Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

Jenny came back her mood dark and she cast a glance at us that made everyone turn to look at her. She placed a hand to her mouth as she sat down then glanced to Rodger. He nodded.

"You saw the rout forty-six report?" She nodded and I frowned.

"What?" Jenny leant back in the armchair and sighed.

"It's very likely that the Black Claw killed our Luna. Which means they were the only ones with the opportunity to activate the account within the business." I heard the others growl.

"Fuck, so they have been after us?" She nodded at Jeffs question.

"Seems like it… the question is why?" There was a confused silence. My mind raced and a few ideas came to mind.

"Well, the account was funding something. As to why the Swift Runners…" I shrugged. "No clue." Rodger cleared his throat.

"They were the largest and strongest pack… but since the Luna's death they've begun to…" He chose his words carefully. "Fall behind… They're still as rich as hell. What with a security business operating in nine states, hotels all over the world, casinos and three holiday resorts one in the mountains one by the sea and the other Las Vegas way." Jenny nodded.

"Fuck… I'll have someone check the other businesses too." She got to her feet and began to make a few calls. I looked to Rodger as he finished his second sandwich.

"What are we going to do now?" I asked and she shrugged.

"Mathew took off in our car. That means the rest of us will return to the pack in Jeff's." I frowned.

"The rest of us?" She nodded.

"I'm not leaving you behind with all this shit going on." I opened my mouth and she pointed. "Don't argue. Even if its just for a few days I would rather have you where I know you're safe." I gave a little snort then heard a chuckle.

"I can keep eyes on her if that's the only problem." She looked at Rodger and he shrugged. "What? I work with a lot of fighting lords. Say the word and I'll call in the Soul Sucker." I saw Chad stiffen and he backed away.

"That psycho?" Rodger smirked.

"He's not as bad as you think as long as you keep him fed." He grabbed a calendar. "Yeah… he'll be as good as gold for the next four days." He smirked. "Or I can personally escort our Danica around." There was a growl from Dean.

"Like hell, I could beat you to a pulp in no time flat." Rodger nodded.

"I'll tell that to the undertaker that buries your corpse." The two growled at each other and I held up a hand.

"I have a few errands to run first." I looked to Jenny. "Why don't you and the guys go back to the pack, and I'll sort things here. I'll come out later on the bike." She narrowed her eyes and looked to Dean.

"As long as you keep Dean with you." I sighed and nodded.

"Sure, if it makes you feel better." She nodded.

"It does." With a twist she began speaking to someone on the other end of the phone. I sighed as I watched her then looked at Dean.

"Have you ridden a motorbike before?" He nodded.

"Love them and ride them." I nodded slowly.

"Just need some leathers and your all set."

Jenny grinned then placed her phone into her pocket. With a relieved sigh she gave a thumbs up and looked to us.

"Fine, but if anything should happen call me or Mathew immediately. And I expect to see you at the pack house for dinner tonight at seven." I nodded and watched as Jeff unlocked his phone then handed it to Dean.

"It's unlocked… But stay the fuck out of my messages and images. And if someone named Roxy calls don't fucking answer it." Dean smirked and nodded as he slipped the phone into his pocket.

I watched as the others left. My mind began to wonder as I pulled out my phone and looked through the names. I stopped and stared for a long time then heard Rodger clear his throat. Slowly I pulled my eyes off the screen and saw Rodger eyeing up Dean.

"What's with the kid?" He snorted.

"Just keep it casual." I remarked as I tried stalling the inevitable. Dean frowned.

"Wait, him too?" I gave out a sigh.

"I did say to both of you I don't like being tied down and that this was only a casual affair." Dean nodded.

"Yeah, true but I didn't think I'd have to deal with… him." I rolled my eyes.

"So, you have no problem with Oscar?" Rodger smirked.

"Three? Naughty girl." I shrugged.

"I need to make a call about my bike." I waited holding the phone to my ear.

"Danica it's been ages. What are you calling for?" There was a little pause. "Oh baby, are you calling about the bike? If you are then you'll love this. I just changed its oil fixed the brake pads and gave it a tune up and it went around the track like a dream and purred like a kitten." I laughed.

"Yes, I'm going to be needing it today if possible."

"No worries sis it's all fixed up and is ready when you are, just stop by the shop whenever you want."

"Thanks Dee." There was a loud sigh.

"Harry would be proud of you. You have spirit kid and no one else would suit that bike of hers." I smiled sadly.

"Free spirit to the end." There was a whoop from the other end of the phone and we hung up. "Right got to go get my bike." I saw the identical looks on the two guys faces. "What?" Rodger grinned.

"You ride a motorcycle? You never said you were a wild thing." Dean nodded.

"Fits your alter ego perfectly." Rodger shot him a look then looked at me. I pulled up my shorts and he saw the scar.

"Fuck… that's very… individual." I nodded.

"And it's how he recognised me as the Banshee." Rodger rolled his eyes and sighed loudly then shot a glance to Dean.
