Chapter 32 - Chapter 32

In Rodger's office he placed the coffee down and pulled a file out from under a fake potted plant. He waved the paper and grinned.

"Hear you go." He handed the folder to Mathew. "It seems that no one knows who exactly this Black Claw pack is, but they've been around for a few years. It's not the first time that name has come my way." He finished the sandwich in his hand.

"How long?" Jenny asked. Rodger shrugged and sat on his desk.

"About four and a half years… give or take a couple of months." He watched as Mathew skimmed through the file his mood getting dark. "Everything I've heard about them is bad. They're meant to have a little territory somewhere out in the canyons where the Blue Moon Pack was but everyone that has entered there hasn't come out again." I heard Mathew growl as he looked at a page in the file.

"Fuck…" He muttered. "This is bad." Rodger nodded and saw the look of confusion on my face.

"The Blue Moon pack was wiped out overnight about ten years ago by an unknown pack. The attack was so brutal that not even the children escaped the slaughter. Since then. the canyons of the Blue Moon have become a no go zone as anyone that has entered don't normally come out alive… the two I know of… are shaken beyond words." He shrugged. "Well… a few humans like park rangers and rescue teams have gone in and come out fine but they've never found a survivor or traces of what happened to the missing." I shuddered.

"So, this unknown pack could be the Black Claw?" He nodded.

"I hope not, I've heard stories of a concerning nature from the two survivors about the Blue Moon Canyons. They're now pack bound and are stuck somewhere between wolf and human." I stared in disbelieve.

"What?" He put the sandwich bags down and sighed.

"Someone's up to nasty things in there… So best to avoid it. However… My contacts seem to think the Black Claw are the ones in the Canyons. If that is the case they've been here for ten years and want to expand their pack. The only place they can expand to is…" He waved a hand and Mathew cursed again.

"Straight into our pack's territory or the Lightfoot's." He looked to the others then grabbed his phone. "I need to make a call." He turned away and stepped out into the hallway.

Jenny shook her head and ran her hands over her face. Her skin became a little whiter and her eyes glowed with concern as her wolf began to respond. I suddenly felt like I had an advantage. Not having a wolf meant I was not as emotion driven as a werewolf and would not have to spend ages dealing with a wolf that wanted to go berserk prematurely. The whole kill now ask question later attitude that a wolf has nearly caused an outright war with the humans and Fay.

"First the Lightfoot Pack, then the company, a failed assassination attempt on my nephews, more bad news for the company, and now this… a possible invasion" I nodded but Rodger cleared his throat.

"It's not really my business what's going on with your pack… but… given the reputation of these Black Claw members… I'd say they might have been targeting you guys for a while now. Hell for all I know they could have been behind the attack on the Lightfoot's." She shook her head.

"No that was Alpha Stevens. He's a Red Wolf Blood hound." She gritted her teeth. "An amalgamation of two packs now ruled by one Alpha from the east coast. Originally a pack of rogue wolves they took over territory in the east but have been slowly migrating west." A little shiver went down my spine.

"What do you know about them?" She shrugged.

"They're not like a conventional werewolf pack. They will only accept pure blood members of superior bloodlines. So rogue Alpha's, if they submit, Beta's and Gamma's. That also means Delta's, Epsilons and omegas are killed on sight." She frowned "They might take in the Chi and Psi werewolves but I have no idea." Rodger laughed.

"They probably do, given the rarity and talents they have." I frowned as again my outsider statue got in the way.

"What are all these Greek letters?" Jenny smirked.

"The level you are in the pack. Alpha, Beta and Gamma are the three top places. Most of the warriors in the pack work to become a Gamma or Beta class wolf. However, there can only be one ruling Alpha, the strongest, and one or two Beta depending on the pack size." I nodded.

"What if there was two Alpha class wolves in a pack?" She frowned.

"Then there would be two packs formed… or a blood bath." Dean nodded.

"Alpha's don't like to share their territory with another unless they're really close like brothers and even then it's a tense situation. One can submit to another but that's rather uncommon." I nodded.

"So, Epsilons and Omegas are lower levels of wolf?" Jenny nodded.

"The most common werewolf. Usually, the civilians and other non-combatants like the pack doctors, nurses and teachers. We're still stronger than humans by quite a bit and can train to the level above where we were born." She smirked. "I'm an Epsilon, but with my status in the pack I am the Beta's mate and have the last word. Although I've been training so I might actually be a Delta now." She shrugged. "As for the Chi and Psi werewolves… they're anomaly's that don't happen a lot." Chad nodded.

"A Psi werewolf are your mixed breeds." He said flatly and we all saw the look on Jenny's face but he continued. "Not the typical human werewolf, as I'm sure you know personally how you're seen to a pack." I nodded.

"Lesser." He nodded sadly.

"Yeah, because the human side is normally weak. Other half breeds like vampire, Fay and demon werewolf are far stronger than your normal werewolf." Jenny grumbled then looked around as her eyes darkened.

"Excuse me." She walked to the hallway where Mathew had gone. Dean stepped closer.

"Chi werewolves are practically unheard of nowadays. They were legendary werewolves that could use magic powers." I grinned.

"So, they're a story." Chad shrugged.

"Magic is just something we haven't understood yet. What once was magic could simply be intelligence or a genetic mutation for strength or size." I nodded. In history we had often mistook things that were not understood and called it magic, a curse or the work of a god. It was completely possible that werewolves too had their share of tall tales.
