When Dir. Melvis and Head Akito left the hall, the 2nd rank head couldn't help but ask the director.
"Director, why did you agree to Hans's request?" Head Akito stopped from his track.
Dir. Melvis did the same but without looking back to meet his gaze, "Hmm… I guess, it's time to see some changes." He replied.
"And wouldn't it be an exciting journey for everyone?" he added.
He turned to look and smiled at him with pure excitement then Dir. Melvis continued to walk his path to his office. Head Akito didn't quite understand what changes or journey the director meant, but he didn't bother to ask anything again.
He stared at the large clear glass window and thought that he also wanted to see these changes and unlock the things he finds hard to understand someday then he followed the director on its way.
Hans was already in his office—typing in his report. However, he couldn't completely focus on his work. What happened back then made him think, 'Is he dead? No, it couldn't be… he's a vampire. But what if…?'
His jumbled thoughts annoyed him for reminiscing the incident again and again. The image of Head Benjamin beating up the hooded vampire kept appearing in his mind. His recklessness and hot-tempered personality made Hans grimed in amusement at the problem he caused. Surely, his master would be pleased and laughed with glee of how he loves to solve the problem he longed for.
Hans' expressionless face slowly glooms while his typing skills go faster than it already was. He didn't realize the time due to his irritation. A moment later, someone knocked on the door and Head Benjamin appeared behind it.
Hans thought, 'Behold The troublemaker and the pain-in-the-ass Head Benjamin.'
"Are you done with your report? Damn it." He raised a black folder containing his report papers.
Hans stared at him with a deadpan expression from the cuss he heard then went back to continue typing his report.
"I'm almost done but you can go ahead, Head Benjamin." Hans lied about the fact that he was almost done when it was a complete mess to begin with.
"I'll wait." The Head offered.
Head Benjamin tossed himself on the couch. He laid down then covered his face with a magazine from the table and supported his head using his arms. Hans watched him suspiciously because normally, Head Benjamin would not bother associating himself to Hans. He even said that he would rather die than be in the same room alone and breathe the same air with him.
"Are you bothered by the incident?" Hans was almost done with his report by the time he asked.
Head Benjamin didn't move a muscle and said, "No."
With the way he answered him without raising his voice, Hans stopped from typing and jolted.
"Are you sick?" Hans looked at him dumbfounded and asked but Head Benjamin gave him the same answer.
"What did you eat a while ago?" Hans asked.
"A full meal with mac and cheese." Head Benjamin replied.
"Did you drink milk after that?" This time Head Benjamin got annoyed and took the magazine paper away from his face and yelled.
"What?! Of course, not!"
Hans felt relief but wasn't convinced enough, "Ah, that's better. I thought I was talking to a ghost or something. Or are you perhaps scared of the Master?"
Head Benjamin went silent for a moment then he hastily laid down again and placed the magazine into his face and said.
"Urghh… Not really.''
Hans said into his head, 'I thought so.'
He went to print out his report then placed the paper in a black folder and fastened it. Hans stared at Head Benjamin and silently sighed thinking that Head Kelly was right about him wanting Head Benjamin to be the last person he works with.
Now thinking about it again made Hans emotively sigh wishing that he won't wake up… ever. However, he knew that they needed to solve this arising problem or they would definitely be at a disadvantage. And Hans cannot risk it for he must fulfil his goal and purpose.
Hans went to the couch and stared at him, "We need to go, Head Benjamin. Master is waiting for us."
Head Benjamin sat up and took away the magazine. He yawned in sleepiness from waiting for Hans to finish.
"Oi. Pipsqueak, you sure are slow that I fell asleep." He said as he looked at him eye to eye.
He then stood up and placed his hand with a black folder over his shoulder. They went to Dir. Melvis's office, as soon as they arrived, Hans knocked at the door and waited for his master to let them in.
"Come in." They both went inside and handed over their reports.
Dir. Melvis read Hans's report first then followed by Head Benjamin's for a few minutes and when he was done, he closed the black folder and placed it at the side of his table.
"I see, a vampire tries to hurt your pair." He said.
He gave a long sigh and added, "I'm sorry for what happened to your pair. I failed as your clan leader."
"No! No, you're not Director. It was my fault to begin with." Head Benjamin got flustered and blamed himself for what happened.
Hans glanced at him then thought to himself, 'It's a good thing you were aware of that.'
Then stared at his master with a poker face who still looms about what happened. He didn't know what to do with his master being theatrical, so he decided to let him be. Then Dir. Melvis glanced at them with a smirk, yet, with seriousness in his face.
"However, it seems to me you're no different from him." He added.
Head Benjamin felt unsettled and cold sweat while Hans didn't show any disturbed emotion, but obviously, he is as nervous as Head Benjamin was. The fact that they went beyond Dir. Melvis's orders showed how irresponsible agent's they were. However, opposite to how Dir. Melvis should feel, he felt actually pleased with them for giving him problems.
'Thanks to them, I get to enjoy the pleasure of solving problems again. But I am well aware of this problem, I couldn't just recklessly act like it's my pleasure when my clan's lives are at stake.' Dir. Melvis thought while looking at both his subordinates.
'So far this is the biggest problem I had encountered as being their leader. Though I'm still thankful to them because it's been a while since I used this useful brain of mine. Especially Hans—who hates causing problems—got involved in such a situation.' A smug looking face appeared in Dir. Melvis's face.
'Ever since he became an official member of this clan, everything went by so smoothly. We can only encounter less and less problems. Every problem is his subordinate's cause—he immediately thinks of a solution. And as a result, victory is ours. But…' he groaned silently as he battled with his conscience.
Head Benjamin stood there so nervously, thinking that the director was mad at them. Hans just stared at his master thinking that he must be backstabbing him in his mind. Knowing his master, he becomes overly dramatic when Hans steals the spotlight from him. But he has no choice or his master will get annoying and theatrical.
'Urghhh…but… he always takes my spotlight and my chance to enjoy the beauty and angelic problem offered to me by goddess Selena. I sometimes just want to send him far away and let myself indulge the trouble that I might encounter while he's gone.' Dir. Melvis debated in his mind, looking troubled and emotive.
Dir. Melvis sighed and brushed away his thoughts, "Well then, what should we do?" he asked himself while thinking of some possible solution.
"I'm not sure if this will work but. How about we propose a contract to them? I don't know for sure if that vampire is dead or not." Hans said.
"He's dead." Dir. Melvis confirmed.
Hans immediately looked at his master, "But—"
"He is most likely dead since Head Benjamin went berserk. It must be your first time witnessing one." He explained.
Dir. Melvis confirmed as he leaned his back on the headrest of his chair. Hans shivered when the scene of Head Benjamin went berserk played in his mind. Yet, he remained calm.
"The contract might not be enough for them, it's a gamble. But I think we can try." Dir. Melvis asserted.
"So, what is this contract all about?" He continued.
"Help them find their bond (Female Blood) and if they happen to find the hunter's pairs… we'll go through exchange." Hans suggested.
His proposal made the two hunters crunched their eyebrows and stared at him in dismay.
