Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11: My Empress

A week ago—before meeting with the hunter—Emperor Charles went inside his closet and chose some clothes to wear; he then put on his navy-blue suit for tonight's trip.

"Where are you going, Your Majesty?"

A woman asked him who was hiding behind the door. He looked back at the woman shaded with blonde hair.

The emperor smiled at the sight of the woman, being adorable and sweet. "I have a meeting to attend to" He informed her as he approached his beloved Empress and kissed her on the forehead.

"When will you come back?"

She asked as the emperor leaned forward to hug her then rested his chin on top of her head.

"Maybe a week? Don't worry, it will only be a week or two."

He reassured her then sneakily grinned at her.

The woman smiled back then went to escort her emperor and the grand duke to the main door as she bid them farewell. The emperor and the grand duke along with the five bodyguards travelled their way to the hunter's territory.

Empress Jasmine May Benevolent-Adonis: Puppeteer

Once was a Female Blood and is now a full-fledged vampire. Wearing a long maroon dress with a fisheye keyhole neck and different embroidered design. A see-through shoulder clothes her elegance and with ornaments on her hair, befitting in making her a perfect (31-year-old) empress.

Her blonde hair radiates her pale skin and honey brown eyes which everybody loves. Her ability as a puppeteer holds her target captive and at the same time, she controls them with a certain range. She makes the scariest puppeteer for it can also be used for torture.

Ever since the empress came into the clan at the age of 16, the whole clan were at peace. Everybody loves the empress and holds her dearly, especially when she started to rule at her 18 years of age.

The emperor had never once made a mistake of leading the clan because of her. Also, they all learned how to live like humans do and it greatly affected their livelihood in a good way. Sorrows and pains were eased by the empress herself.

Although, the other clans still believe that they are vicious, dangerous, and horrible creatures. However, in the empress' eyes, they are the kindest creatures she had ever encountered which taught the vampires to love and accept themselves.

Never in her life had she regretted being a part of the clan, except for one. But even so, she tried to compose herself and lived life to the fullest for the sake of her deceased loved ones. She knows that if she keeps blaming herself, they will definitely get mad at her.

To atone for her sins, she lived and continued living as her only choice. Her husband and brother-in-law were there with her to atone as well. They all felt pain, regret, and agony for losing most of Empress Jasmine's family members after she left them at 16; especially Grand Duke Arthur.

The emperor and the empress loved each other like any other couples do. The day Empress Jasmine was born, the previous emperor and empress along with the first born of the Adonis brothers—Emperor Charles—went to visit her.

During that time, it was just a mere visit for it was the very first time for a former Female Blood to give birth to another Female Blood. Which is the empress' mother, who was already a full-fledged vampire at that time.

The unknown phenomena made the vampires decide to keep the matters hidden. Because once a Female Blood gave birth to an offspring, they would only give birth to a clan child. No Female Blood had ever given birth to another.

That was another setback for the three clans. That is why, they continued to look for their bond. And when the royal family found out about such an unexpected event, they made the decision to hide the true identity of the empress to protect her.

Also, her characteristics as a Female Blood didn't show up at 16 like how usually Female Bloods do. It manifested ever since she was a kid that became a mystery to the royal family. Which is also why they protected her after her sweet 16th.

Meeting the empress was considered the fate of the emperor. On the day she was born, he immediately knew that she would be his bond. And since that day, he became more motivated to work hard for the throne as the next emperor.

He would often visit his little empress and would carry her carefully like a fragile glass. He never once neglected a day to visit her, even after the grand duke was born three years later.

The emperor would often bring his new born baby brother to meet his little empress. When they visited her, the baby grand duke was in the Emperor's arms while he introduced him to Empress Jasmine. The little empress was in awe as she slowly poked Grand Duke Arthur's little face. The baby grand duke grabbed her little finger as he motionlessly slept in his brother's arms.

Years later, when she turned 16, she was trained for the throne to become the next empress. For years, she kept working hard even after knowing the death of her important family members. Regardless of that, she never neglected checking up on her mom thinking that she's the only one her mom has after her father's death.

The empress greeted her emperor who just arrived from the trip to the hunter's territory and the emperor did the same. Their servants separated their ways after Empress Jasmine permitted them to get back to their work. She looked at her husband as she noticed that the emperor had a blood stain on his face.

She asked with worry in her tone, "What happened to your face?"

Emperor Charles was slightly restless upon hearing the question Empress Jasmine gave to him. He thought that the wound had already healed so that his wife couldn't notice. He started to feel sweat in his palm from the nervousness he had been feeling.

"Is there something on my face?" he asked as he tried to compose himself.

His wife touched his face to where the stain was. Empress Jasmine showed him a blood stain that came from his face.

"This… Why is there a blood stain on your face?" she asked again.

"W-well, some cat just jumped on me and scratched my face." The emperor replied with a humour which the empress didn't take in a good way.

Empress Jasmine gave him a disappointing look with how her husband jokes around and not getting himself straight to the point. Emperor Charles tried to laugh as he glanced at his brother trying to ask for help, however, Grand Duke Arthur avoided his gaze. His brother immediately excused himself, leaving the couples alone to avoid getting caught up with the husband and wife's little business.

The empress took a guess of the situation, "Did you get yourself into a fight again?"

The emperor immediately apologized, "I'm sorry, My Empress. However, I assure you that it wasn't that big of a matter and we're vampires after all."

The empress knew that her emperor is a strong man, but that doesn't mean her worries will fade. She knows that her people are called immortal because they live longer than the other two clans. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that they don't die.

Empress Jasmine sighed in disappointment, "Yes, I know that. I know that better than anyone else, Your Highness. But we are not completely immortal. We just live longer and heal faster than humans do. Regardless, that doesn't mean we do not perish in this world."

"What if they come back again? What if they will hurt your subjects or worse, hurt you? You know that the clan needs you. Without you, My Emperor, how will we be as one? Look, the enemies even had the guts to ambush you which means they must have a way to kill you and soon, our clan too." She added.

Long ago, the vampires were the guardians of the night. They can't go out when the sun starts to rise because they get burned from it. Although, it was supposed to be like that before, but eventually, everything changed. Ever since they had the desire to feel the heat of the sun touch their skin and walk freely without being afraid of getting burned.

Their ancestors started searching for a way to be able to live and walk under the sun. Years of failure, until they successfully made one. At first, they could only last for at least three hours under the sun which made them inject themselves before the end of that hour.

However, some vampires weren't satisfied with it. So, they kept making the antidote until they lasted longer and longer under the sun. Fortunately, some time, it mixed in their blood and carried out by their genes.

After adapting from it, the descendants no longer need to inject themselves because of the genes they carry from their ancestors. They slowly multiplied then inherited the antidote inside their body as they slowly evolved through time.

The empress who couldn't afford to lose her husband or any member of the clan, not any more than this. Losing her family members was already too much for her to handle. And so, Empress Jasmine looked with each other full of worries as her past traumas began to overflow her mind again.
