Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

I stood waiting as Dean came out of the back of the shop dressed in leather gear. I smirked and pulled out a helmet and tossed it to him.

"Try this one." He slipped it on then nodded and held a thumb up. I looked to the old woman wearing greasy overalls and she beamed.

"My, my Dan… you sure know where to find such handsome men." She pointed. "I kept your gear behind the desk." I nodded and she stooped then pulled out a case and unzipped it.

"Thanks Dee. So how much is this costing me?" She sighed.

"Not too much as I did have a lot of fun taking your bike to exhibitions." She smirked. "Some guy wanted to buy it, but I told him where to stick it." She handed me the bill and I nodded.

"Not as bad as I feared…" I pulled out my card and tapped it to the card reader then typed in my pin. As soon as the beep sounded Dee held up my key, the skull keychain glittering as the polished chrome and ruby eyes caught the light.

"The baby's tucked up in the back." I waved a hand and then stopped to think.

"How much weight can the twin seat take?" Dee looked back and waved a hand.

"It can carry me and my ball and chain, your boy won't even knock the suspension." I smirked as we entered the garage and sitting in prime position was my Molly. There was a gurgle from Dean as he pointed.

"Tell me that's yours?" I nodded.

"Yep," His eyes were like gobstoppers as he took a walk around Molly. "A Harley-Davidson knucklehead Chopper. With a 1941 knuckle head engine." Dee nodded and sniffed as she placed a hand to her chest.

"Beautiful. Truly magnificent. It was a real labour of love that pushed Harry and myself to get it as it is now." I nodded.

"Then I came along and you had to add the twin seat to it." She sighed.

"Yeah… I hated the idea at first but it's more practical now." With a grin she waved a hand. "Well, you better be on your way before I rob you and keep it for myself." I laughed and pulled my leather jacket on.

I stood in my leathers and felt the tassels running along my arms swinging. I sat on the bike and slipped the key into the engine then pulled on my open-faced helmet. My eyes wondered to the pin-up girl as she winked up at me from the side of the tank. She was basically naked only wearing heavy biker boots, a tiny little pair of shorts I would have called a belt and an open leather jacket that modestly hid her chest but not by much. Her thick fire red and black frizz curled hair was like a crowning main that was pulled back with a red and white poke-a-dot scarf and her big blue eyes winked up at you from the side of the fuel tank as she knelt forward a washcloth in her manicured hands.

I turned the key and the engine roared into life. With a flick I slipped on my sunglasses and waved Dean forward as I raised the kickstand and revved the engine. He hesitated as he took in the sight before him then felt Dee slap his shoulder.

"Move it or lose it boy, she's not a girl to wait… and I'm not just talking about the bike." He stepped forward and slipped onto the bike behind me. I shifted so he could sit comfortably then we were off. I felt his hands grip my waist as we began to move, after a few minutes he relaxed and began to enjoy the ride.

I hit the road. Heading for the back ways and accelerated. It had been nearly a year since I had last ridden Molly like this, she needed a little work done and the paint restored to the back fender. With excitement I hit the ring road to the city. I had decided to take the scenic rout to the pack and it was glorious. The wind blew over my exposed skin and the world fell away around me. Then we were out into the open fields between the city and the forests. In this part of the world there was many farmers fields and long roads that you could really open up and just drive.

After nearly three hours I stopped at a gas station and gave a little stretch. Dean pulled his helmet off and grinned as we got off the bike and I kicked the stand down. I grabbed the nozzle for premium and he stretched his legs.

"Going the really long way round?" I nodded and began to fill the tank.

"Hell yeah. Would have gone for longer if Dee had filled the tank. Why, wouldn't you?" He nodded and staired at Molly.

"Definitely…" He sucked his lip. "Who's Harry?" I shrugged.

"Who was Harry you mean." He frowned.

"Dead?" I nodded and placed the nozzle back and screwed on the gas cap.

"Yep…" I walked inside tossing Dean the keys. "Stop asking questions and you can drive for a bit." He shut his mouth and nodded as I went to pay.

I came out with a bag full of snacks and a few drink bottles. Dean was already sitting on Molly and had the key in the ignition.

"Where too?" He asked and I shrugged looking at my watch.

"Probably should start heading to the pack now…" He grinned like a kid at Christmas as I slipped on behind him then pulled up the kickstand and started the bike. I could feel him giggle in anticipation as we pulled away leaving the station behind. As we road I held his waist and sighed. It was like the times I would ride with Harry when she was alive. A small tear rolled its way down my cheek and I sighed.

Soon the area around us began to grow dark as the trees seemed to spring up on either side of the road. Inside the heavy dark of the forest the road looked narrow and all around us had a watchful feeling as we began to climb the mountain.

With a look around I marveled at the world around me. I had rarely left the city since I was born and had only ventured out a few times. Mostly once I had been emancipated and had my license to drive Molly, but that was to go to the coast and sit on the warm sands like I had done as a kid with Harry. It never occurred to me to go to the forest. Yes, Jenny and her parents took me out training with them from time to time, again, after I was emancipated but we always went to the same area near the lake. It was safe and had a few areas that we could explore but nothing like this.

Dean seemed to look around then pulled onto a little side road that ended in a dirt parking lot. I frowned then stared as the trees opened up and I realized how high the road had gone. He came to a stop then put the kickstand down. I jumped off and walked to the little railings as he shut the engine off and followed lazily behind me.

"I figured you were a city girl through and through… so I thought you would like to see the city from a different perspective." I marveled at the view and nodded then pointed.

"That tall building would be my apartment." He nodded.

"You do stay in the highest building on the highest hill." He smirked then pointed. "A few more miles up the road and we'll come to the town." I frowned.

"What town?" He smirked.

"The packs town…" He saw the look on my face. "Am… basically werewolves form little communities. We build a town out here from an old mining village. With the recent influx of family's from the Lightfoot Pack we have about eight thousand members… give or take." My jaw dropped.

"I thought a pack of ninety was massive…" He smirked and shook his head.

"Maybe once upon a time before modern society. But the town is larger as there's a human section too." I frowned.

"What does that mean?" He shrugged.

"Humans bring in a lot of revenue… especially the city folk who want to go camping but have no clue about the outdoors. So we have chalets, cabins and campsites to help them along." He grinned. "Some then fall in love with the place and buy a house. Over time the humans sort of integrated with us… but they don't know we're werewolves… you know keep the secret type thing." I nodded.

"So, like the city where humans basically wonder around without a clue?" he nodded.

"Yeah. The pack mainly live to one side though… you'll understand once we get there." He walked to the little wooden fence and place one foot to it then rested his arms on his knee as he looked out over the city in the south then stole a glance at me.

"Does the pack come out here a lot?" He nodded.

"It's within the patrolling area." He pointed downhill. "All the way to the city limits is our territory and around to those farms…" He grinned. "I can show you the map in the pack house if you want." I nodded and pulled a stick of jerky out of the packet then offered him one. He smirked and took a piece then chewed thoughtfully on it.
