Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 The Blue Alpha

She put down the dagger and moved the soil around the plant with her hands. After most of its roots became visible, she pulled it out of the soil and immediately stored it in the inventory. After harvesting one, she moved on to the next one.

'Host, look at the map.'

Just when she harvested half of the patch of this Vitality Grass, she heard her system's warning.

At his reminder, she looked at the Map panel and a smile appeared on her lips after seeing two red dots moving towards her position.

"Since there are only two, it means they are Red Eyed Horned Rabbits and not the Savage Wolves." She muttered to herself.

She didn't take out the crossbow because she thought she could deal with them with her dagger. Using a crossbow will only waste time because these rabbits were smaller and agile monsters. They could avoid the bolts at an extremely fast speed.

She was able to hunt them before because of sneak attacks. But now that she was going to face them head on, using the crossbow would be stupid.

She waited for a minute, and they finally showed up. They were similar to ordinary rabbits on Blue Star but double in size. They had white fur, big red eyes and a sharp black horn on their heads, that's where their name came from.

They looked cute and harmless from their appearance, but she had seen a group of three such rabbits killing a wolf multiple of their size, by screwing it with their horns.

She held the dagger in her right hand and walked towards them slowly. When she came closer to them, they noticed her presence and hopped towards her at an extremely fast speed.

She raised her right hand and held the dagger in front of her chest. When the two rabbits hopped up again and tried to pierce her with their horns, she side stepped to dodge one and stabbed the other in the belly. It fell down and blood flowed out from its belly, dyeing the ground red where it fell. It flailed its legs for a moment and died soon after.

When the other rabbit saw her dodging, it charged at her more fiercely. Its speed increased with the next attack, but it was of no use. Yuxi quickly dealt with it by slashing its throat.

She took out the mana cores from their bodies with bloody hands and collected the corpses in her space pocket. After washing her hands in the stream, she went back to her work of harvesting the Vitality Grass.

After harvesting this patch of Vitality Grass, she stood up and moved along with the stream to look for more, but she didn't find any.

She left the stream and moved deeper into the forest with caution. She took out her crossbow from the inventory and held it in her hands, ready to kill any monster she saw.

She encountered many Red Eyed Horned Rabbits and Savage Wolves. Avoiding those in larger groups, she killed the rest.

She hid behind a thick tree trunk and looked at another pack of Savage Wolves. They were at least two dozen in numbers, she couldn't take them head on.

"I can't avoid then all the time, I need a strategy to deal with them." She muttered, lost in thought. Then her eyes shone, an idea dawned on her.

She held her bow and inserted many bolts in the tree trunk, just like she did with the tree near the water stream. She climbed the tree once to make sure that all the bolts were sturdy and repeated the same process on another tree not far away.

After making arrangements, she approached the wolf pack stealthily with the crossbow in hand. When she reached considerably closer to them, she hid behind a tree and aimed at the wolf near her.

The wolves were roaming around, looking for a prey. But suddenly three of them fell down at the periphery, one after another. By the time they realized what happened, Yuxi had already put away the crossbow and ran away with all her might.

They saw the perpetrator and didn't waste any time in chasing after her. But too bad for them, she had already reached the tree and climbed up at a lightning speed by using the bolts.

When the wolf pack gathered under the tree, she was sitting on a considerably high branch with the crossbow in hand.

The wolves tried to climb the tree by using the bolts like her but failed miserably. Unlike her, who could grab a hold of the bolts, their claws would slip when coming in contact with the metallic bolts. After falling down a few times and unable to climb, they gave up.

During their failed struggles to climb the tree, she harvested the lives of one wolf after another. When half of them fell, the rest distanced themselves from the tree to avoid being killed by her.

They didn't leave and barred their fangs at her from a distance. She laughed out loud. "You can also be cowereds, huh." She taunted them.

The monsters didn't understand what she was saying, but they growled at her in response, making her smile again.

She put away the crossbow and pretended to climbed down the tree. When she was halfway down, the wolves approached her again, intending to tear her apart once she comes down.

She climbed back up again and killed a few more wolves before they could back away. She pretended to climbed down again, but this time her trick didn't work.

The wolves had gotten smarter after being deceived by her once. She sighed in disappointment and came down the tree for real this time, seemingly giving up her advantage.

She jumped on the ground lightly and took out her crossbow. The wolves surrounded her, she didn't waste any time and took down a few more wolves on one side, making a path out for herself.

Dodging the wolves pouncing and slashing at her, she ran away again and climbed another tree not far away. This time she sat on a lower branch of the tree where the wolves could reach her by jumping up.

Seeing that they could reach her, the wolves didn't back away this time and tried to drag her down from the tree branch. But none of the wolves who jumped up were able to leave alive, she killed every single one of them.

After killing the entire pack, she snorted. "Do these monsters think that my IQ is as lower as them? Stupid Wolves."

She came down and took out the mana cores from the corpses near the two trees where the area was dyed with the blood of the wolves before collecting their corpses in her space pocket.

Afterward, whenever she encountered large wolf packs, she would repeat the same tactics to deal with them until night fell.

Due to her actions, this part of the forest became clean of the monsters. She stopped to take a break and camped in a small clearing.

She lit a fire and took out some food from the inventory to fill her stomach. After eating, she stood up and walked towards the trees at the end of the clearing. She selected two trees and inserted bolts in their trunks to prepare an escape route for herself, in case she is surrounded by a large wolf pack.

Returning near the fire, she put a blanket on the ground and lay down to rest.

She looked at the sky dotted with stars and sighed in amazement. "Dungeons are magical existence." She muttered and then remembered something.

'System, you talked about static time in the inventory before. I can't control the time in my space pocket yet. Won't the carcasses will be rotten if kept for a longer time?'

'Yes, that is correct. So, bye something from the SHOP to freeze the carcasses for the time being, until you learned to control time in you small domain.' He advised her.

'Okay.'

She opened the system Shop and looked through the items. Soon she found a high level freezing talisman and baught a few and immediately used some in her space pocket to freeze all the carcasses and felt relief.

'System, keep an eye out and give me a warning if any monster comes near me.' After doing business she closed her eyes to sleep.

'Okay.'

A couple of more days passed and Yuxi harvested a few more patches of Vitality Grass while killing all the mob monsters in the forest except for the Boss.

The Boss monster was the Alpha of all the wolves in this dungeon, a D rank monster. It was the same size as the other wolves in the forest, but its fur and eyes were blue. Its blue eyes would shine in the dark, like two glowing gems.

She had observed it and after appraisal by the system, she knew that it also had magical abilities.
