She had observed it and after appraisal by the system, she knew that it also had magical abilities. It could use wind on its legs to boost its speed and sent air slashes at its prey with its claws.
She had to be wary of it and avoided confronting it head on. After racking her brain, she came up with an idea to kill it.
Currently, she was holding a shovel which she bought with 5 SP, and was digging a deep hole in the ground near the cave, where the Alpha Wolf lived.
She spent hours digging a 4 meters deep and 3 meters wide hole. While she dug deeper, she inserted bolts in one of the walls, which she used to climb back up.
Standing at the edge of the hole, she took out buckets of glue worth 10 SP each and poured it into the hole. After confirming that the entire hole was filled with 2 inches deep glue, she nodded in satisfaction and slowly walked towards the cave to lure out her last prey, the Boss of this E rank dungeon, the Alpha Wolf.
Reaching the cave entrance, she peeked inside and found the wolf with blue fur laying on the ground with eyes close, sleeping.
She took out the crossbow and aimed at its hind leg. This was a D rank monster and couldn't be killed with a single strike to the head with a normal crossbow. The bolt will only injure it slightly, and then she would have to face the fury of this injured wolf.
By aiming at its hind leg, she could at least slow it down a little while it chased after her.
This Alpha Wolf was twice as fast as other Savage wolves, and its speed could be increased further by adding the wind boost.
She wasn't sure whether she could reach the trap she dug for it before being killed and eaten by it. She wasn't going to take any chances with her life.
After taking an aim at its hind leg, she pulled the trigger. She didn't stay behind to watch the result of her attack but turned around and ran as fast as she could.
She heard a suppressed growl from behind her along with the sound of running of the beast. She put all her strength in her legs and tried to increase her speed.
A sound of whooshing came from behind, and she could guess what it was. A moment after the sound came, a severe pain hit came from her back, but she didn't stop.
Taking the momentum of the wind slash in her speed, that hit her in the back, she increased her speed. Soon the trap she dug came into view.
She dived and while sliding she grabbed the bolt sticking out of the ground at the edge of the hole. Her entire body fell into the hole with her running momentum, but she grabbed the bolt tightly and prevented herself from falling into the glue filled hole.
She dived and while sliding she grabbed the bolt sticking out of the ground at the edge of the hole. Her entire body fell into the hole with her running momentum, but she grabbed the bolt tightly and prevented herself from falling into the glue filled hole.
After adjusting her body for a moment, she grabbed another bolt on the wall of the hole with her other hand and climbed down.
Just when she released the first bolt from her grip, that place was bitten by the blue wolf. The wolf pulled out the bolt with its jaws, along with the dirt. When it realized that it failed to tear off her hand, it shook its head and threw the bolt to the side and tried to bite her again while she's descending.
After reaching the bottom, she looked up to find the blue wolf standing at the opposite edge of the hole, growling and intending to jump down at her.
"Oops"
She positioned herself for the incoming attack. With her back against the wall, she held the two bolts with her hands above her head and put all the weight of her body on her arms, freeing up her legs.
When the blue wolf jumped down at her, she raised both of her legs and kicked it right under its jaws. It was not enough to sent it flying, but it prevented it from injuring her again.
With the kick, the blue wolf lost its jumping momentum and fell into the hole without touching her.
She knew what would happen next. She climbed back up again, took out her crossbow, and showered the blue wolf with bolts.
The blue wolf was stuck in the glue, unable to move. It became an easy prey for her. After seven or eight bolts, it was finally killed.
Ding…
Killed a D Rank Boss Monster "Alpha Savage Wolf".
+20 XP
She took a deep breath and put away the crossbow before gulping down a healing potion. Taking out the shovel again, she put a lot of soil on one side of the hole. It was the same soil she shoveled out of the hole before.
After making sure that a small platform was made for her to step on, she climbed down the hole again. Standing in the hole, she dug a wall and used the soil to pour onto the glue around the corpse of the blue wolf. Subsequently, she dug into the ground under the corpse and pulled the corpse along with the patch of the ground sticking to the wolf's corpse.
She store the corpse in her space pocket and put the shovel away as well. Then she climbed back up and pulled out the bolts on the wall in her reach, and ignored the ones she couldn't reach. The loss of a few bolts didn't matter much.
After putting everything away, she took a beeline to the exit of the dungeon. It took her a few minutes to reach the portal. 'How much.' She asked her companion in between pants.
'Five minutes.'
'Enough.' She smiled heartily and took off her outer garments and changed into new ones before jumping into the black portal, hovering a few inches above the ground.
These clothes were brought from her original world. Her hair was tangled, and she hadn't taken a bath for a week. After changing those rags, at least she didn't look like a beggar anymore and was barely presentable.
Coming out on the other side of the portal, she looked back and saw the shrinking portal. It finally turned into a small dot and disappeared like it was never there before.
There was a mechanism in dungeons; after the Boss of the dungeon is killed, the dungeon will close after half an hour.
She wasted a lot of time to get the corpse of the boss, that's why she had to run to the exit before it closed down, trapping her inside forever.
Ding…
Side task has been completed.
Rewards: 5k SP, 1AP, D rank dagger.
She looked at the system notification and took out the D rank dagger. Its blade was made of steel with sharp edges and a black handle made of unknown material.
After checking out her new dagger, she put it away and looked at her dark surroundings.
It was nighttime and this undiscovered portal was located in a back alley at the outer edge of the city. This was the poorest area of the city, but it couldn't be called a slum, the law, and order also reached here, albeit a little weak.
Even if people were poor in this era, they had enough to eat and wear. Ordinary people could also hunt E rank monsters with bows if they hunted in groups. E rank monster's mana core meat and hide couldn't be sold for a lot of money, but it was enough to fill their stomachs and make into clothes.
She walked out of the back alley and looked at both sides of the road through the illuminated lights. She spotted a coffee shop nearby and walked towards it.
She entered the coffee shop and went to the counter with steady steps. She placed an E rank mana core onto the counter and looked at the man behind the counter.
"Can I borrow a phone for a few minutes, I lost mine?" She stated her demand.
The man scrutinized her for a moment before nodding and picked up the mana core. He placed his cellphone on the counter and gestured her to pick it up.
"New here?"
"How can you tell?" She picked up the phone and asked, while pinching in a number from her memory.
The man smiled and tapped the counter with his fingers. "Never seen you around here before."
She nodded and finally dialed the number. The bell rang for a few seconds before being picked up. She didn't give the other side a chance to speak, "Note down the address and come pick me up before anyone else gets me."
