Tears suddenly started to stream down his face as he closed his eyes and cried for several minutes.

"Damn it! Why me.. I haven't done anything...nothing at all... I THEM... I HATE EVERYONE OF THEM!! DAMN IT, DAMN IT, DAMN ITTTT!!!" He finally screamed hysterically as he punched the hard sand, causing his hands to rash and bleed. This was the first time in his life that Yin had taken out his frustration.

Ever since his birth, Yin was not free. He was born with a learning disability, and so he was always bullied in school. For most who get bullied however, home would be their only safe place. This was not the case for Yin.

Although he would get bullied in school, he would still smile his way through all of it, because it was better than being at home. Yin's parents both died the same day he was born in a car accident, and Yin was the sole survivor.

He was taken in by his uncle and aunt because they were his closest relatives, but from the very young age of one years old, Yin was mentally and physically abused to the point of starvation, dehydration, mental exhaustion and even close to death many times.

Yin was caged like an animal inside of a human sized metal cage at home his entire life. There were many time he thought of just ending it all, but one thought kept him alive.

The thought of freedom.

The thought of being able to escape, and live freely in a vast world that he had heard of in school and had read of in various novels. The thought of the legendary adventure he would go on once he escaped kept him alive.

And so, at age 15, Yin successfully escaped his home. This was the moment he had been waiting for his whole life, and his expectations were only sky high, but soon after leaving, he realized that it was not only his previous oppressor's who were cruel. The whole world was cruel.

Yin was fine with being homeless, it was the price he had to pay for freedom, but even after becoming homeless, Yin didn't have freedom. Soon realizing that the ones that had true freedom were only those at the top of the world.

Yin thought that he could leave the path set for him from birth, but he still needed to beg for food. He still couldn't travel on his own path without getting blisters on his feet. And he would still get beaten up occasionally by thugs who wanted to steal the money he had saved up by begging. The vision of freedom had slowly started to fade as Yin felt like an ant in a vast desert looking for a drop of water, it seemed far too overwhelming.

The loud revving of a certain car engine could suddenly be heard as Yin's expression immediately changed to being emotionless. His eyes became almost hollow he wiped the tears off of his face.

'I cannot show weakness any longer.' Yin thought to himself as he stood up and turned around, looking towards the car behind him. A man opened the door to the car and got out, closing the door behind him as he walked over towards Yin.

"I've finally found you, you street rat! You won't escape from me this time, and once your at home, I'll make you beg that you had never run away in the first place." A man who looked to be around 40 wearing a black suit said as he continued to make his way over to Yin.

'It seems that they are both here.' Yin thought to himself, seeing his aunt in the front seat of the same car. 'If that's the case, my accuracy needs to be much better.'

"What the hell are you thinking of over there!? Come, get in the car so we can go back to our home." The man said with a malicious smile on his face as he reached in his pockets.

'Ah, I see... it seems he has the same ideas as me.' Yin thought to himself before suddenly putting his hand inside of his pocket and pulling out a gun.

'That bastard! Where the hell did he get a gun!?' The man thought to himself distressed as he pulled out a gun of his own, aiming it towards Yin.

"Hahaha, I've won!" Yin laughed as three loud gunshots could be heard.

The front window of the car had shattered and there was a bullet hole on his aunts head. The 40-year-old man also had a bullet would on his chest that had gone through his heart. A thump could be heard as he fell to the sandy floor.

'Ah, it seems I was shot as well." Yin thought to himself, looking down at his abdomen. 'I will die of excessive bleeding in the next hour. I won't let you have the final laugh.' Yin though to himself as he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

Before Yin knew it, all he could see and feel was darkness and nothing else, as if he had passed out right before the bullets had made contact with his skin. "So, I have finally died and left that hell hole. I What will I do now? Go to hell? Is that what the afterlife has in store for me?" Yin spoke to himself as he stared into the endless void with lifeless eyes.

A loud sigh could be heard. "It seems that, a life of freedom is not meant for me. I simply am not fit for it, its not in my path..." Yin laughed to himself in the infinite silence.

"Shut up, you sound pathetic." Yin suddenly heard an unfamiliar male voice. "Do you hear what your saying? All this time, you were enduring the torture for our freedom, why are you giving up now!?" The voice sounded again.

"What? Who are you?" Yin said, looking for a person in the endless black void. "What do you want me to do!? I'm already dead! I cannot achieve freedom!" He yelled.

"Don't you dare! Just because your dead, you cannot reach freedom!? What the fuck did you go through all of that torture for!? If that is true, why didn't you just kill yourself back then! Don't you dare use such a pathetic excuse such as death as a reason to not pave your own path and pursue freedom!" The voice roared thunderously as Yin's body hairs stood up.

There was a short moment of silence...

"This... your right. So what if I am dead, I'm still going to walk on the path of freedom!!" Yin yelled. "I don't care what it is I have to face! Let it all come! In the end, not even death can stop me from achieving freedom!"

On saying this, Yin suddenly heard another unfamiliar voice, this time it sounded completely androgynous and almost non-human, like a robot of some sort.

"What?" Yin said to himself as the endless void started to form multiple large spiderweb-like cracks that let large waves of white light seep through them. Eventually, the vanta-black walls fell apart, revealing blinding white light coming from all directions.

Yin quickly covered his eyes with his forearm to not be blinded by the light. "What in the world is going on!? Transmigration!? Am I transmigrating to another world!? I've read of this in many novels before I died! And that voice, the voice of a system!?" His mind was racing at a million miles per second, and his sorrow was starting to become replaced with a bud of hope that was soon going to engross the entire world.

"A new life!? That means that I can still pursue freedom!" His eyes lit up brightly. "A new life... if what that voice said was indeed true, I will use this second chance to achieve freedom! I will do it all in my own way, and pave my own path instead of those that are already forced upon me! Yes! This will be my perfect life!" He yelled as smiled whole-heartedly.
